View Full Version : Stupid comments your Friends made about Batman Begins?
Ok I know alot of us geeks when it comes to Batman so have you ever had a friend who said soemthing so stupid about Batman that u just wanted to punch him/her in the face :) for not knowing better!!
I had quite alot of stupid comments said to me but chose not to remember them but one of the latest ones i heard was about the joker. I was talking to my friend telling him to guess who's been casted as the joker.
His theory was that Liam Neeson survives the train crash and comes out scared on his face and becomes the joker!!! wtf
Did he miss the fact that he played Ducard then revealed himself to be Ra's he not suddenly gonna change his mind and be joker in the next movie.
Seriopusly people need more knowledge on certain topics before discussing them.

I have only 1 who said the movie was "a bit too long". Everybody else who saw it thought it was great.

Well my friends know about SHH but they don't really like Batman or another superhero. Tho they did ask why Joker didn't kill Wayne's parents in BB.

I think all my friends who saw the movie liked it. My roommate's g/f did say she thought it was "a little boring" and as a result I immediately demanded he break it off with her... j/k

Honestly, I've heard no one complain. My gf liked it, same for family and friends. The stupidiest comments I heard concerning BB came from the media ("This sequel to 1994's 'Batman Returns'...")

One acquaintance thought it was a "plot hole" that the Fear gas is released and there's no acknowledgement of it later. I pointed out that Gordon does acknowledge it later when speaking to Batman on the roof, saying, "The Narrows is lost...". It's a clear statement that there's been a lot of damage done and there's a lot of work to do to fix it.
It's not really a stupid comment, just something my friend missed, but it underscores the point that this is a well-thought out film that deserves multiple viewings to catch all the subtleties.

Last year, I talked with my history teacher about comic book movies that are coming out and rumors. He's one of those guys that love comic book movies, but rarely reads the comics. So we were talkng about BB and this girl who overheard calls out
"Scarecrow? How could they make Scarecrow the main villian? He sucked."
Luckily, my history teacher chimed in.
"Scarecrow wasn't the only villian. Ras Al Ghul...."

Well, I have no friends....so, I'll mention comments I've heard other places.
Like, on G4TV....some chick called Batman in BATMAN BEGINS, a "whimp". I mean, wtf???
She also said, "Why's his voice like that? I mean it's nothing like his normal voice, it makes no sense that he makes his voice like that".
And for christ's sake.....the "prequel" comment.....I want to beat ppl to death with that.
But, the cake goes to Katie Holmes when she was interviewed on David Letterman.....she said it was a mother****ing prequel. Yes, she actually said it was a prequel. With millions of people tuning in to find out more about her and her beau, Tommy Cruise, and having they're ears open on Batman Begins....she calls it a prequel.
I partly blame her for the "prequel" stamp some people give the movie.

To be fair, the average movie goer-isn't quite into Batman as us Bat-geeks, I think they could be forgiven their uncaring attitude. Don't forget, the average citizen looks at people like us with much suspicion. They think perhaps we're a little too involved with a comic-book superhero. And to a certain degree, they may be right!

Unfortunately, this was something a good friend of mine said after seeing the movie. I was digusted, but surprisingly understanding of his situation. Since all he knows of Batman is what he has seen in the movies. Kinda like Bryan Singer.

Let's not go for the "let's cut them a break." I cut my friends abreak way too much. This is harmless entertainment at it's finest.

^ His comic knowledge goes as far as reading a page or two of Hush at my house about a year ago, and seeing a few of the Spider-man animated series.

^ A different guy, similar stupid comment.
Those are the ones I can remember, it was a while ago I went to see it all with them. I remember thinking on the way back I had some real "idiot thread gems" so give me a while to remember them. I'm English, so my friends are even less informed than your friends.
