Over 30 , over 6 foot , kinda looks like he could have an alcohol problem.
Stick a moustache on him and there you go........Iron Man

He's too fat. Stark is lean and cut. Maybe if he worked out REALLLLL HARD...nah, I still don't see it.

I must say that at first I said no... but giving it thought now I don't know. It would be hard to take him seriously.

/Agree.
Tony is well built, not large - but has cuts, a very athletic in shape appearance.
Attractive - no fat face,lean.
Handsome intelligent and daring energy when you look at how he is drawn and portrayed on ink.
Vaughn is not a Tony Stark.
He just doesnt seem to have the blood of a natural born Superhero when you look at his eyes.

Stark has his share of very human problems, though.

I think a lot of people have forgotten the serious stuff that vince did - movies like the psycho remake and The Cell. He's got the acting skills theres no doubt about that.
Everyone saying that he's too chubby , I AGREE , but pretty much every actor whose played a superhero (Tobey Maguire, Christian Bale, etc) have all done extensive workouts to get into shape , obviously Vince would need to do the same.
I can TOTALLY see Jon Favreau casting vince too.....watch this space

In another thread I had Vaughn listed as somebody that might be a solid choice.
He's a strong actor with proven box office appeal. Most of his success comes from starring in comedies but that really shouldn't count against him, after all nobody thought that Keaton would make a good Batman either. :O

Vaughn doesn't work in this kind of movie. You need to go for someone like Tobey. Not exactly A list but no Brandon Routh.

I'd be more concerned about his height. He's really tall, like 6'4"-6'6".

i wouldn't mind seeing his take on it. if he worked out and got in (much) better shape, i could maybe see it.

Vince Vaughn can do it. I get the feeling some of you may only be seeing him in movies like Wedding Crashers, Old School, and Dodgeball. He's been a dramatic actor for a large part of his career and he's damn good. Plus, he's got great chemistry with Jon Faverau. Having said that, I do believe that there are better options out there, but if Vince Vaughn was cast I wouldn't throw a fit.

.... Maybe. He's not someone I'd initially have in mind for the role.... but I wouldn't complain if he got cast. It'd be a little bit of left-field casting, but it could work.

He would need to work the **** out and get back into Swingers type of shape.

Let's see....No!!! I love the idea of Vaughn as a comic character. Can't get the scene of Old School with him on the rings and the cigarette out of my head. He is a good actor, yes, but I want to see him continue his comedic ways.

Y'know... my first instinct was a definite 'No'... but I'm open to the possibility. It's just his voice that doesn't sit right for me. Other things, like general fitness and appearance, can be worked on.
As for him being a funnyman... I would completely agree if it wasn't for my exact same feeling about Eric Bana, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams and Kelsey Grammar before they took on more serious roles. Bana, especially...
As an Australian, there was a time when Eric Bana was a caricature, plain and simple. He was known mostly for wearing a waxy black hairpiece and a suit, posing as a Saturday Night Live-style imitation of one of our famous news personalities.
Now... I think he's a fantastic dramatic actor! :)
I dunno... I may be in a minority these days... but I still cling to the idea of Tom Cruise. :(

haha that's the same image I have of him when people mention him, well that and when he says "ear muffs"
that's why I also think he should stick with his comedic roles.

if you took jack black seriously in king kong youd probly be able to deal with vaugn as iron man

I think he'd be good for the movie IF he hit the gym had the bags under his eyes removed and lost a few pounds. I think this movie would flirt with blockbuster status and would cause Bond to run and hide. It would be kinda like Michael Keaton as Batman but he would have to make a change for the movie.

^Tom Selleck is 61 years old. It will never happen.

Selleck is too old to do Stark now. Back in his youth? Hell yes.
As for Vaughn... nah. He could porbably play part, but it just would seem "off". Not right.
Vaughn doesn't give off a "I'm an extremely industrail, savvy, and intellectual businessman who can kick your ass between meetings" vibe.

Maybe 5 years ago or more. Back in the '90s he was a serious dude and pretty well in shape. In fact I remember being so impressed by him in Old School as jumping into comedy and flourishing NEXT TO Will Ferrell the whole time.
Now after Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers and Anchorman (I suppose The Break-Up but I never saw that) I just can't see him doing drama anymore. If he does he'd need to get back in shape where he was 10 years ago then.

ROFLOL...I've seen nothing about this guy to make me think he can pull the role off...He FUNNY as hell, but it's not how envision Tony Stark.

^ now thats a good pic for the Pro-Vince people!
When you think about Michael Keaton being Batman (and like someone said earlier about Jack Black in King Kong, who i thought was great btw!) theres absolutely NO REASON why Vince cant be Tony Stark.
Dont forget, Vinces good buddy Jon Favreau is directing too.........

He could....
Find it in him to play a drunk?? No question! But that looks like it won't really be part of the first pic.
PLay a billionaire playboy?? Why not. He plays a slick ladies man in most of his comedies.
Fit in the suit?? I think Vince has enough "nerd" in him to want to give an effort and work-out for the part.
My only issue I have...and it may seam like I'm knit-picking...is his hair. I always think of Tony Stark with full, thick hair. Can you get some hair piece to make that happen?? Absolutely, but....PLEASE whatever Faverau does....DO NOT "modernize" Tony with a shaved head etc;:down

Vince is kind of a random choice for Stark, there are other ppl who would fit the part better so why choose Vince?

He is perfect for the part!
A lot of people on here must either be too young to remember him as a serious actor or they've only seen his comedies.
Anyone doubting his acting ability should watch 'The Cell' or th remake of 'Psycho' - NOT great movies, but vince on top form in both.
Ive noticed a lot of people plainly saying "No" to Vince being Iron Man, but not a lot of people are giving reasons WHY.
The common denominator seems to be his weight, which i find a bit stupid. When you think of people like Christian Bale and Tobey Maguire going through their fitness regimes for Batman and Spider-man, theres no reason why vince could'nt do the same.
