On occasion I do.
My youngest daughter was born 2 1/2 months early only weighing 3 lbs. I did a lot of praying, when she was 1 week old they found blood dripping out of her, finding out it was a tear in her small intenstine, due to an allergy to milk. But she is about 2.5 years old now, and she's fine, below is a picture of when she was born and one of the newest pictures I have.
When she was born.

Praying. This is what I dont get.
You pray and something good happens, its because you prayed. You pray and something bad happens and it was "gods will". Where is the accountability there? I really believe its BS.

Once you're done mourning, grieving, etc; the irrationality of that way of thinking will hit you. Still horrible that it happened :(

I didn't say I ask Him for stuff. Prayer =/= requesting favors. I really do just talk so no answer is necessary. Determining what counts as an "answer" though is something that's troubled me for years though.

Why not ask yourself the questions. Talk to yourself. At least you get an answer. Whats the point of talking to someone if you get nothing from it?

1. Just talking can work wonders. Like venting but you're not angry.
2. They're not questions, so I don't need an answer.
3. I like having the faith, adds some comfort and spice to this otherwise dull and doomed world.

True, fear of being banned shouldn't cause you to punk out and not speak your mind, just keep it respectful. And the truth is, some people like to dwell; not necessarily Dew, but dwelling keeps people from dealing with the healing process. It sux and it's counter-productive but it's true. :(

I've prayed before. Like in sweat lodges and at peyote meetings everyone prays. I have also prayed on my own a few times, but I've never done it regularly. I don't know why... it's a good thing and I will try to do it more. A focused mind is a powerful thing.

If god talks to me I'll talk back, but until then, no.
Prayer isn't neccessarily about talking to god.
In my opinion there is no "god" that is listening and will use his power to make things better. But there is a lot of power in focusing your mind on something, focusing your thoughts on a specific desire or goal. This is the kind of prayer I grew up with, the kind of prayer my parents usually do.
A lot of people don't realize how powerful the human mind can be. A lot of people also don't realize that thoughts can affect reality. I think much of the reason is that there is so much to the human mind and reality itself that we really don't understand.

if no, why dont you?All of the family members of the miners in Virginia exclaimed that it was proof that "Prayer Works!" and that there is such a thing as a "Guardian Angel" when the fallible media reported that 12 miners had been found!:)
Once the dumb-ass media clarified, that 12 BODIES had been located,....herm.....I guess by the logic of those painfully gullible, stupid women, it's "proof" that prayer doesn't work and that there IS no such thing as "Guardian Angels".

i thinks it's good that people believe in something, and have something to pray to. i don't pray, not really. i don't talk to god because that's a no-no in my book. i don't really believe in a god, but i do believe there's a possibility that there COULD be one. i'm mostly a science type of guy anyway. like i said, i don't pray, not anymore at the very least, but if i do pray, or decide to talk to a "higher being", it's gonna be my mother. she's my "god", my gardian angel.

I don't, simply because I'm not really sure where I am belief-wise. As in, does the higher being react to prayer in that way.

Further proof that prayer =/= asking for favors. When did everybody get together and decide that God sits around and grants people favors? Sounds like everybody wants a genie, not God. Just talk to Him.

When I pray it isn't for favors, it is to either a)right some wrong that I have done in the past. or b) to provide me (or someone else) the strength to get through something.

Exactly (like at the beginning of this thread), when my youngest daughter was born, I didn't pray for the favor of being alright, but I prayed that she be given the strength to be alright and survive, and she did. Imagine how mad I would have been if I had asked for Him to make her ok, and she had died.
It is truly sad that people have to see God as their way out or that He is there to do anything we wish.
