Yeah, I think they were. Weren't they re-done for Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES though?

Super Mario World is what defines a Mario game for me. But my favorite would have to be Super Mario RPG.

I played Super Mario Brothers 2 on the GB Advance and finished it. But the Yoshi Challenge that follows it is a real challenge.

In Super Mario World's Forest of Illusion stage, how do you navigate that God-awful puzzle of stages to reach the boss castle at the end. I can't seem to clear that stage.

You didn't add New Super Mario Bros, and that is a great game. Right under SMW and SMB3.

I can't wait till the inevitable NSMB2 comes out, especially since this one sold so gosh darn well.:) :up:

If I had to choose one game it would be SMB3, but SMW is a close second. It had a good range of variable items, including my all time favorite, the tanuki(or tanooki if you prefer) suit. The level design was nice and of all the side-scroller Mario games I liked the Bowser fight in 3 the best.

Yup, I think it's out in a month or two. Plus you get baby Mario, baby Peach, or baby Donkey Kong, and the Yoshi gets different abilities based on which baby it's carrying.

It looks sweet, and I love that they are ressurecting the 2-D Mario franchise on the DS.:up: :D

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they said he was the bad guy again. Don't hold me to that though.

Thinking about it though, isn't Bowser the villain in most of them, so he probably is.:)

Super Mario World for me, I remember playing that when I was younger and having a tough time beating somethings. Also the star world stuff was fun, not to mention best Bowser fight. I loved the end too, just nothing but good memories from me.

Its ok. I cant seem to enjoy it as much as other mario games.

For me its a 3 way tie for best mario game.

sunshine is too a real mario game.......come on people give miyamoto a break mario 64 had the bar set to:

the best sunshine could do is:

-> awesomeness

and i think for what its worth they did a damn good job, imo sunshine still has the best water physics to date........my only complaint is the music only the delfino isle, harbor, and super mario theme (acapela) were the only memorable songs in the entire game the rest i would have to hear it again to remember it was in the game......while 64 i pretty much could recite the whole game soundtrack to you.....metal cap, flying cap, bowser, and dire dire dock themes ftw.......

My Fav is SMB3. That was the Best when it come out, that is the game that defined the series. SMB ofcourse was good, SMB2 wasn't a true Mario game, SMW was awesome but it really borrowed so much from SMB3. The Bowser battle in that game was the best and the build up to it was awesome.

I love the original, but I'm torn between that and SMB3. Now that i think of it, Did anyone play the New Super mArio Bros. on the DS? I bought it recently and it's fantastic.
NSMB is really good, but it felt a little empty when you compare it to SMB3 or SMW.

Have to go with Mario 64. First time in 3-D and unlike Mario Sunshine it felt like a Mario game in a Mario type land/world.

First game I bought for the VC on the Wii. Love the classics as well but there was something about Mario 64 that had me beating it over and over and over again.

Mario 64, seeing Mario in 3D for the first time was amazing and playing it was even better. Very close honorable mentions for SMB, SMB3 and SMW, all of them were great, just felt like they built and perfected what was done before, while Mario 64 was a bigger revolution in platform gaming and brought true 3D onto conosoles.

I will forever remember waking up every Saturday for like 11 weeks and making it a weekly ritual to watch Saturday Morning Cartoons from 7am to 9am and then playing and beating SMB3 until after 10am. I loved that game.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is HIGHLY underrated. That game was a magnificent addition to the mario world. I think I enjoyed it more than Super Mario World 1.

Mario 64 is second best...

I haven't played Super Mario Galaxy yet.

Super Mario Sunshine, Mario 1, Mario 2... all runners up.

I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW YOUR REASONING. If you voted for SMB2, please include an explanation. I'm not criticizing your decision, I am just curious as to your reasons why.... mostly because SMB2 is totally different from any other mario game... and it's NOT actually a mario game. It's based on some weird titled Japanese platform game that USA took and replaced the characters with mario characters.

So it's interesting if your favorite is Mario 2. Why? why? why?

The wii is so awesome. I can't believe that I get to play all these great games again with the VC. That was the first thing I did last night when I got the Wii. I went and got 5000 Wii points and DL'd all the mario games.

And my favorite is still SMB3. I've played through that game countless times over the years. But I am having a lot of fun with Galaxy.
