View Full Version : Am I the only one who doesn't want Harley Quinn in TDK?

No, really. I just don't like that idea very much. A lot of what I have seen of her in The Animated Series and many other comics seems too corny and cartoony for Nolan's films (although she would have felt right at home in Burton's). Not to mention the fact that it looks as if all of Nolan's Batman outings are going to be pretty heavy on story with lots of characters in the background. I'd rather have increased development for far more important characters like Batman/Bruce Wayne, the Joker and especially Gordon and Dent than waste precious screentime on Harley.
Just my two cents.

No, you arenīt. Quinn worked well in the world of TAS but she doesnīt quite fit Nolanīs bat-world, I think.
I never liked the idea of Joker having a steady girlfriend, no matter how twisted and abusive the relationship was... Bruce canīt hold a griflriend but Joker can? How pathetic that makes him look?

Yeah, I loved her on TAS but I just don't think that she could work in a serious atmosphere. Plus it would just be too soon. The Joker should at least start out solo.

Never cared much for her outside the world of TAS. She is Dini's character, and I always thought it was a mistake taking her outside the Timm and Dini-verse.

I dont want her in TDK, but I think she could be crucial in the next film by being the one who breaks out Mr. J.

I love the character, but you're not the only one not wanting her in TDK. I don't see how you can get her to credibly fit into the Begins' universe without it looking comic-booky.

agreed
I don't think Harley Quinn as she's meant to be would work in Nolan's series. Which is fine, doesn't matter to me if she's not in it.

Harley prolly won't even be in this series, so there's really nothing to be worried about.
With that said, all of you that said Harley wouldn't work in a serious take didn't really seem to grasp the character at all. Idk how many times CConn's brilliant post on the character has to be posted...

I agree that she should stay in the cartoon only. Keep her, along with Robin and Batgirl far away from Nolan's interesting work.

It won't bother me if she isn't in, but I think she'd fit in perfectly.

No, you aren't.
I have no problems with Quinn, but I just don't want to see her untill 3rd movie.
Joker should be a lone bastard :D

i don't want a full on harley, but i just like the idea this woman who is professional and trained to deal with these people just losing it and becoming obsessed (sexually and otherwise) with the joker. it's just a cool idea and demonstrates that the joker isn't just another lunatic, he's something worse. she doesn't have to be dressed in a clown outfit and all that s**t, but the idea of joker's therapist falling in love with him is really twisted and awsome and i think nolan could work wonders with it.

"Can I say that I don't want to see Harley Quinn? Not only is she a weak character that offers very little of interest in comic form, she's remarkably inappropriate for Nolan's world"
So, no you're not...

If some have in mind tooning it up with their unbreachable traits of harley then Fenrir you are definitely not alone. I dont see anything wrong with joker having female help who has a street name of Harley Quinn (harlequin), but her real name id change, along with the outfit to be more.. Nolan.

I wouldn't want to see her until a possible 5th movie if at all.

See the problem I see with Harley Quinn is that I view The Joker to be a villain along the lines of Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs and John Doe from Se7en, in that he is just as much dangerously sick and twisted as he is ingeniously unpredictable. The very idea of subscribing a female sidekick or even lover to such an antagonist is the cinematic equivalent of blasphemy in my opinion.:(

I don't much like Quinn, especially for TDK, but there is a certain thematic element to Joker (evil) being able to have a girlfriend and Batman (good) not. In that it has a deeper sentiment to it, evil and instant satisfaction, good and giving up certain luxuries...
...but still, no.
Batman can have a goverment tank, im sure joker can have a girlfirend, he is still a guy now.

I got a bit annoyed with Harly after a while. She started hogging the Joker's limelight and made him almost "human".

What exactly were you watching? Joker has literally been an abusive "bf" to Harley ever since they've been together. I've never seen Joker giving Harley any sort of sympathy (not seriously anyway).

I don't dislike Harley, but I don't know if she should be in this movie. Maybe under her Quinzel name at the end or something. Like, after the credits, have her walk down the hallway whistling the B:TAS Joker theme, walking into a room with a straitjacketed Joker, and she got a look of plesant suprise and says "Well, Helloooo, Puddin!"

The voice would sound much less silly if it were the normal actresses imo... "yes mister j". She can be his doofy pest, or his efficient agent, i prefer the last one.

Has there been any talk about her being in the film
did you hear something about that? (credible)
I don't know why there would be a problem w/ her in the movie. I just would'nt have her suit up. Just have an actor play the part of the intelligent/ beautiful doctor quinn with about as much screen time as commshinor loeb or earl had on film. Not the joker sidekick and everything will be fine.

I want Harleen Quinzelle in TDK - however I would not mind Harley because I love the character. Now I would love Harley to be in BB3 (and Zooey Deschanell to play her).
The Joker should start out solo though. No henchman, no Harley - just Joker.

Um, I think Nolan's Batworld IS the Batworld of the comics. People can keep claiming that it's more grounded and realistic, but that's ridiculous. Batman is pure pulp goodness, and Nolan, and the fans, would do well to remember it.

For this movie, I'd agree with the sentiment that Joker should stay solo --- him being solo sets him up as a more immediate parallel to Batman, a more direct rival that plays against all the other sides and just wreaks his own breed of havoc in Gotham's war.
... but that said, I'd totally love to see Harley in the third movie, assuming they bring back the Joker in it. ;)

I always saw Joker as more of a glorified manipulative murderer with a really charasmatic personality and a rock star esque appeal, kinda like Charles Manson.

I dont even care not seeing Robin or Catwoman.

If she was in it she proablybe one on Joker's peoples. Someone did a manip of her in a black slevless teee red leather jacket ( dark red) and black skirt and black boots and the whit face paint . She might just be there for when Joker says Harley the car or Harley go and greet blah blah. Stuff like that . She would be more modernized so she would be the complete opposite of what she is in the TAS. Mean Serious and queit IMO. Although i really like her goffy side. " "Hello Puddin" that makes me laugh. Another alternative would be that she broke out Joker And she was a Phyciatrist(very bad spelling i know) ya know what some of you guys have been sayin.http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

This could work, if Joker even survives.

The only way I would want her in TDK is in the VERY END... like within the last 10 minutes of the movie. Like, breaking him out of Arkham or something. Other than that... wait until the next film. AND I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE COSTUME FROM THE COMICS/CARTOON IN LIVE ACTION. It would be horrible. Maybe like a red leather jacket with playing cards sewn in it, and tight leather red pants. I would atleast like her hair to be in pig-tails as well.
