What is the most powerful, dramatic and emotional death you can think of for Superman?

And don't just say let Doomsday do it.

Depends on how they would bring him back.

Doomsday. I like doomsday for one rather symple reason. He's not about tricks and magic to defeat superman, he's a real challenge that noone on earth but superman can contend with. and No bs kryptonite excuse can get in the way. He's the most powerful, pure, unrestrained, force of evil causing chaos, destruction, the usual. So it'd good vs evil, Yin vs Yang in a straight forward fist pounding fight to the death.

That'd be nice

Either him or bizarro

Agree, except for the Bizarro. I wouldn't want him to kill Superman. It should be Doomsday and Doomsday alone.

At the box office. Wait, he already is.

I think he should die saving a ton of people and die in front of everyone so that the emotion of losing the hero can be felt by the crowd and seen by us, the movie goer.

I think it would be powerful.

He should be killed by Captain Atom when hes about to go tell the world that it was infact Thunderbolt that killed the Peacemaker and teleported the Faux alien to Gotham that wiped out half the population in a psycic attack, while The Blue Beetle and Phantom Lady watch.
Wait no! Im thinking of The Question, my bad ;)

I say the way he died in SR was nice, that'd be the way.

Superman definatly should die in an all-out fight with someone... or some'thing' for that matter. Doomsday has been the only truly worthy opponent so far when it comes to actual physical combat.

Or maybe some sort of sacrafice.

Superman can't die... end of story... i don't care that he died in the comics... i don't care that he "almost died" in SR... i don't care about any of that... Superman is Superman, and Superman can't die... that's all there is to it...

WTF is up with people wanting to dredge up a terrible storyline for the movie?

news flash: he's Superman, he's not gonna stay dead. killing him in a movie would be an unspeakable waste of time and celluloid.

1. Superman didn't die in Returns, he was simply in critical condition which is very stupid and anti-climatic.

2. Superman should die saving the world. Let me point to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 5 finale, that was a perfect death/self sacrifice scene, perfect score, perfect voiceover, perfect everything. If they had ended the series there, I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Back on topic, I've always thought a similiar death scene for Superman would be excellent.

He was completely flat-lined. I was under the impression that he was indeed dead. But rose again because of his will to live, still clinging onto his subconscious mind.

.......

Oh well.

He was near flatlining, and again, very anti-climatic, much like the whole film.

If Superman's death is a plot for a future sequel, he should die in battle.

I'd like to see a few villains teaming up on him. Metallo, Bizarro, and Parasite, all downing Superman at once. They recently did something similar to this in Alex Ross' Justice story. I thought it was great imagery seeing all these people teaming on Superman. Having Metallo, Bizarro, and Parasite would be a good combination to put an end to the man of steel.

A quick death, floundering at the box office
