While viewing Sebastian's pic of Superman running in Superman II, I thought it might be interesting to see what other fans thought.
The scene of Clark tearing open his shirt and running in the alley to become Superman (awesome special effects IMHO) is my favorite. I still get a chill when I watch it.
Anyone else have a favorite??

Yeah, that's the best Clark-to-Superman scene ever.
My favourite scene is where Clark's had his ass handed to him by the red neck in the diner, and the President is screaming for Superman's help on TV. So dramatic. Superman is literally the planet's only hope, and now he's so weak he gets decked by a normal man. The stakes are so high in Superman II, I love it.

Hmmmm, favourite scene, favourite scene......
OK, the whole film is totally brilliant, but I love the final scene in the Fortress of Solitude when Superman emerges from the chamber that 'supposedly' changes kryptonians into normal human beings, and crushes Zods hand.
Absolutely amazing. :supes:

I agree the scene in the fortress was fantastic. And I was so surprised. I remember when I first saw it, my heart was breaking for Superman. I didnt even catch that the lights were on outside and not inside. DUH.
But then there were so many really great scenes in Superman two.

Well firstly there are the great shots from space, then it cuts to Krypton to show the three villains, then there are the brilliant credits which show what happened in Superman: The Movie. Then there's the first scene where Clark turns into Superman, and saves Lois...

I also love the bit where he saves that stupid kid from falling into the Niagara Falls, and the scenes where the three villains tear up Metropolis.

I always HATED that scene. Clark just stood there and took it! I had always felt that this scene would have been better had Clark managed to get a few decent punches in, or had there been 2 or 3 guys sneaking up on him and beating him up. I felt this scene made him look completely wimpy and defenseless. :supes:

My favorite scene quickly became one of the cut scenes where Supes punches Non and sends him flying back into a building.
"General.... would you care to step outside"
Superman, thank God. i mean... get him!
yes, that whole sequence when Superman returns. the rumbling noise equvalent to a 777 fills the air, the newspapers fly off the stack by a gust of wind, and Superman stops infront of Perry White's window and the way he says those words "General, would you care to step outside?" just signifies the awesomeness in the ass-kicking which is about to take place. :) 3 on 1 super battle.
great moment.
but i also like many other scenes in Superman 2.
yeah, i like when Clark Kent gets his ass beat in the diner by that redneck dude. and Zod's on the screen talking about "Kneel before Zod! ZOOOOOD!"*click*
"i have to go back" "i've gotta try damn it. i've gotta try.. something. anything." "I heard them. i just didn't listen."
and when he finally came back to the Fortress of Solitude and was talking to himself "Father... i failed. FAAATHER!!" and then he sees the green crystal light up. awesome.

The diner scene is a good one. I see why Clark was completely caught unaware. He isnt used to having -- feeling pain. I think that completely shocked him. He also wasnt used to fighting in the traditonal sense. (Not until he took on the 3 kryptonians--usually people strike him, or shoot..nothing hands on until later in Superman II )
So this was the first real combat for this particular superman story..and he wasnt used to throwing punches..so he looked wimpy when he was simply unprepared.

I like the scene where Superman throws General Zod into the giant neon Coke sign, followed by Superman crushing Zod's hand, Clark Kent running and almost magically turning into Superman and Clark Kent getting revenge on the jackass from the diner.

The thing is, not only is he not used to feeling pain, not only is he not used to being weak in the human sense, but he also expects everyone to play by the rules like he does, and doesn't expect to be punched in the back.
...As only a coward would do.

Thats a very good point--He is honorable and doesnt expect someone to play so dirty.

Clark open his T shirt on the halley!! the only problem, is that one of the most bad flying scenes is nexts of then sceene!!!! is very bad done and very bad superposition of images!!! very tipical of Lester!!!! thats one of the big reasons of way superman II is not so good as the first one!!!!
Some one should get the blue screen footage of that fly and re made it!!!!

My favorite scenes would have be:
1. Lex is talking in a flippant manner towards Zod who proclaims: "Why do you say this to me...when you know I will kill you for it?" That line is so perfect I used it as my sig for like two years. I like testing that line out on my co-workers from time to time.
2. Superman and Non rumble beneath the streets and the force of the blows if making the Earth shake. Then, all of a sudden, Non comes shooting through the pavement and ends about thirty stories high before tearing through a building. Then Superman gets up and shakes off his hand from decking him square in the yap. They don't show you the punch...and they damn sure don't need to.
3. Zod and Superman squabble inside the Marlboro truck until Superman tosses his sorry a** into the Coke sign like a two-bit ragdoll as Rhea Perlman cheers him on (looks like her anyway).

Jimbo did you see that the credits are going to be changed in the Donner cut? More like those in the first movie?? I always liked that thunderous sound when the letters come out as the credits roll. I actually taped the opening onto a music cd and when I play it in the car, the speakers rumble as the "S" is coming. LOL

I agree, Jimbo. There are so many terrific things in Superman II.
Do you think the Donner cut will be as well liked or not as well liked.
I always like alternate versions of things--deleted scenes and such. But I suspect, the movie wont flow as well as the orgiinal. Time will tell.

I see from other boards some fans didnt like the shirt rip. Thought it was cheesy. Im still impressed when I see that kind of scene. Just because it wasnt done inside a computer doesnt mean it wasnt impressive.
I also like when he leaps out the window in 1 and the revolving door change in 1.
There is some so dramatic when Clark rips open his shirt and he's suddenly SUPERMAN :supes:

I've always wondered why the credits in Superman II were different to Superman: The Movie, with white writing instead of blue, and a different style of text. It was more like the lettering during the end credits of Superman: The Movie.
