most people know the origion of The Mandarin
but for people who dont heres some cliff notes

Child of a Rich China man whos parents died when he was a child was rasied by aunt
Very smart at a young age..
and took up science
useing parents money and his skills he becomes very well known and powerful governemtn official like a Mandarin

well the communist party takes over and everything is taken away
pissed off and sad he goes to a place called "vally of spirits"
and finds a downed alien space cradt with alien technology
and uses it for power

OK.. now there the origion

BUT to make all that fit in a movie along with Iron man's Origion HERES what I think the movie should do.. and what they most likly will do

Ok to make to it workout for the Movie fans have him as a Scientist FOR the government sence it's in morden times and the communist party has been around for more then 60 years..
he's against the party because of what they did to hsi family
so while he's working on projects he makes a new weapon becomes drunk with power and kills off a few china army men and lab assassitants and takes on the name Mandarin..

NOW heres what I think the movie people will do
the Mandarin is still a scientist ONLY he's working for Stark Industries, working for the weapons department, as he's working he makes a new weapon small enough to fit in the palm of his hands "the rings" he relises that he can take these and make his own company and become strong with power and cash... makes a fake accident and takes on the name Mandarin...

I gotta say I would not be upset if that was what they did with him, I like the realistic approach, it's something I myself am hoping for. Time for a bit of give and take, here's my Mandarin origin story.

Mandarin is the head of a business in China that works closely with it's government, more often than not they deal in under the table sort of deals. Black Market stuff. When the Chinese government hears of the Iron Man suit they decide they want it for mass production so they ask Mandarin to contact Tony Stark. Of course Stark doesn't give over the information so Mandarin, who won't take no for an answer, covertly leads some of his people into America. Once in New York he attacks the Stark Industries building, his troops use his own technology, and he tries to find the schematics for the suit. This brings him to blows with Iron Man and he is defeated, but not destroyed. He did get something from the industry. An abandoned project for certain rings that, if modified, could emit EMP fields, change temperatures, create computer viruses. Think technological magic. After the rings are constructed he kills off his crew, breaks his allegiance with the Chinese government, and swears the death of Iron Man so he can instigate a corporate take over of Stark Industries.

Warlord. If Tony Stark makes his armor as a P.O.W, then odds are The Mandarin is going to be some kind of warlord.
