View Full Version : New toys I'm hyped about
nosebleed.
07-14-2006, 02:43 PM
I'm just creating this thread to show pics and links of upcoming Transformers toys that I'm really looking forward to buying. I have most of the Binaltechs, Takara Masterpiece Optimus Prime MIB, and the Hasbro 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime MIB.
I will post mainly Masterpiece line here as it is the best line Takara has for Transformers IMO.
Here is the Masterpiece repaint Ultra Magnus...I know this is already available but I don't have it yet:

This one will rank right up there with my Masterpiece Optimus Prime. This is the prototype for the Masterpiece Starscream due out this fall.

I have a question. I'm a nube to Transformers you see. In the show who created the Transformers, where did they come from? They came from Cyberton but who on Cyberton created them?

The quintisons created 2 types of transformers workers and military, eventually they evolved and the workers became autobots and the military became decepticons.
BTW, in regards to the toys, I have Megatron and Shockwave from G1 still in the box...pays to have patience.

I just finished buying a G1 Optimus Prime, Starscream and put in a bid on G1 Hound over on ebay. All are MISB (Mint in sealed box). Damn these things cost an arm and a leg. I wish i had kept my origanal toys from the 80's. I saw G1 Megatron, MISB, going for $2,000.00 plus!

If anything, I'm excited to get the Japanese Materpiece Optimus Prime with the trailer. Once I get that, I would really wanna Starscream when he comes out. (Doesn't he come out in like Nov?) That Spark Replica was at Comic-Con 06 and it was so sick to look at. The middle of the spark is made out of some kind of crystal. I think its just replicated with plastic though, but I wouldn't mind getting that either, but first OP with his trailer.

I bought a Classics Optimus Prime today at Wal-Mart. He's extremely cool, very poseable and easy to transform. I really like the smokestack gun he comes with. I can't believe how many cool poses he can be put in. Definitely gonna get a few more of these. The Megatron looks good too but I'm strapped with the figures I've bought in the past few days.

From what I have seen this is the following differences:
Head has yellow paint in the 'grilles' on both sides of his lower face plate. NO airbrushed 'battle damage'. All the chrome parts are a satin silver or silver painted (smoke stacks, grille, etc) but I COULD be mistaken. Prime's rifle is blue with silver trim instead of black with silver. There is a base that has voice clips but they are NOT any lines that were recorded by Peter Cullen "voice of prime" at all. That and the box is different. I have the original issue of 20th anniversary prime, I removed the 'battle damage' with some rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs, and replaced the stubby smokestacks with some repoductions based on the the Takara Masterpiece Convoy (primes name in japan).

Yeah thats correct. I found one at a local wal-mart. Kinda sucks but oh well. I was gonna grab one from that wal-mart, but I took a promo code a site where I get 25% off and free shipping from Hasbro.com so I got it for like $56 free shipping. It's no MP Prime, but it's way cheaper :woot:

FEAR THE BAT
10-09-2006, 05:09 AM
I dunno. But nevertheless they look cool. I seriously think they could've gone with a number of better choices for a name on this line but thats what they settled on. I guess because they're using classic characters more than the fact that they're supposed to resemble their classic look. I dunno. But I like'em. Better than some of the ones they've been pumping out. And I'm really liking the Bumblebee revamp. Best looking Bumblebee IMO. Now, I could've done without the white paint but its a cool little twist. I only have the Optimus (may get the Megatron today or tomorrow) and he's very cool IMO. But like everything these aren't for everybody.

Actually it isnt you have to fold them back when you flip the head into the body when changing to truck mode. The pics of the fig in an out of the box are still in the folded back position ;)

The point is not to re-release the old stuff, but to do versions of them with the know-how and design possibilities of today while clearly resembling G1 characters. You can take it as a "What if G1 had been created in 2006" line.

Exactly...in the pic if they had flipped them forward they look like they'd be as tall as the Masterpiece/20th Anniversary ones.

There are a few though that look pretty much like their G1 selves. Starscream and Hotrod look pretty much like themselves...great recreations if you ask me. But I'll hold out for my Masterpiece Starscream to arrive in the mail.

ahh icic. Good call. I picked up my Classics Bumblebee today! Woo! It was the only one at a wal-mart near my work. I went there on friday and saw hotrod, bumblebee, astrotrain, and starscream, like a whole stockful of them. But I came back today to get all of them and they were gone :csad: guess they must of accidentally stocked them out on the floor when they werent supposed to. Luckily they left out Bumblebee, it's an awesome figure.

i think they call them classics cuz thier using a retro design to the original g1 characters like stated before. this line even brings megatron back to being a gun which is cool (don't get anymore classic than that), but i think megatron would have been better as a tank so you don't have the wings or some how incorporate the outter design of the gun into megatrons robot mode instead of just using wings as a shell of the gun mode. i really think hasbro is starting to get things straight and back to basics with the recent releases they've had of the toys, with the classics, alternators and the die cast. all these lines kick ass and resemeble a retro version of the original tf line. i really think the classics line is the direction they should have gone with in the movie, make new retro designs of the original characters to make them fit into todays world, instead of the alien look thier going for.

According to a Japanese website, the Masterpiece 05 Megatron will be a Walther P38. The website also notes that it will be the same size as MP-01 Convoy in robot mode and be oversized in gun mode. Also, no word as to what accessories accompany the figure but it appears that the fusion cannon will be a part of it.
