Well its being reported that Nolans next film is going to be The Prisoner, based off that excellent tv show. I guess its going into production AFTER the dark knight, i guess that pretty much confirms that nolan wont go to the 3rd movie straight after. Wow is this guy a hard worker or what, after the 3rd bat movie he would have done five movies non stop! take that terrance mallick!

Bingo.

I'm really scared what this might mean though. It *could* mean that he is either:

1. Done after the 2nd movie and the franchise stops there for an extended period of time :(

2. Someone picks up the ball and trashes it like what happened with the previous films.

Prisoner is been remade into a miniseries starring Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=46425). Wonder if this will have an effect on Nolan's plans to turn the original series in a feature film?

I'm very curious though what his directing gig will be now that his status has risen to new heights with the amazing success of TDK. After spending such a long time working on Batman i'd imagine he'd want to take a breather and do something smaller.

He's been developing an adaptation of The Exec so there's one possibilty. And there's a Howard Hughes script he wrote and was supposed to direct too.

Hopefully the same writing team will be back but they're pretty swamped with their own projects.Goyer is busy finishing The Unborn and has Magneto and The Invisble Man on his plate so i think like on TDK he'd only be involved in story capacity for a potential second sequel. And Jonathan Nolan is writing Interstellar for Spielberg and is also writing Chicago Fire.

I can just imagine he'd want to do a Memento-ish movie (in size anyway) after having spend a year dealing with these huge action set-ups and whatnot. I'm very, very anxious to find out what he's doing next. He might be the best director working today.

Oh, well I wouldn't expect them to begin work until 2010 anyway, similar to when The Dark Knight began work.

I don't care *that* much how long it takes for us to get Batman 3 so long as...
a.) Nolan directs and
b.) It is worth the wait

Pretty much all the movies he's made in his relatively short career have been either good or great imo.

He's probably eyeing a project we haven't heard of. The Prestige kind of came out of nowhere.

Yeah 2011 looks like the earliest we'll see another Batman movie.

That's so very true. He has a spotless resume. Memento, The Prestige and the Dark Knight especially fall into the category ''genius''.

Hehe, The Prestige popped up pretty fast, come to think of it. But ofcourse We, the Dutch (;)) had to wait considerably longer for it.

And indeed, It should take another solid 3 years for the next Batman. You can't blame the man for not thinking that far ahead.

^^Well the saying is good things come to those who wait. So here's hoping the same applies here.:yay:

Nolan will be taking a (well deserved) break according to David Goyer.

Beaks: So where does Batman go from there?
Goyer: It's really up to Chris. He's taking a month-long vacation. On DARK KNIGHT, it was about coming up with a story that was better than BATMAN BEGINS. I think it's going to be sort of geometrically, proportionately harder a third time. We'll see. We talked a long time on THE DARK KNIGHT before he said, "I think we've got something." I don't know. We'll see.
