How would you alter the films, in ANY way?

There are many parts of the films that many of us wish were fixed up a bit. A word of dialoge, the saturation of color in a scene, the order of shots or sequences, the general feel of the film, and so on.

With your suggestions I plan to re-edit the films and merge them for collectbility for X-Men fans such as yourselves by distribution over the internet or DVD.

This is your chance to voice your opinion on what the films should have looked like in true respect to the characters and to the art of film.


Plese feel free to use your imagination for the power of technology is able to fulfill your propositions.

This is an independent non-profit project I am doing for my own enjoyment and for the purpose of keeping truth to the will of the fans instead of 100% glorified sci-fi violence.

well so far we all have posted replies all indicating that burning burns. with various puns and jokes. However it still fails to adress the issue which is the focus of this hearing.

possible alterations i have heard mentioned sparsely in other threads. such as Wolverine's response to deahstrike's claws emerging....what can be done is to change the dialoge to "holy..." *abrupt action in fight sequence* like something whacking agianst something else as a simple cut of the dialoge.

another personal idea i had that i have done is to shorten the discussion/into dialoge with storm, jean and Kurt taking out the dialoge "Perhaps he is testing me." and then the pan to the Jesus statue. Instead just cutting to the next piece of dialoge which runs smoothly in this case. I figured stylistically his level of faith has already been confirmed elsewhere in the movie and the movie should be less central on individual characters if it will combine all of the films. so your ideas can still follow.

i wouldve liked more lil nods to the canon world. like some inside jokes that are funny to the masses, but make us fans chuckle knowingly too.

about the cyclops thing, i dont think they had much of a choice did they? i heard he didn't want to do it, plus he was also filming superman. i didn't want to see him die either but we all know in the marvel universe no one stays dead long

1. Rogue would have been found by Mystique and not Logan
2.Either/Or she would have been used to further Magneto's plan and heance change sides in the 1st Film or she would have seen what Phoenix could do and jump ship to help the X-Men in X3.
3. Cyc of course would show his true potential in 3 by taking the leadership role but so would Storm.
4. The deleted scenes from the DVD would be added espcially the fight at the Grey home.
5. Jean's Father would have been accepting of his daughter.
4. Jean would have have lifted herself from the water and the water surrounding her would have been in the shape of the Phoenix rapter.
5. Her power aura in 2 would be kept in 3.
6. All the mutants would have their actuall powers in 3.
7. Jean would have killed herself not Logan or at least if going down that road let it be Cyc.

There is ALWAYS a choice. They could have cast someone else for the part (how many different people have played Bond at this point). They could have him captured by the enemy. They could have had him disappear without an explanation (Secret Wars style).

all these things are true, and the majority of them are better choices than what they did.

You're definitly right about that... If the part of Cyclops were recast or if he just "vanished" without an explanation then the boards would just be BURNING with comments about it. :woot:

Have more variation in the costumes so they reflect the individual characters more, also I would'vr kepy Nightcrawler in X3 and given Colossus Soething else to do other than carry a TV and throw Wolverine.

I also would have liked for them to have included the cultural accents of Characters like Colossus and Storm.

Wiped X3 from existence. Then follow the phoenix storyline making sure to put the emphasis on the charm of Jean and the tragedy and the emotion. Also hire a decent director and script writers and give the film more time

i agree that would've been cool, but I can see why the used Storm. I think it's supposed to be a segway (prob spelled that wrong) to show her taking the mantle of running the school, or to show the relationship they had in the comics.

Yeah, thats a good call. I go with your first option, Storm is running the school and there for the kiddos. I just wish Pete could have been there for Kitty. It seemed they built up her needing someone, and well, I thought that would have been cool.

i wouldn't have minded more pete in the movie period. he barely said anything. some dialogue with someone, something substantial wouldve been nice

^ Yeah, I agree. I really did like the movie (I kind of just try and enjoy stuff when it comes out instead of being overly critical), but I would have enjoyed X3 so much more if Colossus actually was a character instead of just some strong guy.

Yeah same here. I am glad it ended with a kinda/sorta cliffhanger that opened the door for future films and I am glad they at least tried to bring the Phoenix into it....while not what I would have liked, I did enjoy it. I really liked Juggernaut in X3. I am really looking forward to the Wolverine movie.....

i wouldve liked to see a phoenix effect in the movie, whether it be a little one in her eyes during her "battle" with xavier. or one behind her during the end battle when she was destroying everything.

we saw hints of the phoenix in X2 in the scene in the blackbird and in alkali lake at the end. they shouldve carried this over and brought the effect into X3

X3: What about taking out some of the extra storylines? You got the cure, and the war with the humans, and the phoenix, plus you killed off a whole bunch of school staff so they've got some gaps to fill...

Why couldn't they just pick one story and do it well?

Personally I'd find some way to incorporate Sage and Gambit, cut out the cure thing and focus on the phoenix better, tone down the war as to more of a background thing and... about half a million other things. Its a good no-brainer as a film though.

Looking back there's a quite a lot of stuff I wish would have been done to these films that wasn't.

- Rogue being sassy, confident and strong in X3, I didn't mind her being afraid in 1 or for the bit she was like that in 2, but the end of 2 set up that she was gonna become more like herself from the comics and then X3 flew in the face of that.

- Iceman's character. He could have still been with Rogue, but was their really need to make him Mr. Everyman?

- Colossus needed a character. Desperately.

- Storm's character needed to be sorted out. In the three films as it stands she looks like she has one big multiple personality disorder.

- Phoenix wouldn't have been able to disintegrate people. More comic accurate powers for her.

- Cyclops would not have died in X3.

- Rogue would not have cured herself in X3.

- Not so much focus on Wolverine.

- Make the team feel like a family. The 3 films make it seem like ''Okay, you are my teammate." That's not the feel of the X-Men, the X-Men are a family. They are brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, lovers. You get the point.

- Everyone would have been from their respective country in the comics. The multi racial/culture thing is one of the many things that sets X-Men apart from other teams of superheroes.

- Nightcrawler in X3.

unfortunately alan cummings didnt want to reprise the role, and if there wouldve been a recast, ppl would be in an uproar about that too.

i agree, it seemed like there were way too many plots going on. i liked the mutants/human war cuz and the cure played on that. i wouldnt even have minded seeing the FOH and some riots or something, where we couldve seen little "easter eggs" so to speak of other mutants in action.

to be honest, i wouldve been ok if they didn't use the phoenix story in this one. since marsden was doing superman at the time, they couldve just showed him leaving for a while to grieve. the phoenix couldve been brought in number 4 or something, that way it could be handled properly.

Yeah... the whole phoenix thing deserves its own film. Thing is, to do phoenix as a film in its own right, you'd have to bring in a lot of backstory, so I guess they figured the way they did it in X3 was easier.

I really wish Nightcrawler could hav shown up also. Alot of people are upset that Rogue chose the cure, but to me that makes perfect sense. She joined (in the comics) the X-Men to learn how to control her powers. She was always wanting to be close to someone but couldn't. It just makes sense to me that she would want to be cured to be "normal". I don't really like it because Rogue is a stronger character in comics, but in the movie I guess it just.....worked.

when the first movie came out, i was irate over rogue's characterization. then i read some older comics and finally started to accept it.

i was used to the sassy, fiesty Rogue, with her thick southern accent and attitude to spare. I was basing my thoughts on TAS and more recent comics.

she wasn't always that way, so i finally grew to accept it. still, after 3 movies, i wouldve liked to have seen a lil sass.

i think the last stand could open up the door for a lot of things.

when magneto was recruiting his brotherhood, so to speak. there were lots of different mutants there, some with deformities and such. they could go off into hiding or whatever as a result and with things going on.

and after callisto got fried by storm, something couldve happened to one of her eyes and she'd have to get the eyepatch

^Its all good. That's what makes this kinda stuff fun. Here are a few of my bad ideas:

- Proteus story line. Cool story and it involves all the major X-Men.
- Something with the Sentinels!!!!! The visuals would be just amazing.
- What about the Mutant Massacre? I mean that would be cool. Have Sinister start wiping out those mutants in hiding witht he Mauraders and have the X-Men kick their tails.
- Maybe they could even do an Apocalypse story line. The story with Apocalypse in X-Men Evolution's was done really well.

i wanted to bring in the morlocks, and have them driven underground so to speak, because sentinels come in the picture. The first couple of pages of Ultimate X-Men 1 would be a good introduction to the sentinels.

with the moorlocks coming in, my goal was to bring about the mutant massacre and combine parts of when angel was kidnapped by the moorlocks.

after what the brotherhood and phoenix did, people are going to take precautions to make sure it won't happen again. sentinels could pop up, or FOH or something, and the result could be some going into hiding.

i havent seen the movie in a long time, but if i remember correctly, wolverine stabbed her at an upward angle, so i'm gonna assume that he punctured a lung and maybe some other organs.

i think i would've preferred an ending where everyone was around her and reaching out to her, and Jean took over and obliterated herself to keep from harming her friends. that couldve been very powerful had cyke been there, trying to stop her.

That would have been the perfect ending. But alas.....

I think another way to end it would to have been to have Professor X somehow getting involved. Maybe he could have "talked" to her and she sacraficed herself for the good of the team/earth/life. I think havin Scott sacrafice himself WITH Jean would have been wonderful also.
