She wasn't that fat. And besides, I think she and Molly had the most interesting personalities. But we still have Molly. If Molly's killed I really will drop the book.

yeah but gert kinda did the least. I mean once nico became leader gert seemed kinda pointless. If gert had become leader it would have been an entirely different story

KingOfDreams
09-13-2006, 04:27 PM
The theory I have as to why she was killed off was because Chase was kind of pointless since all he really did was drive the Leapfrog. He didn't have any powers. Gert had her mental link with Old Lace. They killed off Gert instead of Chase because if they killed off Chase that would leave only one male (besides Xavin I guess) on the team. And now Chase has a power.

Just for I/P. I/P, the usual, X-Men defeated Danger. Plus, Kitty had everyone grab hold of her when the big thingamabob Sentinel blasted them and failed, which was BA, might I add, and it ended with a jawdropping cliffhanger of Hellfire that consists of Shaw, Nova, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Perfection. As of now, they're playing a major role in the current arc.

You're not wrong, I'm really enjoying the story so far, so I regret only picking one issue instead of the entire set. Cliffhangers are stupid. Funny thing is, I was reading through Elijya's thread of recommendations yesterday and your bumping it was the reason why I'm reading it, so thanks alot. The writing is fantastic, I love it. Clearly, I'm taking a short break from Marvel's ongoing infectious controversy and reading indie books instead, which are hella better than most Marvel books these days. I'm thinking of expanding that short break...

Get the trade or the remaining issues if you have to.

The story is really good because:

Batman,Superman and Wonder Woman aren't at the center of the story

Guys like Aquaman and Manhunter are really fleshed out here with genuine personalities you can actually distinguish

The threat near the end is only brought about after the fault of a fellow Leaguer, theres real consequence which usually gets forgotten in big stories like these

You should go back and pick up Murdock Papers by Bendis which led into DIAO.Heck, get Bendis's run slowly in trades. It's really been one bigass story since Murdock got outed back in #32.Bendis' run is essential DD reading.Brubaker is still carrying the same plot threads Bendis was using from years ago.

very good actually, not much initially at least in the way of action but it did it's job, it gave me the sense that I should stick around since where ever this ends up it should be an interesting ride.

I didn't like how easily Franklin and Valeria got taken out though. Franklin is possibly the most powerful being in the universe. He could've winked at doom and vapourised him and yet he goes out as nothing more than a plot device :(

Gaiman's Eternals 1-3.

This is one of the best comics I've read in a long time. JRjr's art is beautifully evocotive of Kirby, and the story is like American Gods if gods were superheros. Best thing Marvel's published in years.
