If that gesture based stuff actually works, as in works well everytime I try to use it and isn't just up to chance like a few other things like this have been, and doesn't leave me flailing my arms all around the room so that it finally registers movement, then I'll probably buy this. Apparently some Toys R Us's somehow already are selling this thing.

It's a whole month early -- Microsoft's Xbox Live Vision camera is still due for actual release on 9/19 -- but during a recent Toys 'R' Us run lucky tipster Leo managed to walk away with his very own Live Vision camera, courtesy of an evident stocking snafu. The shiny package includes a headset, the camera, codes for 1 month of Live Gold and a registration key for fan-fave Uno. Of course, we don't suppose he'll be able to get much use out of it until Microsoft launches the device officially, but it makes for a good Flickr set, and some decent bragging rights.

People are commenting on this article, saying they've found them at their TRS's, too, and that the stores even have them in a display-type thing with signage and everything for it set up.

I'm really tempted to make the 20 minute drive to my Toys R Us in the area to see if they have them out, too. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing!

This is what I'm afraid of with this cam.....who needs to have a soldier running around with a wiener or a butt for a face....we don't need to see that, and you know people will be doing it. (Looks angrily at Mentok:mad: :p )

The Digimask will only capture your face. The program needs to see a number of refrence points (eyes, nose, mouth) to take the picture and create the 3D face structure. Without those refrence points it wont work... So no bum hole men running around in videogames then :D

Even Eyetoy has facial mapping and guesture tech is nothing new either, just a fancied up name for something Eyetoy was already doing. :confused:

Aside from that, this does have the potential to challenge the Wii, but it's more so an Eyetoy competitor then anything else, unless Microsoft puts some real backing behind it and convinces devs that the 360 camera owning market would be another market they could cheaply port their Wii games to and probably make a profit... which is actually possible.

I mean there area ton of Wii games, thought of as Wii exclusives, but third parties are making sloppy PS2 versions as well. SO why not actually replicate some of the controllability of the Wii controller at the same time.
