This thread pertains to fights using superpowers, plain & simple. Your choices are based on how said powers were utilized & displayed in the battle, regardless of how long it lasted or who came out on top. We're giving FX people their props here.

Well, one of my favourites has to be Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike. The combination of their claws and their healing abilities allowed for a fight that was down right brutal to watch. Visually stunning.

Good one.
Your description was masterful.

Spider-Man vs Doc Ock.
The fight they had on the side of the building was great. Especially when they were rolling down the building in a ball of tentacles. There was no sound, except for the tearing of the wind, and the sound of the metal off Ock's tentacles scraping against the building as they tried to get a grip on it.
But the best was on the train. Ock blocking Spidey's webs with his tentacles. And the fact they were both able to move all over the train. Where ever Spidey could go, Ock could go. Ock even went right under the train at one point, and came out the other side and surprise attacked Spidey, knocking him off the train.

You left out the best thing about that sneak attack; the situation itself was so dangerous that spider-sense was pretty much useless.

Wolverine vs Deathstrike
Spider Man vs Doc Ock
Daredevil vs Bullseye
Jean vs Prof X

I guess radar sense counts; how could Supes use his powers against Lex?

Well it wasnt really against Lex more like using his powers against Lex's plan sort of speak,if that makes sense at all.

If it's along the same lines as what he did in '78 (and it sounds like it was) then that's not really a fight.

Yea I guess your right about that.
Then I would replace that scene with Spider man vs Green Goblin.

Those are good ones, one & all. Nightcrawler's battle w/the Secret Service was one of the finest moments in the history of the genre. Eric using his memories of Shelley's pain to finish off Top Dollar-whoa. The rest are on my list so I won't comment further.

1. Nightcrawler vs. Whitehouse
2. Spidey vs. Ock (on train)
3. Spidey vs. Ock (side of building)
4. Wolverine vs. Invading soldiers at X-Mansion
5. Superman vs. Falling airplane (not a fight but a very fun scene visually)

Also, I can't figure why people like the battle of Superman vs. Kryptonians. Okay, it may have been cool back in the 80's, but to me it looks like the fight is in quasi slow-motion. Plus no-one really gets hurt (that's fighting). It's like, someone punches someone, they get stunned, fly back into a building or something, come back out ready to go, whoopee.

That's true; also they never really took advantage of their superior numbers, or truly pitted their powers against his.
And rescues aren't fights. Plus, from what I hear, Supes struggled & strained to keep the plane in the air. He's Superman. 28 years ago we saw him lift Air Force One w/one hand & wave to the crew w/the other.

True he did struggle with the plane but take into account that later in the movie he lifted a huge piece of land with a small sliver of kryptonite still in him (revealed later in the movie) into space! That seemed to me to be alot heavier than an airplane so they took liberties with his powers to suit certian situations if you ask me.
For my top five, I did not have a 5th favorite so I put that on there.

But was the plane in a spinning dive, with the wings coming off of it and it being on fire? I don't remember that scene.

No-he grabbed hold of the end of the wing & supported it effortlessly.

Well that's the difference isn't it. I mean it's going to take a much greater effort to stop a plane doing a flat spin then just stopping one crashing face first into the earth. So no wonder he had to struggle in returns.

Maybe. I'm admittedly not much of a Superman fan but I'd expect something like that to be easier for him.
1- Wolverine vs Deathstrike
Imagine how even better it would have been if they used the deleted parts of that scene when deathsrtike gets impaled on a huge spike and wolverine stabs her "down below".
2- Spiderman vs Doc Ock
I dislike the spiderman movies but i have to admit that this whole sequence was visually stunning with great choreography and cgi.
3- Blade vs the vampires at the club
Great gore fest, what a way to open a movie
4- Wolverine vs The brotherhood (In the forest X3)
Loved every minute of this scene from the second his claws slowly come out to when he rips those spikes out of his stomach, one of the greatest wolverine moments on film IMO
5- Nightcrawler vs The Whitehouse
This scene got me so hyped up for the rest of the movie, again, what an opening! Great fx, unlike anything i've seen before from amazing acrobatics to slow motion view of the teleporting because he really is that damn fast at it, fantastic sequence.

Yeah, but Blade's antics in the club weren't a display of power; he shot up the place & then whipped out a sword.

People like it because to this day it's the only mass destruction, city-wide superpowered battle to make it to the big screen.

Thats true but he is a vampire, without his abilities he wouldnt have been able to do that unless he trained and trained like batman who really doesnt have superpowers. Depends on how you look at

I look at it as a man being extensively trained; no evidence of him having any kind of superhuman abilities became clearly apparent until he threw Karen out of that window.

True; I just don't personally feel that it was used to its full potential.
