Monday 10-Jul-2006 11:47 AM Silicon Knights confirms intention to follow-up its early GameCube survival horror classic - at some point
Back at the beginning of the GameCube's lifecycle, one of the most exciting games to hit the diminutive console was Silicon Knights' survival horror classic Eternal Darkness. Thanks to the developer's second-party status within Nintendo, many 'Cube fans saw the title as the beginning of a grittier, more adult focus for the console manufacturer, still battling with its supposed 'kiddy' image.
However, despite its game achieving something of a cult status, Silicon Knights eventually broke away from the Nintendo fold and hopes of a follow-up to the game were seemingly dashed. Now however, Silicon Knights' Denis Dyack has confirmed that the developer does indeed plan to revisit the Eternal Darkness universe in sequels.
Writing in his blog, Dyack commented, "I am most often asked if we have sequels in mind for Eternal Darkness. The answer is absolutely yes. Although this may not be obvious to those outside of Silicon Knights, anyone inside the guild understands that there is really no other answer."
Explaining Silicon Knights' development process, Dyack revealed, "When creating an original game we start by conceptualizing an entire universe. Once the universe is conceptualized we then tell a story within that world." Furthermore, "Although [the story in the original game was] just one story we had in mind for the Eternal Darkness universe, there are even more manipulations, great ancients, and numerous other stories to tell..."
While its news that's sure to excite fans of Eternal Darkness, it seems unlikely we'll be seeing the proposed sequels any time soon. With Silicon Knights still wading through its Xbox 360 Too Human trilogy, we'd wager that the developer's going to have its hands full for a good while yet.

Considering the quality of most video game adaptations maybe that's just as good :)

Hey I got eternal mode. Which is any level with infinite ammo and all weapons. Which you only get after beating it 3 times. The game is also easier to beat if you have the eternal sword (which has a permaenet encahntment that is strong against Pious's god).

Too Human is awesome.
From what I have heard from the hands on tests, it's a bit of a mess and a disapointment considering the promises and long development time.
You'd have to be crazy to want that more than an ED sequel.
My friend had a cool idea that with ED on the wii, you can use the wii mote to inscribe runes

Too Human looked like sheep ass at E3...
Too Human was also fundamentally recoded a few weeks before then to complement an upcoming UE3 enhancement Epic hadn't yet sent out.
They're making the game for Christmas, not E3.

and?
they shouldn't have showed it at E3 then, should they have? a very large group of people don't surf the net every day to see whether or not Too Human was recoded or whatever... but they watched E3... so, to them, and me, this game looked like ass. the graphics were sub-par, and the gameplay looked worse than a cheap god of war and path of neo offspring.

Once again, I must agree with Gammy on all points. Frankly, Eternal Darkness rapes any new game to come out of last gen. And that includes Halo, God of War and yes, KH2.

THANK YOU.
As much as I love stuff like God of War, Ninja Gaiden, RE4, Jesus just any of the BEST games in the last 3 or 4 years, ED (IMO) easly rapes most of them....incredibly immersive Lovecraftian story, fantastic combat, great graphics and sound, replayability up the wazoo, and scares that RE, SH and FF combined couldn't give you
As soon as I get the Wii, I'm buying a NEW copy of this baby.

It was probably shown at E3 for the same reason every other game was shown at E3: to keep itself known and to get more info out to a large and hungry audience.
People usually buy games based on their reviews or what the purchaser thinks of them, not on their E3 showing.

true enough, i'm just saying that they didn't make a good impression at all with what was shown, and the sad part is that they probably meant to.

People who buy games on reviews....ugh. Ok I guess I can understand to an extent since games are pricier than dvds or movies in theatres and whatnot, but if I listened to reviewers, I would have missed out on a lot of games that I like a lot.
But anyway, if anything, TH's E3 showing kinda lowered my expectations for the game. Still interested, but they should have focused on other aspects than showing off much game play since it still looks basic and laggy.

Well in that case you're certainly right. I personally wished they showed more (any) of the RPG elements and the varied environments they speak of but never show.

That said, it seems to ''borrow'' from God of War heavily, so if it comes out as polished and tight as that, it will be a good thing.

ED was an awesome game. Hopefully the sequel is even better.:xmen:
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem was a fantastic game. Even getting to complete the game three times to unlock the proper ending was something kinda worth waiting for.
It's about time a sequel come out. But will it come to the Wii?
WII WILL WII WILL ROCK YOU!!!!!
