The pink PS2 and PSP. Very fetching:
http://uk.ps2.ign.com/articles/726/726746p1.html
And the price drop. Not a huge drop, but it's under £100 in the UK now, which is a good price landmark to cross:

They're really plugging the whole social gaming thing. A shame for all us friendless loners. :p

The public are still purchasing. We're lucky to get a drop at all. Not that it matters to me anyway. I still have my launch day PS2 and it works fine.

YEAH, WELL "THE PUBLIC" IS STILL BUYING DVD PLAYERS TOO........AND YOU CAN GET A BRAND NEW ONE AS CHEAP AS $38 NOW. THE 'PS2' TECH IS 6 YEARS OLD, AND WAS ALREADY OUTDATED THE DAY IT LAUNCHED; THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR IT STILL COSTING OVER $100.......OTHER THAN SONY'S GREED.

I quite agree.
Still, if you were the owner of a business, you wouldn't be so keen to cut the price of a product that was still selling well. A business is about making profit.
The reason DVD players have come down in price is because there are so many rival brands competing. It drives the price down. The PS2 has only a handful of rivals, and they aren't competing in quite the same way as DVD players compete with one another.

When has that ever been a factor? I mean 600 for the new one is completely reasonable.:O
Yea, I still have my PS2 from several years ago, and I haven't had any problems with it.

The high price makes you want Snake to commit suicide. That's a little harsh. It's not his fault.
No, I think it makes Snake want to commit suicide :(

But he was committing suicide prior to the price being announced wasn't he? :p He has other reasons. Perhaps the fact that Raiden is back.
Don't **** with me or I'll eat your face with some mojito on it :cmad:

In a shocking move, Nintendo has absolutely ripped off Sony's spectacular move in Europe, not releasing it's own hot pink DS lite to rival the hot pink PSP and PS2.
Scandal. Just scandal. :p
GC 2006: DS Lite in the Pink
Pink's clearly in this season as Nintendo unveils a brand new version of its DS Lite for Europe.
by IGN UK Staff
UK, August 23, 2006 - Nintendo has revealed that a brand new pink version of its DS Lite is set to hit Europe later this year.
http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/727/727460p1.html
According to the company, the pink DS Lite is "the perfect accessory to brighten up those dull autumn days". What's more, the diminuitive handheld will apparently "find a happy home in the most stylish of bags and is perfect for those on the go".
Japan has already been graced with the pink (or Noble Pink, as its known over there) DS Lite, available in the territory since July 20. The European version of the pink handheld joins Nintendo's other Euro-exclusive colour, black, with no word currently on whether the machine will be heading to North America any time soon.
Nintendo's pink DS Lite is set to land on European shelves from October 27 for around 100 quid.
Apparantly they're already pink editions in Japan, but still we all seem to like allegations of idea theft here on SHH! so I thought I'd add my own.

SON used the power of CELL to rip a hole in Space/Time and go back to release the Pink PS2/PSP before nintendo released the pink DS.
So SONY copied NINTENDO once again ;)

I think they'll further be annoyed that in their next announcement, Sony intend to steal their sexual orientation.
