This place is turning to crap. Please up the ante on the intelligence in the posts please. Flaming each other will get you nowhere.

Everyone stating that original block G1 will not work on the screen due to the blockiness and primary colors need to realize that most people here who are mad are all for modernization of the Transformers. Modernization is essential otherwise the movie would look hokey and dated...nobody said that it would be a bad idea. But total change to the designs hints toward change in origin story, character identity and everything else. If they are not faithful (or barely faithful) to the designs...what else will they change? That is what I fear.

Add a few hundred thousand to a cool million dollars to that design and tell me it wouldn't work on the big screen.

You've made some excellent points. I wish there more fans like you with good sense rather than easy-to-please conformists. The blockiness of the Transformers is part of what made their designs look very cool, yet tough. These "contemporary upgrades" are quite unrecognizable.

I am not looking forward to this live-action version of the Transformers. The 2007 yet-to-be-released motion picture has so many things altered from the original G1 concept that it is indeed Transformers In Name Only (TINO).

The designs for the 2007 motion picture are simply horrific and deplorable. There's no reason for this flick to be called Transformers. With all this so-called realism, why even call the leader of the Autobots Optimus Prime or call the leader of the Decepticons Megatron? As I have said before, sentient alien beings made of metal who transform into cars, planes, weapons, devices and so forth is not realistic anyway. The exclusion of size-changing is a microcosm of the ill-advised alterations to the classic Transformers animated series and comic books. No true fan would be pleased with all these unnecessary changes to the Transformers mythos.

These extremely detailed, "alien-esque" robot form designs aren't very good. It's like they are trying to appeal to teenagers who think it is 'badass' and 'hella cool'.

Not only that, but looking at the vehicle forms and then the robot ones, I find myself wondering where the damn vehicle has gone? You can see very litte, if anything of the actual vehicle shell. Look at Optimus and Bumblebee!

Look at most of the TV incarnations of Transformers, Prime almost looks the exact same all the time. Megatron goes trough so many changes. I'm not one bit suprised they didn't stick to G1 Megatron. Why? No one has since G1.

that what ive been wondering myself the bumble bee pic kinda makes me wonder theres no reckonizable part of the shell(not counting lights) but if you look at the black stripe it doesnt match with any paticular area but im thinking folding parts and condensing while expanding lol i cant wiat till see one of them transform

I told a group of 15 year old fans that Optimus Prime has flames and is a long nose truck, they were furious. To be a fan of Transformers isn't being just a die hard fan, it's people of all ages of men and women. My dad likes it. anyone with an imagination likes it. Even my mom likes it, and I showed her the picture of Megatron, and the first thing out of her mouth was, the director is throwing his career away. Even our mothers and sisters know what Megatron is supposed to look like. It's not a fanboy thing, almost everyone knows what Transformers is and they are aware of what they are supposed to look like.

true that but someone posted a comment that made alot of since if you look at the optimus pic the flames break up the solid color schemes it looks really cool in robot mode but not that cool in vehicle form

Even though many people are not happy with some of the looks of some Transformers, they are going to look badass when battling. I hope we get to see Starscream leap into the air, Transforming as he is in mid air. Or swooping down towards an autobot and before inpact changing into robot mode tackling the autobot trough a building.

He is Very much like G1. As noted to Nelson earlier in the week, the details, deco, weapons, and sculpt itself will change as we move from grey model to final form.

So a little glimpse of hope still remains.

And that's probably why I dislike the Decepticon designs. Decepticons don't give such a impression, they look as normal as any other Transformer. From appearance alone you probably wouldn't even guess that they are evil until they blow your house into oblivion with one of their Laser cannons.

Decepticons are manipulative, power hungry, deceptive, warmongers, they think of other life forms beneath them. But they are not freaking metal cockroach monsters! :mad:

Well, he'll have to talk somewhere down the line though. I'm honestly puzzled by this decision unless the suits want to save money on hiring guys to voice the characters. I can't see how he could go through the entire movie not saying a word. I can't recall there ever being a mute Transformer in any of the cartoons from thw 80's on up. maybe Bumblebee's voice emitter just needs to be repaired by Ratchet or something. Of course I think most of this info comes from a very first draft script because they've hired a guy to basically act out the CGI Transformers and deliver lines for the actors to respond to.

I like the idea of Transformers not talking. For the first half hour that is. Because let's be honest, they come from outer space, why should they be able to speak english? I'd like to see them observing some humans first and maybe watch television and get a hang of the language pattern.

This is the best megs design I've seen. He looks alien but still a robot and has that ridiculous canon. Don't know what the alt mode is though. I'd even be happy if this is how he looked after he changes although I don't see how he could tf into any of our vehicles looking like that. I really don't have a problem with huge changes to how the characters look. I just want their faces "human" enough to convey emotions. I don't want to see big boxey robots fighting each other like something out of power rangers.

Btw, is it just me, or do all those heads on the side look like cat heads?

because VW is very protective of their image. Because of the warlike nature of the Transformers, VW won't do it anything like that post World War II. That's right..World War II and VW's connection with Hitler.

I just can't really accept the fact that just because they can't use a Beetle, their solution is to make BB a sportscar.

In theory, they could use a mini. However, because it's about a kid wanting a car, I can't see that happening unless he's forced into it.

I buy the whole camaro thing. It's a muscle car, not sport. Also, keep in mind, with movies you have to sign up the cars from the companies, and in most cases, they would only one car company for business reasons. Like an exclusive deal, to show off their newest cars in a movie.

Like 2 Fast 2 Furious had Mitsubushi, for example.

Even if they do revise these designs, it's pretty clear what look they have in mind (a humanoid cyber insect thingy). So if you don't like the current designs now, chances are things aren't gonna change much later.

I also think it's bull about the flat nose trucks not being 'tall enough' when stood up on end. I saw one the other day, and it was a friggin' monster in every way. I had to tilt my head up to see it's roof, and the bottom of the driver's door was at least 1.5 metres from the ground. And I really hope they don't remove Optimus' face shield when he speaks. Why do filmmakers always f**k with things that don't need to be messed with?

The "it won't work on screen" is just a poor excuse to cover the fact that they aren't suitable for the job. If they were good enough, they would 'make' these things work on screen.

They say they are working on his final look, so by 'final look' I hope they mean final form or earth adapted form. Not being whiny here, but there's no way in hell someone would pick this as Megatron.

They're making a NEW Transformers universe, therefore there will be a new look for everything, things are bound to look different, but that doesn't mean they have to look bad.

The website that was linked for the Jazz pic has info on the new trailer. Its at the very very end.


So when will we see a completed full trailer instead of just a teaser and what can we expect? If all goes well sometime this holiday season and producer Don Murphy hopes that we will get to hear Optimus Prime, see some robot on robot carnage, hear the traditional transforming noise and at least a nod to the original “More Than Meets The Eye” theme that we all have sung at one time or another.

Stay tuned in the upcoming months or as soon as Paramount releases the embargo so that we can reveal to you all the mechanical robotic madness that we will witness come 7-4-7!

Also, I have a theory. Since these are actual movie props aka Bumblebee and we are all wondering where the rest of the vehicle is at. And they are also talking alot about CGI. Would it not be out of the realm of possibilites that these so called final looks are of the movie prop aka skeletal structure and they will fill in the rest with CGI. Since they are doing something that we have never seen before. So, let me explain ... we see A half naked Megatron with a face that has teeth. When he final evolves to Earthen form ... I think they will overlay CGI. I think most of this crap other than Blackout is to get the articulation of the character. And infact they will layout the CGI on the robots later, except Pre-Earth Megatron.

I'm so in love with Armada Starscream. It was awesome when he took Megatron on and it turned out they were evenly matched. And then he sacrificed himself so Megatron would finally realise that Unicron is a real threat.

Just because that is the way it is doesn't make it right. Megatron and Starscream (2 of the most popular Transformers) being drastically changed ANY previous incarnation is disrepectful to the almost 22 years of history. It may work in the movie's context, that remains to be seen, but as of right now I don't like it.

To put it into some perspective; my wife's reply to me when I showed her the concept Megatron, "That doesn't look like Megatron...they're messing up". Now my wife wouldn't be able to give you a half decent description of what Megatron looks like because she doesn't give a d**n about Transformers, but she knows what he's NOT supposed to look like.

Generic is more how I'd describe it. That design could be the design for any monster/alien/horror movie out there. There is no Transformer, much less Megatron, quality in that design...there is such a thing as too different. For the casual fan the change matters not too much. For others who have kept the Transformers close for the last 20+ years, it is a punch in the face.
