Seems the success of DEAD RISING has CAPCOM rethinking PS3 exclusive deals.
Japanese analysts have noted the strong initial shipments of Capcom's Dead Rising for the Xbox 360, and believe that the game's performance is indicative of recent reforms at Capcom USA.
ImageNikkoCitiGroup raised its forecasts for Capcom due in large part to Dead Rising's "brisk repeat business" as well as "reforms at Capcom USA."
According to the investment firm, Capcom shipped 320,000 copies of Dead Rising in its first week (the game launched August 8 in the US), and Capcom has forecasted shipments to reach 450,000 units by today. Based on the game's better-than-expected performance, NikkoCitiGroup upped its fiscal year (ending March 2007) shipment expectations for Dead Rising to 800,000 units from 660,000.
This initial success of Dead Rising outlines the increasingly important role of digitally downloaded demos. NikkoCitiGroup analyst Soichiro ***uda wrote, "Robust Dead Rising sales suggest the establishment of a successful pattern for US marketing whereby trial version downloads stimulate interest and lead to stronger actual sales." Users downloaded around 300,000 Dead Rising demos over Xbox Live worldwide.
NikkoCitiGroup also expects Capcom's upcoming title Lost Planet for Xbox 360 to utilize trial downloads.
***uda speculated that the "healthy sales" of Xbox 360 titles may prompt Capcom to take currently PS3-exclusive titles multi-platform. He wrote, "If that happens, it will give the company a chance to make the most of its PC-based development program, which aims to enhance efficiency by utilizing PCs through the primary stages of development."
Devil May Cry 4 and a version of Monster Hunter are two Capcom titles that have only been announced for PS3.
***uda commented further on Xbox 360/PS3 ports, saying, "Capcom will conduct the first 50–60 percent of the PS3 and Xbox 360 development process on PCs, only in the final stages using a development approach that is optimized for either the Xbox 360 or the PS3."
The aforementioned Capcom USA business reforms ***uda referred to have much to do with Capcom's recently hired North American marketing boss Mark Beaumont. Part of his next-generation strategy is to introduce new IP early on (see Dead Rising and Lost Planet), while still supporting Capcom's catalog of popular franchises. He also places special emphasis on the creation of products with a more global appeal.
NikkoCitiGroup raised its fiscal 2007 earnings forecast for Capcom to 8.2 billion yen ($70.8 million) from 7.8 billion yen ($67.3 million); fiscal 2008 to 10.8 billion yen ($93.2 million) from 9.5 billion yen ($82 million); and fiscal 2009 to 12.5 billion yen ($107.9 million) from 11 billion yen ($95 million).
Hell... More CAPCOM games on X360 is fine by me.

Probably, but unless it releases before Ninja Gaiden 2, I'll probably not bother with it.

That goes without saying since the Playstation is the only console it has ever been on :p
Its likley that DMC as well as a few other titles that have so far only appeared on the Playstation will turn up on X360.
Its something that CAPCOM America have trying to push for some time now. Its clear that their plan of new and fresh I.P's is working so I am sure CAPCOM Japan will be more interested in taking certain titles (that have a good chance of selling well) multi platform.
Dont forget that there has also been strong talk of an exclusive Wii DMC Title in the planning stages.
This would be neat, if it happens.

Well, Capcom said they had a few big announcements to make (X360 and Wii games I guess) Plus Nintendo are supposed to be making a whole bunch of really awesome game announcements over the next few days.

This rumour has been around for a while. I think it will really depend on the sucess of the ps3. 360 has almost five million units sold (as of july) so that would be a fairly big fan base audience to ignore, which could be costly with soaring development costs, but we will see.

I think there are alot of signs pointing to DMC going multi platform. We will know soon enough anyway.

I really hope this is true. I've played all of the DMC games and this is the only game that I would want a ps3 for. I'm not going to spend 600 bucks on a system when I only want one game.

I remember those rumors but aren't they pointing to future iterations in the series after the forth one and games like Devil May Cry 5 might go multi platform

It wouldn't surprise me if it was ported to other systems. It wouldn't be the first time Capcom have jumped ship with big titles. I do hope it isn't true though. DMC4 is one of the few PS3 games with the potential to get people excited.

Yeah, there were a few different rumors. We will see if any of them come true pretty soon.

I think it's strange that some people in this thread, who are all steaming Sony fanboys, don't think this could happen. Capcom has flat-out said that they have a multiplatform strategy for this generation, and with their recent offerings plus RE5 on the way, I don't think anyone should be wierded out by this.

Capcom will be focussing on multiplatform games in the future and therefore no longer be developing exclusive games. Capcom's CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto announced this yesterday during the companies annual report.
The reason for this decision are the higher next-gen development costs. By releasing a game for multi-platforms Capcom can expand its sales and optimise its profits.
It seems very likely that games such as Devil May Cry 4 will no longer be Playstation-exclusive, and shall be released on Xbox 360 as well.

Awesome!!!!
No PS3 required for me!
I still want a Ps3 for Motorstorm, MGS4 and Heavenly Sword, but still....yay!

The impression I got was that games starting development from now on would be multi-platform, and that those ones already in development would stay on the console for which they were already being developed, with the possibility of a later port.
I don't expect DMC4 to be released on PS3 and 360 at the same time.
I hope Konami follows the same route... :(
Perhaps it'll be released a few months later?

*waits for SONY fans to complain that the PS3 DMC4 wont look as good now that it has to be downgraded to work on the lowly X360 now :o (just like they complained with ASSASSINS CREED) *

Joystiq posted a rummor about Konami pushing Kojima Productions to go multiplatform with MGS4 because it was costing them to much to keep it a PS3 exclusive. It's ONLY a rumor so don't get your hopes up yet. But in all honesty.....console exclusive games are going the way of the dodo bird. I think that's great. Now there will be no need to own ALL of the systems.
It's just that these "high cost to develop for one console" rumors are so frequent....

Yeah, my manager brought back a poster from confrence that had the 360 logo on it. It said "Jump In.....Mr. Kojima."
I swear, it was the coolest thing ever.

Wahahahaa, that's funny.
Kojima is ugly and I don't like his game though, he can stay out as far as I care.
I speak for myself though.
