My favourite was the final fight between :spidey: and the :gg: , but what do YOU think was the best scene in spider-man ????????

man, what crap, you didnt even have my favorite scene in the movie in there.
THE BEST scene in the movie was when Peter started swinging for the first time chasing Uncle Ben's killer, it was too awesome!
How cool is it seeing spidey swinging for the first time in a car chase?
geez..uncle bens death is such a harsh way to put it, you couldve at least said Spidey's first swing or somethinglike that. sniff sniff, that scene really shows the physics of how spiderman swings, its just so beautiful, brings a tear to my eyes.

I put down Uncle Ben's death, which I take to mean not just the death itself, but the chase and fight afterwards. That really is *the* moment of truth for Peter, isn't it? I especially like where he hesitated before swinging from the web (no doubt remembering his last less-than-successful attempt at it) but did it anyway. He was a man on a mission. Brilliant sequence.

That entire, tense moment frames both personalities of Spider-man and the Green Goblin, and gives you the perfect picture of good versus evil in the Spideyverse. Magnificent! :daredevil

I picked the restling match for several reasons. First because its a little humiliating, which is so typical of Spidey's life. When the audience throws popcorn into Peter's face and the wrestling "sluts" are screaming at him and calling him "little man," and stuff like that it's almost hard to watch. I never really thought of Spidey as being "little" but at 5 feet 10 inches (or 5'8'' in Tobey's case) I guess he is kind of little.
Second, there is a lot of Tobey Maguire as Spiderman. The balaklava allows us to see some of his emotions as he's first getting clobbered and then as he's fighting back. Tobey also gets to make the first (of his famous) joking remarks "Staying away form you." and "That's a nice outfit, did your husband make it for you?"
And lastly, because of the goofy, amazed grin in his eyes at the end of the scene. Here is a guy who has been a loser all of his life, finally getting a taste of what it is to be a winner. It's kind of touching in a way, but also kind of sad. It explains a lot of why Peter continues to be Spiderman despite it almost ruining his life at times.
For me this was the most emotionally involving scene.

i picked the peter transformation to spidey scene because it packs the most excitement. they did such a good job conveying the joy of discovering the new abilities he kas.

I picked the GG/Norman mirror conversation. For me this moment made me go WOW!! THAT'S NORMAN OSBOURNE!! Willem Dafoe is FLAWLESS in this scene and made me forget that John Malchovich had ever been offered the part (although I still think he looks more like an Osbourne).
Though this is my favorite SCENE in the film my favorite MOMENT is in the first fight between Spidey and GG. After GG is defeated he spins away screaming "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS SPIDER-MAN!!!" It doesn't get more shall we say comic booky than that! Classic. :spidey: :gg:

A great scene in the movie, was during the final fight- when the pumpkin bomb explodes in Spider-man's face, and you can see his eyes roll back and his mask shreds....thats really awesome.

Dang, I agree with everybody here. I picked the transformation scene because there was so much joy expressed and it was really uplifting. But I could just as easily choose any of the other scenes.
I'm sitting here writing this late at night. I'm traveling and I'm in a hotel room and guess what favorite film is playing on the hotel's in-room movie list....
Got to go. Got to go see all those scenes all over again.

I loved the 1st scene With JJ Jameson!! it was SO funny!!
The kiss was really great!! (uh oh...girly side showing through....*panics*)
The whole bridge scene was brilliantly done!! (although I actually think it was better in the book...)
The final web-slinging scene was just the best thing ever to hit the cinema tho...IT WAS SO COOL!! I cant believe how much like spidey the poses and swings were, that just gave me goose bumps:):D

Well , i can't believe that no-one has said the "ceiling" scene , with the blood dripping from Spider-man's arm . That is what you call pure tension , whenever anyone watches that scene they do not move or even make a sound , it is awesome .
PS , "uncle ben death" in the poll does include the WHOLE scene. That means the chase and the fight in the warehouse.

My favorite scene?
The beginning of the Unity Festival, when we see that far off figure of the Goblin, a mere black dot, arcing down between the buildings leaving a trail of exhaust.
THATS the scene I ALWAYS wanted in a Spider-Man movie if they ever made it, and, well they did..and it's there.

My favorite scene isn't listed:
It's where Peter tells JJJ that what he's saying about Spidey is slander and is informed that no, libel is printed and slander is spoken. Then just as PP is leaving, Goblin crashes in to find out where the photographer is that takes those pictures of Spider-man. JJJ hesitates. He's a newspaper man; he doesn't reveal his sources, so he blusters. Just as Goblin is going to whack him, Spidey makes his appearance (using my favorite spidey position - the hanging web!!).
JJJ is outraged. "I KNEW you were in on this!" he charges. Spidey webs him in the mouth (how humiliating!!! - I just couldn't stop laughing) and says "Let mom and dad talk". Then Goblin sprays that knock out gas, catches him as he drops and flies off with Spidey.
Wonderful.
I also love the scene right after where as Spidey is fighting off the affects of the gas, Goblin is trying to convince him that they should join forces to stop their destructive battling and because people will eventually turn against him.
Spidey looks so helpless; and Goblin's speech actually is appealing and makes sense (in a maniacal sort of way). Anyway I thought these were the best scenes in a great movie.

Oooh, yes, I love this one too. I love the characterization of JJJ in this scene. First we see him as very pragmatic. He doesn't care that Peter's acusing him of "slander," he just cares that Peter gets the term right. LOL! Then how he doesn't give away Peter's name. There is a great nobility in that moment, in JJJ sticking to his ethics as a newspaper man even when his life is at risk. This just adds so much depth to his character beyond "raving boss who hates Spider-Man." He's a jerk, but he's got a basic moral core and I like that.
And yeah, Spidey's arrival and his "let mom and dad talk" quip after webbing JJJ's mouth shut was one of my favorites, too.

the whole movie really rocks, an instant classic. well i voted for peter's speech at the hospital cause its the first time he said something to MJ with confidence. besides its also really romantic and not cheesy. runnerup is uncle Ben's death, that's the scene that really put peter on his track on becoming spidey.

Although part of the uncle ben's death scene, I loved when peter took off down the alley and changed to his costume while running and then leaps onto the wall. This is one of the few parts in the movie where I thought the score was perfect for what was happening too. I also loved the part where peter grabs the carjacker after realizing who he is. Tobey caught the hatred and anger peter felt perfectly in his facial expression. It's like he couldn't even say anything so he just lets out a scream (actually more like a roar) and grabs him.

Although I thought that everything in the movie was wonderful, I was particulary fond of the transformation of Peter into Spider-Man, especially when he is trying to get his web swinging abilities under control.
A sequence that was totally necessary in the film, it was handled with a refreshing dose of humor, which underlined Sam Raimi's almost childish sense of humor (just look at his other works). It was lighthearted, yet underscored the idea of the immense power Peter now possesed, and that he wouldn't be this great superhero overnight. It pierced into the heart of the story - the human interest aspect. Peter doesn't get bitten and automatically become Spider-Man. He's still a human being - prone to error, confusion, fear, and fustration. And by making the scene humorous, the audience gets the idea while having fun with the movie.

"Go Webs, Go!"
The scene right after flash when Pete is learning his new crawling abilities and trying out his web shooting skills? I liked this scene, and possibly the funnest. I can't believe no one has mentioned it?
But I love the car chase scene the best. Raimi let's us swing with Spidey, and that was purely awesome.

I voted for the final scene also. That was one heck of a fight between Spiderman and the Green Goblin.
I loved the fact also that even though the Green Goblin knew Spiderman was Peter Parker he still called him Spiderman. The part I like the best in the scene is when the Green Goblin steps on Spiderman's hand and says, "You've spun your last web Spiderman."
I also did not notice this in the list but the part when we see the glider for the first time when Norman is showing his bosses around and that guy is using it. I remember thinking how cool they pulled that off.

A good scene is when he is leaving the unity day parade with MJ the scene when he is holding her and you get the spectators view of him swinging around the corner. It reminded of something out of a Alex Ross graphic novel. It really showed the scale of the buildings and what it would look like to look up at someone like that.

OH MY LORD!!!!! for all of you who voted for Spidey's first swing as favorite, YOU HAVE GOT to watch it in super slow-mo on your dvd!!!!!! (if you havent already)
if you didnt know already, as spidey is chasing uncle ben's killer, just like in the track competitions when they jump over the hurdles, spidey was swinging like a mug over the lightposts, each one of them. it was so realistic....so beautiful sniff sniff
peter swung and pulled himself with his web over the lamp lightposts so gracefully, it almost brought tears to my eyes.
Has anyone else seen this???!! i never actually noticed until i watched it in slow mo
this scene, my friends, dwarfs all other scenes of the movie, including the last swing scene

I voted for the final showdown with the Goblin. Simply a breathtaking scene. The atmosphere was just incredible. The best part was there was no music, so you really get sucked in, it's like you're actually there. And you feel the force of the punches. Furthermore, throughout the movie, Spider-man was a dominant force, but here he goes up against a formidable foe and pretty much get's his ass whooped - a clear indication that he was still new to this whole superhero thing and haden't fully mastered his abilities.
It all came together to form one brutal knock-down.

There was no way I could vote for this scene. It's not that I don't think the scene was excellent. I do. But for me the plot hole it creates is so GIGANTIC it takes away from the effect of the scene itself. Maybe his next fight will be more "superhero" like. After all he hasn't had his powers for very long at this point and is still learning to use them. Up until this point he's only had to deal with a few minor criminals whom a 1, 2 punch would knock out and he could then leave them webbed up for the cops.

Considering there was no Spider-Man at this point in time? No one.
It was, what? Several months later till Spidey started to appear. Do you really think someone at the school would think back -
"Hey...remember that time when Nerdy Parker ran out of the caf with that tray dangling from his wrist? I mean, that could ONLY be spider webbing, right? And when he flipped over Flash like one of our cheerleaders? And knocked Flash back? WOW! He MUST be Spider-Man!"
The only responce to that would be -
"Why the hell are you thinking about Parker now?"

You know what sequence I liked in the movie? It was the scene where Spidey uses some flagpoles(?) to fling himself quickly to the bridge. That was genius, showing one of his swinging tricks, and I can't believe you guys seldom mention that. After that, he uses the railings to swing to Gobby like he uses the lampposts on the steets. It was breathtaking since a wrong move can cause him to violently whack against a metal bar and by the velocity he's swinging, lose a limb.
Ouch. :)

The whole movie was tremendously good...
My favorite scenes were:
Spider-Man' chase scene..
It was done so well and the action was tense and into it, and the web slinging was just superb and the CG proved that it can handle anything..
The World Unity Festival
This scene, was so good..The Goblin's entrance was endearing and so smooth bringing destruction to such a flavored environment, and I know when everyone saw those board members radiate and crumble, you had to love what was going on. It was the fist time we saw how strong the Goblin was and how much firepower that glider had and how Spider-Man and Goblin had their first fight..I mean,..it was just soo great
The burning building
The two main characters in their alter egos go at it in one of the most spectacular action sequences since LOTR and the Matrix..This scene showed what Spider-Man can do and also told Goblin what he was up against..
Aw, there is so much I want to talk about, but I can never type so much without stopping,..I'll post the rest later..

For some people this may be a moot part of the picture, but I still can't get enough of the scene when Peter is shooting his webs in the room the morning after he designs his outfit.
I like that fast-paced, violin-screaming theme that is played during the scene when Peter keeps shooting for that soda can with this determined look on his face. Finally, when he gets the can with his web, he tugs it toward him wicked quick with Raimi's signature whip-pan camera shot. Anyone else like this scene?
I'm also very keen on the moment when Peter mourns Ben's death while staring at one of his costume drawings and hearing his uncle's words echo in his memory. Then when we see Peter's face glued on the drawing the music accentuates us to Peter's point of view as Spidey, swinging the streets for the first time. Every time I see that scene I get so pumped! The first time I saw it in the theatre, I was thinking "Oh yeah! And here we go! It was like watching the first play of an exciting game or something.

that was the one scene that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Second to that was JJJ's entrance. J.K is the MAN!
I would have voted for Uncle Ben's death, since it was a very powerful scene, but the ****ty CGI of the wall crawling ruined some of it for me...

My favorite scene is when Gobby comes and creates all the carnage:bomb: and then Peter starts running to a hiding spot while ripping open his shirt revealing the spider-man suit:spidey:!!

Ah, yes.... I was sitting there thinking: "Finally, at last and about time too, this guy is going to wreak havok. OH, GOOD! Bring it on!" and he certainly did not disappoint.....!

I thought the final fight was the best part. I was expecting to have sort of a Batman movies-like ending, where Spidey had some struggle but basically got away mostly unscathed, as the villain died somehow as the hero walked away or whatever.
I was really shocked in a great way when Spidey was thrown though the wall, had a pumpkin bomb explode in his face and was basically pummeled.

I loved the final scene but not as much as I loved the scene where norman and the goblin converse in the mirror.

My personal fav is at the end when :spidey: is swinging on his web on top of buildings and then it goes to the credits.

Mine would have to be that brutal final fight and spidey chasing after uncle ben's killer. That sequence was hectic!

You are Flash Thompson, one of the toughest guys in school, and your get clobbered by the school dweeb, in front of everybody... wouldn't you remember this??? I know I would.
Not to mention all of Flash's close friends, Mary Jane and Harry Osbourne...

My favorite scene is when Spidey is perched on top of that rock as norman dies, it was a very cool pose very classic Spider-pose. Also the scene when Gobby talks to a groggy Spider-Man on the roof top after gassing him in J.J.'s office. I can't wait for the new movie! :D :wolverine

Final Fight, especially the Green Goblin's threats to Spidey about his loved ones.

I went with the bridge decision, just cause i liked it that he had a choice and how he made his choice and trying to save both parties as the Goblin is after him. But the final fight is also a good part.

one of the coolest scenes was when GG threw the rope around spidey's waste and carried him off, away from the bridege.

I have to say the final fight between Spidey and GG was my favorite scene. It was so brutal and just really well staged. The way pete really gets messed up was great in showing he isnt invincible and the pumkin bomb going off in his face was great. The whole scene was a great culmination of all the conflict between the two.
My favorite moments included Normans mirror conversation. That really gave us insight into his character and set him apart from just another cliched comic book villain and let us get inside his head. Also I have to admit seeing spidey swing for the first time in all his glory chasing the thug who killed uncle ben really gave me a thrill.:spidey: :bomb:

Ok, 1) Thats the uncle ben death scene , its all one big scene and 2) Your telling me that your favourite scene in the movie was a decent piece of CGI that lasts no longer than a minute? , dude, you need to watch more movies.....

my favorite scene is uncle ben's death...because Peter for the first time really uses all his powers at that moment to get the killer. i love when he's running down the ally and is changing into his costume then jumps on the wall...he successfully web slings for the first time, and he does my favorite move of all, the "Yo-Yo" i love when he does it. i was dissapointed he didn't do it in the 2nd movie. but thats my favorite scene in spidey 1.

"I swear on my father's grave Spider-man will pay. Thank God for you Pete..."
".....and I thought I was going die, there was only one person I was thinking of...and it wasn't who I thought it'd be. It was you Pete."
Also love the feild trip:
Harry: ...I know, I hate the little things-
MJ: I love 'em.
Harry: Yeah, me too.
I found it interesting that MJ loves spiders and Harry hated them....alittle forshadowing?

the finalswinging scene is incredible the motion is ripped right out of a comic book in spidey 2 they couldn't top it with the eng swing and the helicopters.
if the train sequence is my favorite spidey scene in 2, the final swing in spidey 1 is a VERY close second.

I think the bridge decision was the best. Good emotion, nice tight little special effects sequence, right amount of suspense...
I mean, it's not like Batman could do that.
And Superman was off sealing earthquakes when Lois Lane got killed.
And Daredevil....well, he just kind screwed up all over.

How about the scene where Peter comes home from being bitten, passes out sweating like a hooker in church, wakes up in his blue jeans, throws on a shirt and runs out to school? Can you imagine the odor wafting off him all day? Imagine going to the gym, having the hardest workout session of your life, going home, sleeping and getting up the next day without changing your underwear or showering?
Man, he must have been ripe!!!

Easily my favorite scene from the franchise so far....The "Kiss" is up there for the originality of it. I mean come on now, it was set up perfectly. How many guys wish they could kiss there girlfriends while hanging upside down in the rain???
But yea, the chasing of Uncle Ben's killer.
A thing of beauty.
