Not the best, but this is my version of Starscream, I mean if Prime can resemble Prime, then I think it should carry on to the other well known characters...
this is just a silly mock up, it's not the best I know, but it represents what most of us are looking for:

Hell, put that head and those legs on the new Starscream...and make the arms less ape like in length and that would be good enough for me. Not that I wouldn't prefer a design like this but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.
nosebleed.

While it looks very cool we all know now that Bay's designers are going for a more alien looking robot with very angular design. Not saying I agree with it, I wish he could look exactly like Masterpiece Starscream but oh well, its not like it can be changed.

They're going for an more unearthly design by making them look like earth bugs:up:

Lol...makes you think. If aliens did come to earth would they look like anything from Earth? I'm thinking that they might be beings of pure energy...either that or big walking pieces of poo.

Or we might through some fluke of nature actually be a very successful evolutionary form, and the universe will be like Star Trek and all aliens will look similar to humans.

What I don't understand is, why do Autobots look normal and Decepticons have to look like ****ed up metal freaks?
They are all Transformers, just because one fraction is Evil they have to resemble Insects? Why? Because people would be too stupid to tell who's evil and who's not?

I just hope that Starscream won't resemble that toy prototype. Its a prototype for a reason, and trust me, with any design there were 40 that came before its final incarnation.
I just thought that the "Insect" Starscream, realistic or not, is just an inferior design to the 80s version. Period. If they use it, my question would be this: Why give Scream such an uninspired design and give Blackout a better design?

too blocky
While thats very cool and all that,
1. Have you worked out how it transforms?
2.The design would be out of place in the movie. It just doesnt fit. It would fit in the G1 cartoon yes, but the movie designs are nothing like that.
3. Im gonna make it clear, I have no problem with the robot modes (except for the moment starscream as he just looks stupid.). The reason the bot modes look so different from the cartoons is simple, have you ever tried posing the the toys? You can get away with crossing the arms of a character in the cartoon as you just draw it that way, but try crossing the arms of your design. He cant. He would just look ackward and this is why Bay and co. have gone with the 'endo skeleton' approach. Its the only way to keep them from being clumsy.
*prime still should have been a flat nose hahaha*

I found this in the pictures thread.....
Found this at transformersmovie.com message boards.
The following message comes from Brian Goldner, COO of Hasbro.
"Please let the people on the board know that any grey models they have seen are VERY early forms of toys and will be revised and changed, and will gain tremendous detail as they move toward finished products...
thanks and regards,
Brian Goldner"
I found this on tfw2005.com so I guess this may be good news.

Even if the prototype we saw isn't the final design, which I pray to god it isn't, how is it possible that something that hideous was able to see the light of day in the first place?
Did they start building prototypes with the thought in mind to make it as ugly and unrecognizable as humanly possible? Just for the heck of it? I mean we get Prime that looks like Prime. But Starscream looks nothing like himself. If they wouldn't name him Starscream people wouldn't even be able to tell who he is.

go and look at the ROTS dvd and look at the process of designing the aliens. They build several models and Lucas comes in and picks the one he likes...it's the same here. Several prototypes are made and then the one Hasbro, Bay, DW likes is picked

It is kid of funny how fans are cranking out better looking stuff than the people making the movie.

Uh... not really. All he did was to take Starscream from "Transformers: Cybertron" and add the parts of a Jet. If he'd actually designed that Starscream all by himself then I would agree.

yeah he looks like the cartoon to a point but if he were knocked down he would never get back up he can't even sit down with that jetnose sticking straight down. he has to be fuctional as well as good to look at.

^True enough. You never did see them sit or anything on the show. While people are going insane over new designs, you have to take actual real world physics into account.

godzilla look at that model now lay it down on its back now picture it sitting up or rolling over to get to its feet. it cant the nose piece keeps it down on its back and the wings on its arms and legs keep it on its back it dont work

How exactly would that.... thing... have a easier time sitting or standing up from the ground than the Cartoon Designs?

look at his hip and the bottom of his i guess groin area, he can sit up he might have a hard time rolling over but i think like a turtle he would eventually manage it

DETAIL ! That's laughable. They already look too busy as-is. There's nothing one can do to save a design when the basic approach is already wrong.

So the rationalization for a crappy, ugly Starscream design is that he is able to logically sit down? :whatever:
I have a better idea.
Since robots never/ever/get/tired. How about a cool design that actually looks good and maybe resembles (somewhat) one of the classic Transformer villains to make the FANS happy. Bay can then save that creative freedom to never ever write in a scene in the movie where Stascream sits down. :(
Some how I doubt people would feel disappointed or jipped if they walk out of the movie and said “ya know what, the movie was good, but it could have been GREAT if Starscream just sat down once.... just once geez.”
Or
“I might have liked the movie, I guess, but WTF did they do to Starscream, he looks like deep fried ass!”
Somehow, I feel I would opt for the far lesser of two evils. ;)

my arguement is that he cant get up. and part of getting up might be to get into the sitting postion, which he cant even do in that design....and at least you can see what kind of vehicle he transforms into unlike optimus

Real world physics? Thats a problem with this project, people keep going on about real world physics and an excuse for lack of masschangers and crappy designs. Let me tell you something about real world physics, in real world physics optimus prime wouldnt likely be able to stand much less walk without buckeling under his own weight. Im sure alot of the Bay appologist would just love to see that movie. I can just imagin the box office gross from "Transformers:Broken supports and hip joints"
I think this project would be doing a hell of alot better if they remembered this is an action fantasy movie , and by no means HARD SF. :down

I think there are some things you are missing in your assessment. Not only are these robots, they are transformers. Many of the joints including the waist are going to have 360° of articulation.
Where the toy or a physical model may not sit or appear to have a way to get up from a prone position. They can be animated using real world physics correctly and explain how a machine using something a bit closer to the original Starcream model would get up if it were knocked down.
They same argument could be made for this new model, but in all honesty, if you had a choice why would you go with the butt ugly turtle, chicken robot thing?
My major hope is that they may have two versions of each character. One will be their Cybertronian (sp?) “alien” form and one where they have been remolded to more of a earthly version of themselves to blend in.

im not defending this look im just saying that it isnt so bad, it looks like a robot that turns into a jet. would i change a few things about it sure i would. but the g1 version is not any better or worse than this one. i personally never like starscream, to much of a whiner. meg's should have destroyed him long ago for trying to back stab him so many times.

Brian Goldner could be lying of course. Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg spent a whole year on thexverse.com lying about what would be in X3.
They said X-Men fans would be pleased with Cyclops role in the film.
They said Rogue kicks ass in the film.
They said professor Xavier gets to do alot in this movie.
They said Collosus has a bigger role in X3.
They said many changes were made to the leaked script at Ain't it cool news.
They said Juggernaut and Collosus would fight.
They said the phoenix effect would be shown in the film.
They said Ice-man would use an iceslide.
Brian could be telling the truth but as for now I am a pessimist.
