Donnie. In the books and on the shows, he was the one always having the bizzare adventures on his own or with April, when it came to the "weird even for a giant ninja turtle" type stuff. And technically if you go by the video games, he's the strongest turtle physically, though ironically he only uses force as a last resort against enemies. Most younger people always relate to Raphael because the anti-hero is what's cool nowadays, and he's the one that wears his anger on his sleeve like a lot of them do.

I love the true incarnation of Raphael. Less of the sarcastic, meaner version of Michaelangelo as seen in: Original cartoon, TMNT 2 and 3. But more of the Mirage, TMNT 2k3, and TMNT 1990 version of Raphael. The mis-understood turtle. The turtle who wears his emotions on his sleeve. The turtle who is still steadily finding his place in this world. He's the most relateable for me. To me, he is the most heroic of the bunch. He's always ready and willing to fight for what he believes in. He's not just a hard headed, bad ass kind of dude either. He legitimately cares about people, even with his rough demeanor. He easily has the most heart, of all the turtles. He may be the strongest physically, but he isn't the teacher's pet, always looking to be the golden boy ala Leonardo. He isn't the most naturally gifted fighter, and most athletic turtle like Michaelangelo. And he isn't as analytical and as smart as Don. But what makes him the most vital piece to the Turtles is he is their drive. Their emotional core. Leaonardo steers them, but Raphael is their engine.

When I was younger, I used to pick whom I like best according to their colors. Leo was my favorite because my favorite color's blue. Followed by Raph coz he's red, Mikey coz he's orange and Don coz he's purple (my least favorite color). But as I grow older and started to love the characters because of their characterization rather than their color, I find that the order of my preference hasn't changed at all.

Leo's my first favorite because he's a leader and his personality fits his leadership position perfectly. I like Raph because ... well, he's badass. :up: Mike is goofy and he makes me laugh and Don... Don is Don. If they were my children, I'll love them all equally though.

This is tough! As a fan and a religious viewer of the 80s cartoon, I never had a favourite because they were all different yet awesome at the same time.
After watching the new movie, I was impressed that they didn't f up the character's personalities.

Leo - the by the book leader
Raph - the persistently ever loving hot head
Don - the brains
Mike - the joker

All are brillaint figters and have individual qualities that I think as people we'd all like to have. However, if I had to choose 1, it'd probably be mike because not only is he a brillaint fighter, you can tell he loves what he does with explosive passion. His comic timing is perfect and isn't annoyingly over the top.

It's great that the turtles each have interesting personality's that appeal to different people. I kinda found Donnatello boring but i see now why some people find him the most interesting. I think Mikey would be even more popular if they made him grow up a little. Keep the debonair and witty attitude but make him more serious when it comes to fighting. They should show bad ass side more. A serious ass kickin' Mikey would be scary.

Yeah, I think the leader is the voice or reason they don't want to hear because we all have to at times... even though as you get older you start to realize that the real strength is in doing what's right instead of what's cool.

Don't really have a favorite X-men member per se, but I'd guess Wolverine would be my favorite. He's the most interesting, and is a character that can get your blood pumping and is relatable in grounded reality, and ideals. Flawed heroes are to me the most appealing.

I get the theme of your post and your questions. Yes, of course Batman is my 'favorite DC guy.' He's my favorite character in comics period. You couldn't use deductive reasoning with my screen name to figure that out? :dry:

Anyway, me liking Batman has less to do with him being a 'loner' than what you're trying to mold my opinion into. Infact, that isn't even close as to why he is my favorite comic book character.

Really? Those are the only two types of people who like Raphael? **** outta here, son. Normally kids flock to Michaelangelo out of any of them.

Don't be mad that the "Loner Badass" is the most popular one. Everyone loves the Loner. Girls want to be with them, guys want to be them. But of course Raphael has no responsibility, right? Maybe people like Loner's more because they wear their emotions on their sleeves, and have the balls to tell people where to stick it. They speak from the heart, and are always sincere.

It's sort of one dimensional to say it's as simple as "the loner has more heart than the others". I don't think that's true at all. I don't think Raph has more heart than the rest of the team, and I don't think Wolverine or Batman has more heart than their teammates either. With the turtles specifically, I think Raph has become the loner simply because the MOVIE needed one, because it needed inner conflict with the team and they sorta borrowed the classic Cyclops/Wolverine relationship. Still, I think if you really look into it, it's not very realistic to say the loner is always right, the loner is more honest, or that the loner has more heart or emotion. Just because somebody goes around with their emotions or temper out of control doesn't mean the others don't HAVE them, it just means that they have them in check and are slightly more mature about them. Raph is an amazing character but I don't think he has more heart than the others, Leo specifically. I think that on the inside they are equally driven to do what's right, but that they take different roads to get there and that Leo is much more mature about what he says and does where as Raph just does whatever without thinking of the consequences.

I was totally annoyed with how the X-Men movies were making it look like you can be a complete jerk, make fun of the people you care about to the point of making them feel like crap, and at the same time be a selfless hero. Sure, it works in lala land and Clint Eastwood movies, but if you really care that much about people, you don't try to hurt them or verbally rip them apart at every opportunity. That shows total insecurity. Movies and comics tend to make these characters who in real life would mentally be unstable and who would probably cry themselves to sleep, but what they do is they strip away all of the emotionally insecure aspects of the characters, leaving them with only the "cool" parts of being a jerk. It's not realistic. Any brother who makes fun of his brothers every day would have a hard time sleeping at night if he really cared, and he'd apologize if he were an adult at all. He wouldn't keep doing it and somehow be made out to be the better man in the end. That's anti-hero crap and it is running rampant in our stories these days because let's be honest, it sells.

I think in the original film my favorite was Raphael the whole movie until that awesome scene with Leonardo sitting by the tub... and that's when Leo became my fav. As a kid, of course it's Michaelangelo as a kid, he was the "funny guy" and probably nowadays the kids all like Raph, as he's become the "bad ass". The one who was never my favorite was Donatello tho... just didn't care about the purple dude. In the new movie, it's a tie between Leo and Raph... until Raphael really starts hogging the screen time.

As weapons go, i´ll always be a sword man, so, Leo on that.
As character go, all have something to offer, but i´ll go with Ralph on this one

The cool thing is, the four of them represent the teenage years.

Michelangelo is the immature, crazy, party teen, always happy with being alive
Raphael is the melancholy, trying to find a place where to fit in, which makes in violent and a rebel, an outcast
Leonardo is always worrying too much about everyone, always wanting for things to go smoothly, always trying to be a father figure
Donatello is the unknown, the discovery

Raph is my favourite, although by that I mean the Raph of the first movie. I don't like the Raph of the 2003 cartoon, he's more like Wolverine.

Leo is second, although he can be prone to 'Cyclops Syndrome', looking like a bland do-gooder at times.

Don is great, everybody likes Don.

Mikey has just never appealed to me as much. I like him obviously, and understand the importance of comic relief in the group dynamic, but it's harder to take him seriously as a stealthy ninja.

He's supposedly the most mature after Leonardo, and the early cartoon usually had him creating battle plans on occasion as well when it came to locating the Technodrome and battling technology. Raphael has never been in charge like Wolverine, but he gets thrust into the role because he's the resident bad ass.

well when i was a child it was always donatello but after watchin numerous episodes of cartoons and the movies id have to say michelangelo.

He the most caring for splinter. (see TMNT movie - he passes dessert to his father and taps it as if to say 'here pops this is yours' and at winters tower he turns mid fight and asks if splinter is ok.)

He wields the most skilled weapon and in one of the cartoons when all turtles switch weapons his is the only weapon that doesnt get used by anyone else cos they cant handle it like he can.

In the battle nexus he whoops raph without even trying and then goes onto win the tournament....

If you watch the original Turtles movie when they are all training in the field mikey beats them all down then too...

Hands down he is the strongest,most compassionate and most skilled turtle.

I remember being in Cosco when I was around 5 and finding the original tv piolt with a figure. You could get any of the turtels but I picked Raph. Not because of him, I hadn't seen the show yet, but because he was red and it was my favorite color. I'd have to say though as a child Mikey was my fav in the show.

As I got older and rewatched the 80s toon and the new 03 I started to relate a lot more to Raph. And in the new movie when Splinter is talking to him it sounded real similer to a talk my father gave me.
