You know, the one about how Batman should be in there with the rest of the baddies, and he semi agress?

I've been hesitant on picking it up in trade lately, as the past few I've gotten have sucked (Venom Carnage, Toxin, Hush Returns, Contagination)

Yeah, it's awesome.

Word to the wise though......it is slightly dated, atleast from what I saw. It came before the TLH so Two-face isn't exactly the same.

But, it's a great read. I loved it.

...Not really. What was different between the two?

Well, the relationship wasn't there. The freindship thing, atleast....not that I could see.

...They were only together in one scene, and there wasn't many lines between them. :o

And while it's been a while since I've read it, I do believe Batman showed a bit of concern for Harvey, didn't he?

Venom was a great read. A lot of the stories from the earlier issues of Legends of the Dark Knight were solid reads. What were the things you didn't like about the story?

I think he means Venom/Carnage as in the Marvel characters that have symbiotes and where they fight each other because Carnage is pregnant. Anyways, yea I think it's great. The art is really unique and the story is very dark. Highly recommended.

The art's great in it, but the story was bland.

It comes a bit too highly touted, but it's worth a read.

yeah I read it and I love the story but Joker's look was scary which I didn't mind.

IMO, the writing was pretentious. It had some good ideas, but just failed to capitalize on them.

The art was intesting, but not my cup of tea.The Joker looked like an old lady.

It's definitley one of the more eerier Batman reads if you're into the darker stuff, and the artwork didn't seem to fit with the story, but still a decent book imo

The artwork doesn't fit the story? How so?

The only thing that really bothereed me about it was the way Joker's text was put in.

I had to either look close, or flip to the back for the script to see what the hell he was talking about.

Great story I would of liked if it was a bit longer cause it was too short.

They did go a tad overboard with the pseudo-intellectual bull****.

Buy it for the art, reread it for the story.

I like Mckean's artwork, just thought it didn't seem compatible with the writing; his stuff is very high-end and graphic design-y for a Bat book, that's all (I thought Kelley Jones would be a better pairing)

CConn

Yeah, it was high-end, but it was also very dark, and really as creepy as the writing itself. IMO, at least. Without McKean's artwork, I don't think I'd like AA half as much.

I can't remember.....did Batman kill a dude in this book?

Great concept. Great art. Overall, an alright story (some things I loved, some things I thought were so-so). Definitely worth a read.

There are two Arkham Asylums. There is A serious house on serious earth which is instant proof of Grant Morrison's genius, and one of the greatest comics (Batman or otherwise) ever written. The story is deep and if you miss the Morrison's symbolism, it may come off a bit boring. My first read through I thoght it was so overrated. But I kept hearing so much about it so I readthe annotated script (15th anniversary edition baby-- the version to own) and I started checking the script against the actual comic and I realized just how amazing it was. The second Arkham Asylum, which has nothing to do with the first one, Living Hell, by I think, Dan Slott, is pretty crappy, not really even a Batman story. If you read Batman OYL and you wonder where that Shark guyat the end (not Orca) comes from, then Living Hell is kinda like his origin story. But Living Hell is completely passable, but has critical praise on the back of the trade-- don't believe it. Believe this-- you can't have Batman books without Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth.

Yeah, I think it's one of those books.....that even IF you don't like it, you still NEED to own to be able to call yourself a Batman fan. Like Frank Miller's BATMAN YEAR ONE, it's not everybody's fave Bat-book....but tons of Bat-fans own it just b/c it was a huge step for the Dark Knight.
