The Batman Comic Con Report

A good friend of mine, known as Ruseri, went to Comic Con and saw everything related to The Batman's new season.

Here is his report:


Firstly, I'd like to report some amazing surprises involving voice-casting.

The Everywhere Man will be voiced by none other than Superman himself, Brandon Routh!!!! Not only that, but Dick Grayson's father will be voiced by, for most people the definitive Batman (brace yourselves) ... KEVIN CONROY!!

I have video footage of the upcoming season that I will provide a link to later, but the quality is quite bad (though most of it should be fairly easy to make out).

Amoung appearances, in video form, we have; Harley Quinn (who looks amazing), Killer Moth, Black Mask, The Everywhere Man, and Clayface II (Matt Hagen). We're also treated to futuristic (the year 2027 to be exact) looks at Batman (think huge, like in Dark Knight Returns), Barbara (or should i say Oracle? That's right! She's in a wheel-chair), Dick Grayson (Nightwing, anyone?), Mr. Freeze, and the new, tank-like Batmobile (once again, think DKR).

After this, we are shown footage of the actual show, which starts off with Dick spending some time with his parents and then goes into a funeral scene where Bruce explains that he is going to take Dick in as a foster son. Some training scenes follow (Bane, Killer Croc, Firefly, and a giant robot are among the fights that Robin is shown taking part in), along with a scene that has Robin capturing who is, I assume, his parents' killer (his actual name is not mentioned). A final dramatic scene of Batman standing with both Robin and Batgirl on a rooftop is topped off with the revealing of this JLA member we've all been wondering about.

MARTIAN MANHUNTER! It will apparently happen in the season finale two-parter.

This sounds really cool, I was not very impressed with the last season but it sounds like this next one has some potential. We'll have to see. I'm keeping an open mind.

I also heard to expect the Mad Hatter in a cameo and Mark Hamill is involved in the show. I don't know what he'll voice though.

Yeah, right. :rolleyes: I'll try to keep an eye out for the Nightwing eps, but as good as BTAS? A show like that only comes around once in a lifetime.

Speaking of an episode taking place in the future, it would be cool if they had an episode starring Terry McGinnis and an old Bruce Wayne. I would love to see Matsuda and crew's vision of the tomorrow knight

This season seems to be good but ... wait and see.
Personally I keep disliking the designs ... except Clayface. Well I keep my mind open , wait and see.

In terms of Nightwing: I like the short hair look from the comics over the mullet he had in BTAS, he looks loads more badasas with short hair

I've only seen the first season. I need the rest of the seasons to be released on dvd. But I like what I hear about later seasons. I hope they are as good as people make them out to be.

MORE NEWS OF SEASON 4 THANKS TO COMICSCONTINUUM. Revealing just a bit more:

"My favorite one to work on was probably the Harley episode," producer Jeff Matsuda said during a panel at Comic-Con International last weekend. "Paul Dini wrote a great script, with a lot of humor -- black humor, of course. I just love the character."

In other The Batman news:

* Veteran voice director Andrea Romano joins the show this season and brings some other guest-stars: Kevin Conroy as Dick Grayson's father, Brandon Routh as Everywhere Man, James Remar as Black Mask, Jeff Bennett as Killer Moth and Dorian Harewood as Martian Manhunter.

* The producers said this show will be more "comics fan friendly."

"The whole universe widens to the end, where you'll believe that Batman is ready to join the Justice League," Alan Burnett said. (blinker says "YAY!!!!!!")

* A story will take place 20 years in the future. Images of a Dark Knight-ish Batman, Oracle and Nightwing were shown.

* The two-part season finale will deal with an alien invasion.

* Other writers will include Doug Petrie and Jane Eppeson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Steve Melching and Stan Berkowitz, who is writing the origin of The Riddler.

* Producer Michael Goguen was that the show include the beginning of Robin.

I should also say as well that Evan Sabara, who voices Robin in this season, sounds almost identical to Scott Menville who played Robin from Teen Titans.
