Sounds good...but Singer back on the X-Men and let Ratner beef up the next Supes flick with some action. Or hell, let the both of them work together...good story + great action = great movie.

So with Singer we got a bore-fest. With Ratner we'd get a crap-fest.

Let J.J. Abrams have a crack at directing. Not writing it, just directing it.

I'll direct it if they give me the chance.

In the unlikely event that WB dumps Singer, I'd expect them to go 'outside the box' so to speak to find his replacement. I wouldn't expect another comic book movie director to step in but another legit 'up-and-comer' like PAUL HAGGIS or something. Somebody completely new to the genre.

oooOOOoooo I am gonna catch **** for this but I think this is the guy who should have directed Superman from the very beginning:

Ron Howard

What about Robert Rodriguez?

this "idea" could have gone in your other thread... that you made half an hour ago... seriously.

What about Robert Rodriguez?

now there's a man who knows the meaning of "adaptation" :D

but remember dude he was a fan of the Sin City comics, hence his faithful rendition of the movie version. but you dont know how he'll handle a franchise that he doesnt really care for.

I liked X3, but I agree that the film itself was clearly an example of style over substance. Not my thing...substance all the way.

Yeah I can see it now, Marsdens character being killed off right at the beginning and no one mentions him again. Lois goes crazy and supes ends up killing her. We would also get watered down versions of every supes villain in the movie as well.

not a bad idea

ChrisBaleBatman

Maybe he'll add powers to Superman? Like.....the ability to go through walls or something.

Seriously....what's wrong with Rodriguez directing? I mean, up until ypou added Miller, it was a fine idea. Take away Miller, and what's wrong?

Somebody new to the genre, who doesn't command a high salary, who's a very talented guy, and who already made a big hit special effects movie for WB: Alfonso Cuaron (directed HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban---the best of the movie series-- and A Little Princess).

HELL NO!

he had his shot, and he screwed it up himself with a gay, black Jimmy Olsen, an FBI agent Lex Luthor, Suit-in-a-can, and a non exploding Krypton.

I might lose some credibility here, and I might be letting my love of BtVS take over in this time of grieving, but I would get Joss Whedon off of Wonder Woman and on to the next Superman flick.

Whedon can do real human emotion in fantasy elements like no one else, all at the same time while telling a good story. If you gave him comic book writers, or atleast Bruce Timm, as a consultant, he could do great things with this character.

if you've heard some of the things Whedon said he'll do on the WW movie you'd also want him to stay as far from the Superman franchise as possible.

To be honest with you, I haven't really paid much attention to that project. I know he is creating his own villian, and Ive heard he is removing the star spangled panties, but thats all I know.

I just registered at buffyworld, I wanted to wait until I finished Angel, so I will dig up some info while Im over there in the near future.

ha... i didnt mean to give you a hard time.... Rodriguez would be a good call (and he'd be the last one to bring Miller on board -- despite their friendship.) If i remember correctly, Rodriguez was approached before or after McG at one point and didn't agree with the nontraditional approaches to Superman that were being thrown around and walked away. Sounds pretty loyal to me...

hmmm... i like.... in fact, he may be my new #2 (behind Singer) --- i like the direction Singer has pushed the franchise but if he decides not to return, Cuaron should most certainly be considered.

BURTON...The most conservative director, Mr sound stage always has excitement in his flicks.

It would be a unique look at what he coulda done with supes. I would have loved it. I could see his vision with The Rock, and yes I mean it, I would love to see that cause the rock looks alien anyway. No clowning, I just mean alien as in he resembles something out the norm so he could be cool and he acts like a superman, but with a different costume. The draw would be tremendous. It would be different but looks like that's what we need.

Nah, I saw Robocop 2 and 3.

If they had gone with his original Robocop 2 script, it might not of been as bad a franchise.... BUT if you haven't read a review of Frank Miller's Batman Year One script, check it out. You'll understand why I have a hard time respecting anything he does. We'll see how 'The Spirit' turns out. Will he be a hobo like he wanted Bruce Wayne to be??
