Okay, so I didn't like BB very much when I saw it in theaters so I stayed away from the Batman threads. I saw it again last weekend and thought it was wonderful. So now I have no idea what is going on in BB2. Could you guys fill me in? I know Joker is going to be in it. What about Catwoman?

I will try to do that my fair lady.

Joker will be played by Heath Ledger. He will not show up in final form until half way though the movie. His backstory will be told, perhaps through flashbacks.

Harvey Dent will fight crime along with Gordon and Batman.

Mob Bosses will still have a hand in Gotham Crime. It is rumored that either Rupert Thorne or Sal Maroni will play the normal "Godfather" like Mob Boss. It is also rumored that Black Mask may be a "freak" Mob Boss (freak meaning normal Batman psyco).

The Penguin may have a cameo roll as an Arms Dealer.

Everything in italics is speculation at best.

As far as Catwoman, there has been nothing on her being in the sequel. But I do believe it was rumored that Selina Kyle (her alter ego) may be at the end of the movie - or maybe it was a fan idea I read on the Hype...they are mixed together now :(

Just a tad reminder. On the FAQ thread, you already asked if she'd be in the sequel. And I responded. :D

So, Catwoman is probably going to be in this one then? Cool....

Probably. The whole rumor of Catwoman being in the sequel, wasn't close at all to being anything official. It was only Jett's opinion for speaking if Rachel Dawes wouldn't return, and if the sequel was going to be heavliy based on The Long Halloween. Thus meaning Selina would be apart of it as the new female lead.

Phoenix would be superb.

His name really needs to be "in the mix" of it all again. He has all the qualities needed for someone like Harvey.

Why not? And how would you know this?

A District Attorney holds the highest office in the jurisdiction's legal department... normally they are elected. And in a large city, where politics are not taken for granted, a young guy just a few years out of law school is not going to hold the district attorney's position. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's highly implausible.

Oh I dont know about that.
However realistic Nolan chooses to make these movies there will always be unbelievable comic book aspects.
If he wants to explain Dent's fast rise in his profession to counter casting a young actor logically he could do it easy.
Dent has never been older than Wayne in my eyes and he has always acted younger.
Plausibility can fly out the window in movies just as fast as it does in comics.
Thats whats so great about movies :D

If movies were all about plausibility and realism they wouldnt make half as much money as they do.

We all know that Billy Dee Wlliams played Harvey Dent in the original Batman don't we...
That wouldve been dope I think.

In the 1989 - 1997 Batman film franchise, Billy Dee Williams (an African American actor) appeared as a pre-disfigurement Dent in Batman (1989). Apparently, Williams signed for this role knowing that D.A. Dent was to become Two-Face in further installments of the franchise. He wrote his contract so that, should the character appear in a sequel, Williams was to play it or he would receive an amount of money. However, when Two-Face was to became the main villain in the third movie, director Tim Burton had abdicated to Joel Schumacher, who decided to hire Tommy Lee Jones, and agreed to pay Williams for his cooperation allowing them to use the character.

I dont think I've seen Clive in enough movies to know if he could pull off Dent.
All of the ones I can think of he just plays the same character.
Pheonix is alright but Gyllenhaal is still my choice and Bana is second.

I could live with Bana...but Gyllenhaal...while good in JArhead, just doesn't seem right to me. He's too young for a DA, and he just looks wrong IMHO.

That and (not that I am saying this but oyu KNOW the media and their issues) freakin "Brokeback" jokes and references on news and talk shows would get as annoying as the whole 'TomKat' thing did with BB. :(

Yeah Jake is too young.

The brokeback thing wouldnt bother me, but I can just see all the newspaper reviewers, etc making jokes and I would get REALLY pissed.

My choices go like this:
1)Pheonix
2)Schreiber

it was purposefully over the top to suit the film noir tone, he put on a very thick and unrealistic new york style accent. Agreed though it was laughable especially 'A Hard Top With A Decent Engine...& Make Sure It's Got A BIG Trunk'

I dont mind having a younger Dent because thats how I interpreted his personality in the comics compared to Wayne. Not to mention Gyllenhaal has that added instant compassion I think we need to see in Dent. Which is also why I like Bana :)

Besides a 6 year difference can easily be achieved with make-up or camera angles.

If an actor cant manage to speak in a different accent then they arent really an actor. An accent should be the least of an actors challenges.

I mean, can you see yourself saying the same thing about someone like Depp?

I mean when I look at Gyllenhaal and Bana I just instantly care about them. I want to tuck them into their bed, give them milk and cookies and tell them tomorrow will be better :p

They just both look like really nice guys.
Thats the very first impression I get when I see their face. Sure they can be vain and arrogant but at the end of the day they have to be completely loveable which will be hard to feel for any actor who plays Dent given his personality.

Ronny Shade
07-28-2006, 01:44 PM
It's all in the acting, 7. Believe me, it'll be just as easy to side with Pheonix as Dent as it would be with Bana or Jake. Watch Troy if you haven't. See if you want to "tuck in" Hector. I sure as hell wouldn't. I'd want to hire him to kick the **** out of all my enemies.

All three people we're talking about here are all gonna be able to pull sympathy if that's how the character is written.

7Hells
07-28-2006, 01:54 PM
Thats the thing though, the characters dialogue wont be written to evoke sympathy because Dent is an arrogant justice diluted naive asshat :p
It has to go beyond his words and the delivery of lines and the director can only do so much.

And the cinema audience doesnt know Dent the way we do. They will need that extra nudge of compassion.
Its all about casting someone who looks right for the Harvey Dent character instead of casting someone that looks right for the Two-Face character.
When looking for the actor we shouldnt be able to see them as twoface we should only be able to see them as Dent.
Because Dent is the hard part, not Twoface.

I get what you're saying, but
1) Dent won't necessarily be written that way. I get the feeling he will start off very driven, passionate and pure, which will make his fall to evil all the more tragic and
2) Even if he is, I can see your argument about Gyllenhaal having a sympathetic look....it's cause he looks like a kid and kids have problems that are more innocent than adult asshat problems. But I don't think we should have a DA being kid-like. and I don't really see the sympathy in Bana any more than I do in Pheonix

See I think Dent should be written in such a way that he seems TOO Good to be in a city like Gotham. He should be the All-American Golden Boy, he spends his weakends taking care of sick grannies in the nursinghome, his weekdays laying down the cold iron fist of justice and his spare time saving puppies. He also loves Apple Pie and Kisses Little Babies.

He should be written so that the crowd instantly likes him, perhaps even more so than Batman actually - that makes the whole Acid to the Face deal that much more dramatic.

I want him to be that way too but he also has to be vain.
Because Dent is vain people! It was the one thing he was clinging on to in a tragic life that kept him feeling like he was on top of the game and could handle his job of being in the public eye.
Thats why he flips when he loses his looks.
And also why he flips back and forth.

His face being marred is the physical representation of his personality being caught between the two worlds. Thats why his physical self needs to be important to him because everytime he looks in the mirror he has to be reminded of what he used to be and what he used to have.

And the reason he cant move on when he gets reconstructive surgery and keeps tearing his face off is because it will never be as perfect as it was before. Thats his view on life manifesting itself through his vanity.
His view on the world before he saw the ugly side of life(himself).

Glad you like it. I think that approach gives the best "Nolan-ized" version of Two-Face, grounded in reality, but still true to the character.

You do realize that when Ronny sees this hes going to do two things...
1) Crap his pants in joy
2) Shower with brotherly affection (and maybe gifts) :p :D

Looks like kano from mortal kombat. It's a great manip my only 2 problems is the burns need to be covering the whole of one side of the face so he really is 2 face not 1 and 3/4 face, and i like the hair thing but maybe that should also go across the whole of that side

Nice. The only I would change would be the white hair. Unless they are going to have him resemble his B:TAS counterpart. Phoenix's name really should emerge on the "candidates mill" again.

I've had a couple of comments about the hair. I figure that if he got splashed in the face with acid, some might get into his hair and bleach it. Mostly I added it because it looked to plain to leave the hair alone.

Thanks. I think the hair does need a trim. Though personally, I like longer hair, but this pic's hair is too long.

But I don't want to turn this into a Joker thread.

It's a superb effort.

What you also could have done, was get rid of the side of hair that was hit with the acid. Like Sale's rendition of Harvey.

Just because the man once wore a piece of make-up doesn't mean he's qualified. He doesn't look that much like Dent, he's not that great an actor, and nearly anyone can have prosthetics slapped on them.

your very much missing the point, I didn't post the picture to show what he can look like with half a face, I was simply showing a picture that showed he had the handsome yet tortued face that Dent possesses. I'm not sure who you believe should play the role but acting wise he is equal in abilities as Shrieber (who is ugly as **** and could never gain the 'apollo' name) who seems to be a fan faviroute and showed he was able to play a vein and tortued man in Phantom, and from your comments it was evident that you hadn't seen it and probably basing his acting skills off of tomb raider. Nevertheless each to their own and I was merely stating my choice in who I would like to see in the role

I find that most fan favorites are rubbish. Schrieber or Butler would really piss me off if one of them were chosen. Highly over-rated.

hold up...who rates Butler enough to consider him over rated, apart from me I don't even think he's been mentioned as a possibility for the role.
