The "no up port" rule, from what I can tell, doesn't even exist. And yes, this is a pretty good indication of the cost of ps3 development. A more expensive, less technically impressive console that will probably a smaller user base for a period of time worth consideration by publishers isn't going to be very attractive. There will be no 'PS4'. :o

"Up-port" is a pretty new term coined by message board whores as a responce to "down-port" which means "A port with added improvements" like all of Sega's Sports games from PS2 to Xbox, such games just took the PS2 code and put in a superior lighting engine, or just make the graphics better.

Down ports are more common, like every Ubisoft game that's on the PS2, or a lot of recent PC-to-Xbox 1 games.

So basically Zenien is just making up Sony policies based around an internet neologism as she goes along trying to make us sell our 360s and games for the PS3 potential.

A lot of unofficial rumblings, and Peter Moore saying it was coming to the 360 about almost 2 years back (I think). Granted he also made it sound like the 360 was geting edxclusive GTA content, and that turned out to be a lie, who's to say how the AC situation changed from when Peter said that.

Chances are good that it's a timed exclusive (3 months? 6 months? 1 year?) for the PS3, or an exclusive, but based on Ubisoft history it's most likely a timed exclusive. I can't see them not porting it to every platform under the sun, unless Sony has negotiated an exclusivity deal.

Recent controversy regarding whether or not Assassins Creed will go multi-platform has once again been debunked by Ubisoft.

French site xbox-gamer.net reported that during the Interactive Digital Entertainment Festivale (IDEF) 2006, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin's Creed was currently under development for Xbox 360 and PC. However, in response to the reports from the French website, a UK Community Manager going by the name of UbiRazz has been locking the speculative threads saying, "Ubisoft have confirmed no such thing. Assassin's Creed will come on PlayStation 3 and at this time, no other platform has been confirmed."

With this latest piece of multi-platform evidence debunked, Assassin's Creed is still labeled as a PS3 exclusive by many. It is only fair to say that Ubisoft has never made an official statement regarding whether or not the game will be exclusive, just that it's in development for the PlayStation 3. Ubisoft has not changed their stance on this heavily debated subject. Since Ubisoft does have close ties with Microsoft, it's quite possible Xbox 360 owners could see a version of Assassin's Creed later down the road. For the time being, however, PS3 fans can still hope that Assassin's Creed will be an exclusive.

I can't help but notice the fact that every time Ubisoft "debunks" rumors of AC coming out on XBOX360, that they never ever actually say "Assassin's Creed will be a PS3-only game." or "We are not making a XBOX360 version of the game." It's always like the quote above which really says nothing more than "The only system we've announced AC for so far is PS3." It's like the "PS3 games won't cost you $100 each, but don't be mad if they're above the normal price of $50-60 for any other game on any other console."

Episodic content for the PS3 release has not been ruled out. Except they added speculation to their own article that had no place in a news report and was bat**** insane, along with being the very last ones to take their juiced up article down when all the other sites had. If you read the article (which is in a link in the link I posted, if you can't find it), all they really did was explain what the information provided meant to anyone who may be too dumb to understand it all. They reported the information they were given, cited sources, and recanted once it was proven false. That's as much "credibility" as you could ask for Zenien, and is far more than what you get from larger sites/mags like EGM, Game Informer, or Gamespot, which have done much worse and much less about it afterwards.

Yes, again, they are as reliable as Toms Hardware, Beyond3D, AnAndTech, or any other techie site. They screwed up this one time (which, going back to read the original article, was all based on something in OPM anyways), which every site of every type does at least once. That doesn't make them unreliable, no matter how much you think it helps your argument. As for incompitence and bias...no. I'm sure it makes sense too you if you're busy making things up and deciding who's reliable and who isn't completly seperate from track records or facts, but if you step back and look at the reality of the situation for a second, it's pretty obvious that TXB is neither incomptent nor biased. If anything, they behaved like a professional news organization would about the whole thing, simply citing a source and explaining it's meaning if assumed to be true, and telling the readers when it was proven UN-true. That's a lot more than you can say for most gaming "news" organizations, electronic or printed.

According to the latest FAMITSU magazine, 2 more PS3 titles have been dropped. Dark RPG and Black Blade, both are from FROM SOFTWARE.


I never heard of them but they have been cancelled anyway.

Developers need more than one development kit, the only team members who WOULDN'T need one would be the artists and I guess the higher up designers who just roam around and tell everyone else what to do.

I KNOW THAT........BUT 100? UNLESS YOU'RE 'EA' OR 'UBI', MOST DEVELOPERS DON'T EVEN HAVE THAT MANY EMPLOYEES. :confused:

Ubi, EA, Sega, and maybe a few others would probably need 200 or more kits, while most other studio's would be looking at 10-15 kits. Their numbers are probably right, even if those dev kits will probably be used to make bad, inferior versions of better 360 games. :o

EA for instance, according to wiki, has 7,200 employees, which, pulling a number out of my ass, I would guess at least 4000 would need dev kits to do their jobs and make ps3 games before porting them on anything that can run them because hey, it's EA, and we can assume Sega and Ubi have smaller but similiar numbers, so I mean, it's not really that big a stretch. All of Sony's internal studios and 2nd party partners, Rockstar has them, the big three, 10,000 kits really isn't that much, Microsoft has likely shipped even more than that by this point.
