View Full Version : Villians you NEVER want to see...

On the Big screen.

Mine is easy, Spot.

I could also do without Spot. His abilities are cool but he's an awful looking villian. I could also do without Vulture.

Honestly, before SM2, I would have said Doc Ock. I always thought he was a very dated villian and couldn't be salvaged on the big screen. However, Molina changed my mind.

Rhino would be a great cameo character. I don't see nothing wrong with him. As for the others they all suck. I also think Chameleon and Boomerang suck too. Same with Man-Wolf.

As for the rest of Spider-Man rouges......

Silver Sable I'd love to see a movie of but it better be better than "Elektra."

Lol that I am.

I hated "Elektra." So poorly executed, the kid and the father's acting sucked in, Terence Stamp as Stick was completely wasted, and Jennifer Garner while hot seemed bored throughout the whole movie.

Silver Sable and a Black Widow would be great films. Sexy feme fatales kicking ass and taking names with a plot.

I don't see the point of this thread. if all said villains came up in a dream sequence, everyone in this thread would die of a geekasm during the films.

why bother saying never, there will always be room for characters in films, no matter how small. I mean fans love nothign more than cameos so why bother restricting the extent of one in the films.

sometimes i wonder about you peeps...

Carnage. A second-rate Joker personality fitted with second-rate Venom powers. Unoriginal to the core, and to this day I can't understand why so many people like him.

Chris Wallace
08-10-2006, 04:49 PM
I was a Carnage fan at one point. I saw him as Venom without the moral code. Then I came to realize that Venom's moral code, like most aspects of him, didn't make much sense. Then I just got sick of both of them. I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to seeing Venom in a movie after years of protesting that it should never be. But it looks like they're going to handle him intelligently, & I trust Raimi.
And I wouldn't compare Carnage's personality to Joker's; he's more like Sabretooth. Joker revels in the death, not the killing, if that makes sense. Carnage wants to see the person writhe in their death throes w/their blood dripping off his claws (which I don't think he can even see.) while Joker likes to look at the aftermath & laugh. He's more about the theatricality than the kill. I'd bet if he could, he'd keep his victims alive just so he could do it to them all over again.

Carnage and Joker aren't alike at all. Read the Spidey/Batman crossover from '95. They argue about their respective approaches to villiany and it's quite a contrast.

Little threat of these.
Hammerhead looks like a Dick Tracy villain & is way too one-dimensional to make it to film.
Beetle is better fit for Iron Man, & why use him when you've got Scorpion?
THe rest are too ridiculous & unlikely to touch on.

If I could think of a way that he could translate to film, it'd be a different matter. A dude wearing a lion's mane & trying to hunt in the big city is just too outlandish.

the thing is the characters that end up in the films are not necessarily the ones you have been reading about, that can be said about pretty much the majority of people that have ended up in the spidey films...

i don't understand how hating a character in one media can mean you completely wish to deny their existence in another.

That's what happened with Doc Ock. He was always a dangerous foe in the comics but his classic look was just awful. I didn't think he would come off well at all in SM2 but they changed him just enough and Molina just owned the screen.

While I disagree with your opinion that his classic look was awful, I do agree it would not translate well onto screen. But then that goes for most of the classic villain's costumes. In the Goblin's case, they look worse on screen. They just can't seem to translate them well at all costume wise.

But Ock went thru costume changes over the years. And I wanted to see him in his slick white armani suit at some point in the movie. But the trenchcoat look was just as awesome.

The suit would have indeed been cool. I can understand your loyalty to the character but when he first showed up in Spidey #3, he looked like a pudgy nursing home worker with tentacles. The green tights weren't any better. He acutaly looked more fearsome when he had his shirt and glasses off. They got that look into the movie and the trenchcoat/tussled hair was cool.
Speaking of early Spidey villians, does anyone want to see the Enforcers on screen? :down

Umm... I want to see them. They could be the right hand men of a crime lord and I don't think they would look ridiculous if portrayed smartly.

I don't want to see villains like hydroman and sandman on the big screen because their powers and origins are too hard to explain. I'm also skeptical on Vulture being on the big screen. I hope Sandman isn't going to be cheesy in Spiderman 3.

I personally would love any good Spidey Villian including Vulture cause I used to thick yeah bald old dude with wings just not gonna work but I have seen one piece of artwork that completely changed my mind and ever since I think the ideas are brilliant, funnyily I also thought lizard might come out wrong if he did to much hissin and spittin but again concept art changed my mind as to others mentions I think hydroman would be difficult to translate believeably, bettle good be good but not in the sense of him just bein a lacky and not talkin he must be a dynamic character you must come to understand him- im not too familiar with beetle in the comics so i dont no much about his character but this reinvention thing could get rid of bad bits, we must have walrus sorry gotta happen so as aunt may as carnage, rhino and shocker etc must be in even if just like a james bondy openin thing they deserve that and you can still develop there characters to make them interesting its only 2 hours long of which they get about 20 minutes if they lucky not like 40 years of comics history is it,kraven no just nasty unless again raimi does his magic and charlmelon or however its spelt aint even worth gettin his name right for a movie he would be naff for spidey anyway not even worth a cameo unless of course he cameo's but spidey never actually fights him, silver stable deffo we need more kick ass lovely's in films but no leather for god sake give her a sleek practical uniform thats not just there to flash her brests (although i wouldnt complain) after that all villains should be mentioned like something like a newspaper, walnus stopped by spidey and not actually seen cause in that sense it would add to the dyanmics of the world and make it more dense and rich a picture on the news or front pages could be just enough

They would have to be completely reenvisioned. Among the Spidey villians of the first 2 years, they were the undisputed worst. If they did make them look more like acceptable modern gangsters, then they could work for Kingpin or Tombstone.

Yeah, they have to be tweaked, but they're meant to look like gangsters, so just modernize their looks. Put modern clothing on them and have them wield guns, that should do. Having the Kingpin in would be interesting, but I'd like to see "the big man" because it adds more to the JJJ and Spidey conflict that I want to see. Also the big man is almost like the doppleganger of Spidey: he's not big, but he's smart and has a disguise.

Dressing them all like 40s gangsters would be ok. However, the cowboy hat/lasso combo just strikes me as cheesy. Also, Ox needs a suit or something different than the t-shirt & vest combo. I'm still not sold but it would make sense to see them with Kingpin if he makes it into a Spidey movie.
