Just about every year or two, a couple of movies come out that are very similiar to each other whether they have the same premise or deal with the same concept. These are some of those types of movie pairs that I can think of right now, as well as which movie I preferred. Add your own and/or say which of the following movie pairs you liked.
1993, 1994 - Tombstone and Wyatt Earp : Tombstone
1998 - Armageddon and Deep Impact : Deep Impact
1998 - The Thin Red Line and Saving Private Ryan : Saving Private Ryan
1998 - Antz and A Bug's Life : Don't remember or care
2003, 2004 - Finding Nemo and Shark Tale : Finding Nemo
2004, 2005 - Ray and Walk the Line : Tie.
2006 - Flight 93 and World Trade Center : Haven't seen either yet.
2006 - The Illusionist and The Prestige : ?????
Bat Attack

Same as above
And here's another one. I forget the years, but they were released pretty close to each other. At most one year difference in their release dates, methinks.
Volcano and Dante's Peak

1989: Valmont / Dangerous Liaisons - both are pretty good!
1996: Independence Day / Mars Attacks! - both are cool, both have flaws.

1999: The Matrix / eXistenZ / The 13th Floor - in that order.
2000: Mission to Mars / Red Planet - HATED MtM, Red Planet was dumb but okay...
2003/2005: Seabiscuit / Cinderella Man - I liked both.

Beer League and Beerfest is another pair, neither of which I care to see. I like beer - drinking it, not watching a movie about it.

2005/2006: Sky High / Zoom- Sky High is far superior. It has better cast of characters, and GAWD the villian was hot.
2005: Cheaper By the Dozen / Yours, Mine and Ours. Both are not very good, but Cheaper by the Dozen is millions of miles above YMO.

...So I'm curious, did anyone like, watch The Thin Red Line, or did they turn it off after 10 minutes because there wasn't a massive slaughter like in SPR?

I believe both the Illusionist and the Prestige will be amazing. I liked Deep Impact, but wasn't too fond of Armageddon. The whole feel of the movie was too....Michael Bay.

I dunno, Flightplan really wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Maybe because I was expecting a terrible flick, but the little girl was awesome the way she appeared to be half dead. Plus, she said she's gonna do Playboy when she's of age. Okay, she didn't, but I'd encourage her to, it's the only way. Also, Jodie Foster is a lesbian, and lesbians who build planes are fantasmic. Then again, I'm sexually attracted to Cillian Murphy and whatshername in the seat next to him (who should've been Lois Lane, but whatever) so I guess it's a toss up. Neither film was really that great.

Plus, I hear you can die if you stare into his eyes for more than 9 seconds. It's like the sun during an eclipse, except I don't think you can die from an eclipse, so in closing, it's nothing like an eclipse.

Oh yeah, thatīs a sports car classic...
On the topic, itīs weird to say it cuz I think usually Pixar kicksīDreamworksīass, but between Antz and Bugīs Life, I like the first more. I love the idea that itīs this animation that feels like a Woody Allen movie - actually much better than most movies Allen actually directed in the last few years - , and I think it has a smarter take on the individual vs. colony thing.

Apparently New Line Cinema has bought the rights to another book about the Black Dahlia case. Black Dahlia Avenger is written by an LA homicide detective who claims to have solved the case.
So after Capote/Infamous we might be getting a The Black Dahlia/Black Dahlia Avenger pair. I suggest New Line waits to see what business Infamous does before putting this one in production.

Nooo, I loved it. Saw it in the theater and loved it, despite the fact that the experience was almost ruined by some ****ing punk ass little bastards, laughing at everything. Bought it and saw it several times, although it is a long movie and feels like it.
I just enjoyed SPR more, it has better rewatch, and I am more fascinated with ETO than PTO.

1993, 1994 - Tombstone and Wyatt Earp : Never saw either one.
1998 - Armageddon and Deep Impact : Only saw Deep Impact
1998 - The Thin Red Line and Saving Private Ryan : Saving Private Ryan
1998 - Antz and A Bug's Life : A Bug's Life
2003, 2004 - Finding Nemo and Shark Tale : Finding Nemo, Shark Tale is a failed ripoff.
2004, 2005 - Ray and Walk the Line : Walk The Line, because Joaquin did his own singing. He was also robbed at the Oscars.
2006 - Flight 93 and World Trade Center : Haven't seen either yet, don't intend to.
2006 - The Illusionist and The Prestige :
