http://powet.tv/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/07/Dark_knight_returns.thumbnail.jpg (http://powet.tv/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/07/Dark_knight_returns.jpg)Direct from our unsubstantiated rumor department, EGM’s notorious “Quarterman” column directly implies that EA will not sit on the Batman video game rights and wait for a new movie to come out.
The word is they’re working to adapt Frank Miller’s classic “Dark Knight Returns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:%20The%20Dark%20Knight%20Returns)” story, where a 55 year old Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement to become Batman again, foiling plots by aging foes like Two Face and Joker, adopting a new Robin, and even confronting Superman.
Theres some precedent for this, as EA released “From Russia With Love” as a filler title before “Casino Royale” set to ressurect the James Bond franchise in movies. Similarly, Activision developed an “Ultimate Spider-Man” game last year to fill the gap between a Spider-Man 2 and 3 movie game adaption could be produced.
Here’s hoping EGM is on the money with this rumour and that the game can take the “Dark Knight” story to a new level.

If it were free roam that would rock, but I doubt that they'll do it that way. Aren't free roam games more expensive to develop?

They should worry about making the animated version

EA sucks. The Batman Begins game was fun, but too easy, even on hard mode. Same with From Russia With Love...far too easy. I'd like a game with better graphics and abit longer and challenging.
Leave the controls they used for BB and FRWL though. I liked them.

Batman Begins game was telling us what to do and the ruin's it all for me. You can't really make a free roam game base off a comic so ya I dont think it will be free.

Incredible Hulk:Ultimate Destruction was free roam too, wasn't it?, and it got quite a few good reviews. I see no reason why a Batman game couldn't have some kind of free-roam aspect.

This months Game Informer magazine had a blurb in their rumor section that the next Batman video game will *not* be based on a movie. It didn't say anything about TDKR, though.

thats why im fairly sure that the DKR storyline may just be incorperated into a larger batman game, as a future scenario or of that type. i really hope it is.
