I have to agree with you to a point. Godzilla '98 was a flop. But I don't think it was totally caused by the design of Godzilla. It was changes like making Godzilla a mother, taking away the atomic-breath, and not letting Godzilla win. I think they could have done a better job, but for what it was... not all bad.

SO I got to screwing around with that pic of optimus' face again and sketched a pose around it, then decided to render it fully as a painting...I was seeing the last scene in the leaked script in my head. I sketched it as movie prime, but as I started to render it I couldn't help but make it a Gen 1 Prime with some of the movie design elements mixed in...This is the low res work in progress. As I keep rendering it there will be more details added. I am quiting for the night and wanted to show you guys...

Overman, if your reading this you should fix a few things in your poster. First of all you should add a blue hue to OP considering all your background image has a cold "morning" look to it. Prime looks out of it due to that like he's not affected by his surrounding. There's also obviously the date to be fixed. Perhaps you could put the tagline in one sentence, smaller and in the middle top. Last is the logos, maybe make them slightly smaller and place them somewhere more strategic and more blending in. Im thinking at the start and end of the tagline, or maybe one on top of the other between the tagline and the TF title in smaller size. Either way great concept!

cuz they're "blocky"? I seriously don't know where the designers got their insparation from. I guess when they said they wanted something we've never seen before, they meant they wanted something never seen in the Transformers universe. I have no idea where people get the "Jesus" thing from in Superman. It was totally more Greek mythology to me (Hercules, Persues, etc.)... which predates ol' J.C. I mean, really.... there ain't a single thing Jesus-ish in Superman to me.

That's pretty much Hercules' story too (sent to earth, raised by earthly parents, dies... then actually becomes deified as a full god... and comes back for more adventures)...... way way before J.C. :cwink:

Beyond that, there are way more parallels in Superman to Ancient Mythology than to Christian Religion IMHO. But much like religion, I guess one can read into it whatever they want.

I have no idea where people get the "Jesus" thing from in Superman. It was totally more Greek mythology to me (Hercules, Persues, etc.)... which predates ol' J.C. I mean, really.... there ain't a single thing Jesus-ish in Superman to me.

I'm not saying there aren't influences. But it is just so stupid and conceited to link Superman Returns with Christianity in such a big way... especially since there are way more obvious influences.

jesus carried his cross to the place he was crucified. he carried his own object of destruction, just like superman did with the continent. a better atlas reference was when he actually had the daily planet globe on his shoulders. he also chose his own death at the continent to save humanity, when he could have saved himself with his vast powers. that's how i equate the continent with the cross.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the movie designs. They're just not Transformers in any way... unless they're doing a movie about the Insecticons (which would be news to me). Someone posted a pic in one of the other threads of a nice blend between the movie designs and something a bit more faithful (non-insecticon-ish). Having said that... I still think Prime looks pretty cool.

I'm not too fond of Ratchet or the gas-masked Autobot faces either. The Autobot body designs (as well as Barricade's) are fine with me...even though a lot of parts are exposed they are at least uniform in their composition. But Prime is by far my favorite as he has the most recognizable elements amongst the robots.
