View Full Version : Batman and Superman should NEVER team up.

Considering the news today, I think Batman should stay the HELL away from the new Superman franchise.
Everybody was getting all worked up and pissy about people hating Superman Returns, and honestly, I hated it too.
Now that we've heard today's news, one thing is certain. The Dark Knight is going to be a real MOVIE. A REAL MOVIE. This movie will be in the same league as The Godfather, The Wizard of Oz, Gone with The Wind......it's going to be like THAT.
It's NOT going to be a "superhero" movie. It's going to be a legendary film.
After today, if Batman was to team up with Superman in a World's Finest movie, it would only bring Batman down a level. Superman Returns and Superman himself is nowhere in the same LEAGUE as this new Batman movie.
I hope "World's Finest" NEVER happens now.
And, Mr. Bryan Singer should get a dose of reality on how to make an amazing film when THE DARK KNIGHT hits the screens in two years.

I also hope there is never a baman/superman movie. I never liked the idea that they were in the same universe. Just keep the movies seperate.
But sexually .. now thats a different story

I've read a script review of it, and personally didn't like what I read. I just hate the concept of forcing the characters to fight eachother, because one always ends up being seen as the villain. I wouldn't mind a single fight in a team-up movie, but the film shouldn't be centered around them fighting.
Besides, wasn't it a tale that takes place late into each of their careers? It's kind of like a Dark Knight Returns type thing, isn't it? It's far, far too early to even think about a movie like that.

I hope we will never see this movie.
BB was great movie, SR was also great movie, but BVS would be terrible project.
I just want WB to leave this unnecessary idea.

.....yeah, right. This reminds me of a year ago when people were saying BB might have a chance to beat out Star Wars at the Box office.
Sorry bud, but Batman is a COMIC BOOK CHARACTER. He always has been and always will be, thus this will be a comic book movie.
Even if TDK is at the same quality as The Godfather, Gone With the Wind ect... (which I would find verrrrry hard to believe, because these kinds of movies don't pop up every day) it wouldn't get the same recognition as any of those movies because of the fact that people will veiw it as a comic book movie.
And honestly, how can you even say, without even seeing a trailer, that you think this movie will be amazing? I mean, yes BB was good, probably the best superhero movie out there to date, but I'm sorry, it's not even close to being in the top 50 best movies of all time. It was distinctly a comic book movie. I mean, it had a guy dressing up in a batsuit and a microwave emitter that vaporized water, and yet somehow did not vaporize the water inside people. It still had sci fi aspects and a very comic book like third act.
Now, I would love it if TDK ends up as great as a great and classic movie, but i sincerly doubt it...because well, it IS going to be a comic book movie, and you may not like that, but sorry bud, it's true.

As a comicbook fan, why would anybody NOT want a Batman film to be a "Superhero" film  It's BATMAN!
As for the whole Supes/Bats thing - well, it all depends on the script.

I think Batman and Superman should fight and kill each other.
some of us batman fans, are really disturbing.Iwill ignore the idiot from the first post, as he represents the worst of mankind on these boards. Comparing any superhero movie to the godfather movies, and the others metioned is just the currently sad minds of Batman fans, that seeminly are caught up in our own hype. Batman begins was just good movie about a troubled rich guy in a batsuit with lots of money.Begins turned back into a comic book movie [thank goodness] in the last hour. Some of you guys need to get your lips off of Nolan ass, i dun think he wants you their all the time.

Batman VS Superman is a flawed concept. There will never be a difinitive winner in that contest. They'll fight, yes. But dispite their stylistic differences, they really have the same goal. Saving lives.
That's why any Batman/Superman crossover will inevitably result in a team-up.

As I see it.. Batman Vs. Superman f'ed up when Warner realised they better do separate movies. So I think it's just a cancelled movie like Superman Lives, etc. ;)

That doesn't stop him from being popular.
Spider-Man is the other in the top 3. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man. Since the closest Marvel character in popularity is Wolverine and Wolverine vs Spider-Man isn't really a good movie. Batman vs Superman or Worlds Finest is a much better bet.

A Batman/Superman film WILL happen. WB already planned on making one in 2002 anyway, so it will happen, it's just a matter of when.

Superman Returns cannot touch Batman Begins in terms of quality and substance I really hope they don't make a crossover movie simply because the Batman Begins universe is too dark for it's non-realistic metropolis city that was potrayed in superman returns.

Because Superman and Batman are so different, THAT'S why a film based on both of them is so appealing to me - they can really explore how different the two characters are, and how different their stances on justice are.
Just because you think Superman is too light or is too campy DOES NOT mean a film can't work.........

Having a classic backstory does not mean better. Yes it's classic and iconic, but more original or better? I don't think so, more interesting? Not to me. Batman interests me more because he's a figure born of tradgedy. He's also a bit crazy. The guy has problems, he's not "perfect" like superman. Spider-man is more relatable, he's a normal guy given powers, and instead of going straight out into the world and saving people like Superman, he does what we all would have done. He tried to make money. He learns a life lesson the hard way, and he's ends up with some big emotional insecurities of his own.
Superman is an ailen from outerspace, sent to earth, and he also happens to turn into a almost ridiculously perfect and righteous Superhero. To me, that's a little stale, and old fashioned, because really, so is his origin.

Finish the Batman trilogy by 20011, the Supes by 2012... then make the cross over in 2014... if still succesful... make a fourth Batman film as a finale to the series in a DKR flick in like 2017... and if WB is really bold... make another three piece trilogy starting in 2021 about an older Bruce Wayne

Only way WORLD'S FINEST (BVS would BLOW) would work, would be if it was more similar to F4, than BB. If it had alot of jokes in, and was almost campy, it'd have a chance of being sucessful. Think about it. The only successful team up films (Rush hour, Shanghai Noon, Bad Boys) all have comical aspects. If WF was going to work, it'd have to follow this trend.
I don't think the BB Batsuit would look right beside the SR suit either, and would change it to more of a comic look (Dead End..ish.) More similar to the Spidey suit.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see it happen.
The only reason I can see WB releasing WF is to make money, not to appease fans, so I don't think it really matters how untrue the characters are in my suggestions above. ^
