Super Powered Villain GARUNTEED for the sequel

IF there is a sequel there WILL be a famous superpowered villain. There is not a doubt in my mind. WB execs will simply go by the numbers. They will see that Lex isn't doing it anymore and that the demand, simply is: MORE ACTION. They will mandate Singer & co. to feature a superpowered villain, and, I feel, that if Singer is pointed in that direction, the sequel will be fantastic.

They PROVED they CAN do action. They proved that they can do DRAMA. Now they need to tip the balance towards action, and they'll have a big-time winner.

I'll be glad if they add more action, as long as it isn't at the expense of good drama and story. I dont want it to turn into a summer popcorn flick like Fantastic Four (i didn't hate F4, but it just wasn't deep at all).

They could have had a great story and great action with regard to a superpowered villain in this film, rather than possibly losing money. Look at why Spiderman has been successful. Singer dropped the ball with this film due to his fetish for the Donner film, and it's being reflected in the audience and the take at the box office. This could all have been avoided with a reboot, and a strong story to match great action which included something other than just natural disasters. Furthermore, the idea of Superman being a dad probably turned off a lot of audiences, and something most directors probably wouldn't have done because now you have to include him in every successive sequel.

Here's my sequel idea. It involves Lex Luthor, Metallo, and Bizarro (who in the end actually becomes a hero).

LEX LUTHOR, recent CEO of his new coporate empire LexCorp, has begun to bankroll PROJECT CADMUS, a top secret organization with the sole purpose to prepare counter strikes against Superman should he ever turn on Earth.

DR. VALE, one of the top scientists, introducest he latest plan to several senators and military men of the U.S. government. He has created a metal skeleton made of a rara metal called "metallo". This being, powered by a kryptonite heart, will have the transferred mind of an individual: a former criminal, JOHN CORBEN. Vale believes that the only way to be truly prepared is if Superman lays 6 feet beneath them.

The second part of the plan is BIZARRO, a clone of Superman, created by a single strand of Superman's DNA from a bank robbery scene. This clone is still highly unstable, however, and has taken a ghoulish look. Vale says that there a teams across the world investigating crime scenes, searching for proper DNA samples.

Metallo will be used to destroy the man of steel, while Bizarro (or a better model with a better DNA sample to work off of) can replace Superman, under complete control of Lex Luthor. Screw the real estate plans, Lex wants some power.

During a meteor shower, LOIS LANE (in the middle of an interview in Cadmus' public quaters) takes shelter in the secret facility that lay underground. There she discovers the plans, but before anything can be done about it, SUPERMAN is there to save her and the injured scientists beneath the rubble.

Lex, already aware of JASON'S true father, sends Metallo after him while Bizarro is sent after Lois. The two are captured and it is up to Superman to save the both of them from their deadly captors.

I thoroughly enjoyed that. That was well thought out, had quite a bit of action, and included some great new plot devices such as LexCorp, Project Cadmus, and Dr. Vale. As much as I love Brainiac, I believe he is better saved for a third movie.

If they do go the Bizarro route, I truly hope they dont try and have Routh play him. They need a different actor to pull off my favorite Superman villain. Routh did a good job as Superman, but I don't think he's got the acting muscle to pull off a good Bizarro.

That's a good idea. Due to the radiation, Bizarro can be immune to Kryptonite's deadly rays.

Rob, you're one of my favorite posters, and I'd love to have a superpowered villain next go round, but we have no reason to beleive the execs are thinking the same thing.

Regardless... Here's three villains I want to see:

Brainiac-- Kryptonian Origin. Tracking Kal-El, lends himself to themes of progress at the cost of values and the weight of the past versus the weight of the future. And he can control every electronic thing in the world at once. And he, based on tech, works well with Metallo.

Metallo-- It'd be a hard push to say Earth can make a robot that can stand up to Superman, but it's just about passable, especially if they have ANY Kryptonian tech. Cyborg him up and boom, you have a warrior that hates Superman. Great for exploring themes about "what is it to be Human."

Doomsday-- Kryptonian genetically engineered killing machine, bring him from space, pull him out of the Phantom Zone, do what you will, get a big grey Hellboy/Thing-style bodysuit. Have him be smart and talking til Superman wreaks havok on his head and let him be a screaming animalistic beast for the last fight... great for exploring themes... no... he's just good for raw building shattering, ground quaking, Superman hurling power...

Villains I'm almost sure I don't want to see:

Zod-- It's been done, and not too shabbily. Let it go.

Parasite-- The science is all wonky. The requirements for someones body to work like Rudy's does is a lot, and explaining it without him being built cell by cell is pretty rediculous...

Bizarro-- A dark clone thing... it can be done right, but with Bizarro, at least the one I like, it's a bit too silly to carry any kind of dark tone... and getting full grown clones within weeks is always a bit silly to me...

Darkseid-- I almost liked the idea where he was responsible for setting off Krypton's sun. Other than that, multiple alien races are a turn off to me. Darkseid's a great badass villain, but no one's ever explained his how or why (or even what beyond the anti-life equation) and a movie needs that.

Have you read the comics or seen STAS? Brainiac has lasers than can hurt Superman, force fields that would protect him from Superman's wrath and a robot body powerful enough to trade blows with Superman. Using Zod or other evil Kryptonians would be a rip off Superman II.

They're all "rip-offs" of Superman. I would suggest getting a sparring partner that is a TINY bit more origional and just happens to be hecka strong...

It'd be even better to get one that has consistently appeared in Superman's comics...

It's science fiction. How is the fact that his robot body is man-made any less plausible than a guy flying around in red (maroon :mad::down) underwear, shooting fire from his eyes?

If audiences can accept the fantastical elements that make up Superman, they should be able to accept that Metallo could be fully man-made (unless Supes is at pre-crisis power levels, which he did not seem to be at in SR).

Lex Luthor has always been bald in the SM movies. From the very first one. You just did not see it until the end with Hackman. Check out:

I personally am not holding my breath for a decent superman action filled film. We got the origin film about 30 years ago and then the nice action sequel with zod and then from there its all been madiocre. The first 2 superman movies are "You`ll believe a man can fly" the last 20/25 years of tv series and the later 3 movies have been moree "You`ll believe a man can circle the airport forever, have a kid kicking him in the spine from the seat behind, an obnoxious fat business man yammering next to him and have to suffer through fart filled toilets and the film contact as the inflight movie." lol

We are prob more likely to see Lobo Versus the Mask Versus Howard the Duck The Movie than we are going to see a decent action packed superman movie.

yea i think they did a good job establishing superman's world as fantasy (even more so than spidermans new york) so metallo is a definite possiblity. im kinda hoping they can leave kryptonite of the sequel (since it was so key in Returns) but maybe they can keep it hidden til their final battle or something.
