View Full Version : After seeing Superman Returns, I don't feel it'd be too much of a stretch for S v B.

I think after seeing the actual movie that it'd be quite believable to actually have these two meet up. I feel that the film although was meant to have a retro-ish feel it did feel very now and alot of it stylistically did remind me of Batman Begins. What does anyone else think?

You know, I have to agree. Both movies use a more restrained, sober style than, say, the earlier Batman movies or Spider-Man. Nolan and Singer are quite similar as directors.

I agree. They both have very low key directing styles that really suit the characters.

In all honesty, I think the two are going to meet up eventually. Probably once Nolan finishes with his current Bats series.

I don't know if making the movie would still be a good idea because I don't think Singer gets Batman. Plus Nolan would need a break from the Bat movies. Hes a great director and should make more films after hes done with Batman. I rather see them try a Justice League film than these two meeting up.

Couldn't agree more. I read an interview where he actually said that if the film does get made, he thinks Batman should be the bad guy. What kind of **** is that? I think Wolfgang Petersen should direct the Batman vs. Superman movie as was originally intended. In Troy, he showed me that he could handle having two opposing protagonists without having one seem 'good' and one seem 'bad' (Achilles and Hector).

That is true, but Wolfgang Petersen also recently directed "Poseidon," which had the worst hero characters I've seen in any movie this year. After sitting through that pile of crap, I don't want him anywhere near my two favorite superheroes.

That being said, yeah, Singer's comment was so idiotic it made me want to punch out my computer screen when I read it. He had better NEVER make any type of B/S movie because he obviously wouldn't know what to do with it.

I'm not necesseraly saying it should be made, just saying that when you view the movies seperately you could believe they co-exist.

Very true. Stylistically, both movies are fairly similar and do attempt to ground the heroes in a world that is fairly close to the "real" world. I've heard that Gotham is mention somewhere in SR, but I missed the reference when I saw it.

So did I, but I heard the 'birthday clown massacre'. I thought that might've been a reference to The Joker. SR didn't turn out to be nearly as fantasy as I thought, and thats why I feel it can fit into the same universe.

When Superman Returns and there's the bit of the reporter lady talking about Superman on the TV, she says something like "From Metropolis, to Gotham, and even New York City, Superman is saving lives" etc. Not in those words exactly, but something like that.
