The one I enjoyed reading about the most was Stern's Avengers. This was around I think after 227 to the issues which ended with Under Siege and Assault on Olympus. There was something about the roster which really clicked for me.

Most POWERFUL? For having sentry, a man that cannot be killed(seemingly), captain america and iron man? this one. not the best though.

Yes but that totally depends on sentry's mood. Also i would say wanda is more powerful than sentry, at least at her current levels

My favorite team was
Cap
Iron Man
Justice
Firestar
Hawkeye
Thor
Scarlet Witch
Vision
Wonderman
Right around the whole Twilight sword, heroes reborn thing. Especially the Ultron Unlimited arc.

Actually, his power might be able to not only mimick hers, but actually dwarf it at the same time. His power limits are very undefined, and have shown to not stop at mere energy expulsion, flight, super strength, and durability. The Void is the very example of this, as he can eat souls, and comes from the Sentry himself. Or the fact he can simply reverse total physical mental conditions without effort (at least, it wasn't shown that he gave any effort). The Sentry is more or less a person who is more like Wanda. Has total potential, but doesn't seem to either know it, or doesn't use it for whatever reason. Possibly because his mind isn't balanced enough. His mental powers seem to operate on the extreme level, and is insinuated as being one of the most powerful mental juggernauts on Earth. His power levels are actually believed to be limitless as well, and are fully dependent on his ability to wield them, which does require a mental adjustment. However, this does seem to subside when he requires it. Such as his agorophobia. He can overcome it, despite the fact it's irrational. This may be due to him letting himself go, and his idea of the Sentry actually taking over, and replacing most of Rob. Give and take sort of deal. So if the Sentry were on the team, he SHOULD be capable of removing Wanda. But probably wouldn't be, because Bendis doesn't know what to do with him.

My favorite was the one from the Harras/Epting era:
Captain America
Black Knight
Sersi
Hercules
Crystal
Quicksilver
Vision
They were around for the Proctor saga, Vision's recovery of his emotions and old personality, the Black Knight's return, etc. Good stuff all around, even without Thor.

I hate Quicksilver.
Although Black Knight and Herc do make and excellent combo.

Yeah, I loved the Heroes for Hire scene where Dane goes into a bar to talk to Herc and Herc drunkenly tosses his ass out. :)
Anyway, Quicksilver wasn't personally a big part of the team in the Harras/Epting stuff. His spectre was ever-present since one of the major subplots was about a love triangle between the Black Knight, Sersi, and Crystal, but he'd usually only show up to shoot his mouth off at Dane or beg for Crystal to work things out with him so they could be a family for Luna.

Late 80s, late 90s.
Could I have some trades of the best Avengers Stories pointed out for me? It would be appreciated.

Really the best?
Hmmmm
The one right before Bendis came along was excellent, especially with Jack of Hearts.
But for my money
Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Giant Man, Wasp.
and then.
Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Yellowjacket, Wasp and Black Knight.

that last part makes no sense. she wasnt at that power level when she was with the avengers.not knowingly. she had to have a nervous breakdown to get there and make up the whole chaos magic thing.

she didn't make up chaos magic, it existed long beofre disassembled. Bendis just decided to deny it's existence

I'm overjoyed you have such confidence in the Captain Britain, Scott Lang, She-Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man lineup.

If you're gonna take the piss at least try and be accurate

Yes, but it sounds better if you exclude them.
Like the Daily Bugle, accuracy only hurts the story
And does anyone like Yellowjacket? It is the WORST of Hank's identities. Why do they keep bringing it back?
My pick are New Avengers and West Coast Avengers right before US Agent arrived and Hawkeye quit. I admit, I'm including Mockingbird despite the fact she wasn't on the team.
Vision, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, and Pym just work for me.

To be honest the only version of pym I liked was ant-man and scott was better in that role anyway. I'm not a big pym fan in general, although without pym there'd be no ultron and without ultron there'd be no victor so I guess we can let him live...for now

I don't mind Hank Pym when he's Giant Man but I always felt he was at his most interesting when he's deranged. I don't like Wife beating Hank in Ultimates but the current version could use "pathetic hank" because that's oddly when he's most likeable. Ditto Jerk Hank from Ultimate Avengers.

I disagree. I liked Hank best in his "multi-purpose science guy" mode in Avengers West Coast. That's part of why I'm enjoying Beyond! right now. Hank's back to that persona rather than the manipulative jerk of New Thunderbolts or the pathetic whiner of Austen and Bendis' Avengers.

Ehhh Tony is the Science Guy, which is why I never felt Hank should be it.

I preferred Lang in his role anyways.
Those were some great issues where he tried to redeem himself by creating his own attack that only he could stop and then failling. God I love that story. The finding out Egghead was behind it the whole time: kind of a let down.

yes but if tony were to start smacking women around then they would just say he was back on the booze.
but when hank does it he does it because hes an ass and a little crazy.

No, Tony hits a girl with a bottle he's dating and everyone on the net cheers.
Hank does it, he's a scumbag.
I call that "Pym logic" ;-)
