Welcome back.

After 98 hours of work, we finally got the forums reindexed. All 8.1 million posts.

For the most part, I wanted to say you acted properly over there. Those that did, I wanted to say thanks for your behavior.

Some others, I am frankly put, seriously disappointed in your behavior. The constant berating of the CS boards. I am an admin over there to, and I consider it a home too. Granted I spend 90% of my time here, I consider that my home as well. I trully am disappointed in the constant barage of insults on the people and their forums. This has nothing to do with the one bad person that posted some inappropriate pictures.

Jaguarr really posted a message about this on CS and it was totally accurate.

I am not going to go into detail because I cold probably find about 100 posts on CS right now that I did not find to my taste.

Thanks again Mal and yes I agree the berating of CS was disgusting, I found Frizzo and Co excellent. I didn't see Jags post but he is usually accuarate in my opinion.

As I said in a thread before, a lack of tolerance and/or maturity for the differences between both boards is what caused this clash. That people resorted to behavior that leaves a bad impression from us to them was a particularly embarrasing point. I hope Malice didn't have to mend any broken bridges in the aftermath.

DL much as I have a lot of time for you opinoins and respect the way you often play devils advocate, I found Friz and co. pretty excellent, not better than you guys of course. I think some hype members behaved foolishly I did not see this from the CS members, that's not to say you are wrong because you probably saw things I didn't. It's just I didn't experience it first hand or observe it.

I never saw that pic, I don't suppose i'm missing much as like you i'm over 18 and can search for whatever I want within the boundaries of legality and my own taste on here. I'll be honest trollin got old on the net a while ago for me. like everyone i've tried it, and occasionly do it in a mild form, but it gets boring after a while, i can't see how people can make trollin there lifes work myself, it's a bit sad. It's also sad some people give these individuals the reactions that they crave.

am i the only one that did'nt see any of this berrating of the CS board? jag took everything too seriously. we stuck all our comments in one thread and kept it there. It's not like we went in every thread berrating people or saying CS sucks or what not. the hypsters just were'nt comfortable with the pace of CS. and yes we complained about it...but it was all in one thread. all in all, I think we did a great job behaving ourselves. oh wow we spammed in one giant thread that was all dedicated to us. bo hoo, it's not like we forced them to read it, it was for the hypsters. and in all honesty that place was very dead. went to the video game and comic forums barely a convo in there. for us hypsters it was uncomfortable and we really did'nt feel all that welcomed either.

The Search function was pretty much shot. The reindexing was necessary to fix it.

Most indexes usually use "tags" it's a way of keeping track of past posts, so the search engine can find them. These tags probably needed replacing.

Sometimes when you come up against that first thing, it's sometimes hard not to live 'down' to that expectation.

I know a number of people remarked on the difference in pace between the two sites... without value-judgement... just noting the difference... and that was taken as negative by a few CSers. I'd say, however, that it's natural when you're in a new environment to make comparrisons.

Those who started making the evaluations that the Hype! was somehow 'better' though, were out of line. It's just different, and what's right for some, isn't right for everyone. That's something I've seen a number of Hypesters have difficulty understanding.

I do have to give credit to the CS mods though. They were very tolerant and understanding... which hasn't always been the case past situtations like this. Big thumbs up to the CS moderating crew. :up: :up: :up:

It's one thing to say that you prefer the Hype!, but another to say "The Hype! is better". One is just stating your preference and recognizing that it's just that: "your preference". Implicit in it is the recognition that others might prefer something else.

The other is making a statement of fact (especially when you add comments to it like "Anyone that doesn't see that is an idiot.") when there's nothing 'factual' about it. Saying the pace of CS is slower than the pace of the Hype! is a fact, but one isn't necessarily better than the other... it's simply a matter of perference. Unfortunatly, a few people fail to understand this distinction (or they understand it, but they are so arrogant as to think that their preferences are inherently superior to those of others - unless of course those others agree with them - the the others are 'cool' :whatever: ).

I too prefer the Hype!, but it's because 1) my interest is mostly in comic films and 2) it's what I'm comfortable/familiar with. If I'd started at CS, and joined in that community, I'd likely prefer it there.

Those who started making the evaluations that the Hype! was somehow 'better' though, were out of line. It's just different, and what's right for some, isn't right for everyone. That's something I've seen a number of Hypesters have difficulty understanding.

I do have to give credit to the CS mods though. They were very tolerant and understanding... which hasn't always been the case past situtations like this. Big thumbs up to the CS moderating crew. :up: :up: :up:
