Considering Bettany is always mentioned, recently, in conjunction with the Joker, I just found the resemblance between these two pictures pretty convenient. I'll probably get lynched for saying this (seeing as how there seems to be something of a hatred for her by many patrons of Superhero Hype!), but I don't think Dunst would have made a bad Harley when she was younger.

However, I'd probably still say that if Harley is ever included in the sequels, which I doubt she will be, Brittany Murphy should play her.

Alright here is my thing there are characters that if to be casted it would not be wise to cast such a huge celebrity. In this case were talking about DOCTOR Harleen quinzel. Most people forget about the DOCTOR part! Same with twoface Ive seen some outrageous castin for TWOFACE. Anyonw can play a Decent villain But we have to ask ourselves can the actor play a descent counter Part HIGH Powered attorney Harvey Dent.

This is what happend in batman forever and batman and robin People got well known celebs to play parts Tommy Lee jones Schwarsnnggger etc.

Haryley Quinn Some of you guys say Britany Murphy. Which I agree she does seem kind of wild and can fit the part. But do you see her as the counterpart Highly educated psycologist running Arkham?????

Its actually rathered sad how the joker seduces her based off of how bad her life was growing up. Most people see the smiles and think okay just crazy joker side kick. I hope they go more into it in the third movie if they decide to put her in there.

I posted the same thread a few hours ago (not knowing it already existed), but I will respond to it anyway.

It should depend on who is playing The Joker. If they go with someone relatively unknown like Lacy Hulme, they should cast someone of mis magnitude. But, let's say they decide they cast someone really famous like Christopher Walken - or, better yet, hypothetically, let's say they go with Jack Nicholson again (dammit, I hope so). In that case (which I doubt will happen), they will have to go with an actress who could hold their own against Nicholson, preferably someone who's worked with him more than once before. Unfortunately, the only two actresses who I can think of who've worked with him more than once are Michelle Pfeiffer and Ann-Margret. Well, Pfeiffer was already in Batman Returns and Ann-Margret is 64 years old (though she looks about 45). So they're out of the question. The same goes for if they cast someone like Walken, Johnny Depp or even Sean Penn (who Bale supposedly said was Nolan's current choice, although he was drunk at the time).

In the end however, I don't think Harley will ever make it to the big screen. Shame, too. I always wanted to see her on the big screen.

Christina Ricci- I agree curves may be important, but we also need her to be agile and acrobatic, and I have yet to see Christina in a role that shows just how hyper she can really be, so I would be worried to rely on her. Ok, sorry I know this is a old post but its kind of the only reason I joined, was for this conversation, I’m working in a Casting agency right now, and my office is not casting the sequel however casting offices don’t mind calls from other casting agencies lending there suggestion, and I have done this with the Batman crew. Now provided they cast the Joker right, such as Crispin Glover (Willard, Charlies Angels)
or French Actor Vincent (brotherhood of the Wolf, Birthdaygirl) Cassel (who are actually are the top 2 in the running for the role and I think both would rock!) ( am more parcel to Crispin glover , Just only for the sake that Vincent Cassel has a good look and everything however ..well he’s French, and I have yet to see him in anything where he can really lose that accent, but if he can then awsome, he would really be cool) So my vote is for Crispin Glover!

Now that being said, I think that there really is only one good actress that can fill the shoes of both the strong stable psychiatrist Harleen quinzel
AND our psycho not so stable beloved Harley Quinn . And she is one of my favorite actresses of our time.

After reading this, I took my helpful direction over to the Bat crew (via telephone) and they love that casting idea, and said they will take it seriously in to consideration, once they know for sure if she is going to be in it. My theory is that they will have Harleen Quinzel in the next one (if at all) she will be taking over the new counseling postion that was left open thanks to Dr. Crane and then, see her start to be turned mentally by the Joker after countless psychiatric meetings, after he is captured, and then we will get to see , after talking with him for some time, just how brilliantly manipulative the Joker really is! At lest thats what I would love to see anyway.

Sheri Moon still looks in her mid to late 20's, which would be great age for Harley. Murphy and McAdams could work as well, but I'd like to see them be able to be mature enough to play the part of Dr. Quinzell just as well as Harley.

To me, it'd more about the presence and maturity an actor brings to a role as well. Harley is supposed to be a high ranking doctor, not a Candy striper.

That is an interesting choice! I would have never thought about McAdams. But before I came into this thread my automatic response was going to be Christina Ricci. I've been mentioning her from the jump.

Sheri Moon, ok she still looks older, and she has been in like 3 movies, and I’m sorry to say, it doesn’t take that much skill to be in a horror movie on top of that, and the only real reason she’s there was because of her man (who rocks by the way)ZOMBIE.

if you haven’t watch Red EYE (it is a bad movie but she rocked in it) you will see the character that she plays is perfect for Dr. quinzell. ( and I trust her acting, I know its a chick flick but the Notebook was awesome because of the 2 actors that where in it 1 of them being her. And she just down right looks like Harley!!

I don't think that's necessarily true..Harley just needs to be able to whip out a gun or throw a punch from time to time, she's not Catwoman, I don't think we should expect her to be too athletic.

Yeah. If she play the part to a T, then I'll be ok with that. Ricci is a great actress without a doubt. But I think it work better to make Harley a stupid blond bombshell beside someone who can act the part. Or at least be cute. Ricci just don't have the bombshell look. But of course, makeup could change that. ;)

Someone who can go from a nerdy, intelligent pyschologist to a complete wacko. Plus, her recent roles have proven to me that she is a competent enough actress who could hold her own against the excellent cast of actors who were in Begins.

Christina Ricci is an actress who specializes in dark pyschotic roles like Harley Quinn. She can pull off the role actingwise. She's a very good actress. However, I just think she looks wrong. Reese is one of my favorite actresses workingin Hollywood today. I loved her in Legally Blonde, and with her performance in Walk The Line generating Oscar buzz, I think she's proven herself to be a great actress and could do it as Harley. You take her Elle Woods character and turn her into a complete pyscho, and that's Harley Quinn.

I never thought of Reese before,and Im glad you consdered her.I approve she was fantastic in Walk The Line.Great choice.

Her role as a smart (and very airheaded too) in the Legally Blond movies is a fine example. Make that role even crazy & you get your perfect Harley. :up:

Yeah. If she play the part to a T, then I'll be ok with that. Ricci is a great actress without a doubt. But I think it work better to make Harley a stupid blond bombshell beside someone who can act the part. Or at least be cute. Ricci just don't have the bombshell look. I was thinking about Reese quite a while ago, I even mentioned it on IMDb, because I saw Harley ideally played by her or Brittany. Reese can definately do the two sides of Harley Quinn. Nowadays I tend to want Brittany though, mainly because she reminds me of Harley and vice versa.

.....While I am willing to entertain the idea of this and that actress cast as my beloved Harley [Fairuza being a most interesting and thought-provoking suggestion....], I am still forced to pass judgement in this one regard: all those saying Kirsten Dunst should be cast as Harl should be dragged outside by the hair, tied to the whipping-post at the center of the town square, stripped to the waist and then given 30 lashes with Catwoman's bullwhip.... :)

Considering Bettany is always mentioned, recently, in conjunction with the Joker, I just found the resemblance between these two pictures pretty convenient. I'll probably get lynched for saying this (seeing as how there seems to be something of a hatred for her by many patrons of Superhero Hype!), but I don't think Dunst would have made a bad Harley when she was younger.

However, I'd probably still say that if Harley is ever included in the sequels, which I doubt she will be, Brittany Murphy should play her.

Uhm, I think someone's missing something somewheres. Harley is supposed to be young and beautiful, not just young. Dunst is therefore immediately eliminated from the running.

[and she would have made a good Harley when she was "younger"? How young do you think Harley is? She made it most of the way through med school! She's hardly 15. Try mid-twenties at the earliest! You have to go through at least 2 years of prerequisites to even get INTO med school, much less be almost graduated. And now that I think about it, I think it's 4 years of prereq's - you enter med school as a graduate student. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.]

Plus I don't see Dunst playing "crazy" all that well. Luckily I think the chances of this happening are virtually nil.
