I thought he said that it wasn't totally confirmed yet....so we could still get it on Friday right?
There is a possibility that it may still show up on Friday, but it is so slim that I really don't think there is much point hoping for it now. I have been told that as soon as some more concrete info is available I will have it, and I will then pass it on to you guys.
I know Fox are just as disappointed as some us about this delay. They REALLY want to show us that FF2 is going to step up to the plate, I am hearing very positive things about the trailer from various people involved with the movie, they are really happy with it. It's just some of the effects shots, which take a great deal of time and skill to craft.

Its kinda bittersweet news for me. I am really happy for those of you in the US who will be seeing it, really kinda upset that I have to wait until next week to get my first look. I am going to have to steer clear of any reports for it otherwise it is going to spoil the surprise for me.
Heres hoping that anyone outside the US gets to see it as quick as possible!

Not angry lol It's not like someone has just tried to murder me. Just kinda sad. It will come soon enough though, I just got myself so hyped up for it on Friday that I have been kicked back a bit. I'll be just as excited when it comes out next week, or whenever. I just hate reading the trailer reports, I would rather not know what is going to be going on in it until I see it. Especially when its just a teaser.

My Theater manager said they usually don't know what is attached until prints actually come in on thursday.
However mattc reported on his site that the trailer was shipped loose in its own can. I take that to mean that the theatres will be getting the trailer at the last minute and will make a decision as to whether to put it up on Friday Saturday or Sunday. Those are my thoughts.

I'm sure there will be a number of industrious individuals out there with digital camcorders and that we'll see this thing on YouTube by Friday night.
It'll probably get yanked within hours of each posting, but I bet it'll be there. The quality will likely be similar to the Showest footage of early '05 (remember that?) but if it's your only option...

There was some mention that it would be on the Friday Entertainment shows. Is that still going?
*Edit - nevermind, I just re-read the blurb, and it sounds like the TV spots will be delayed at least a few days - they're probably trying to get people to see Night at the Museum by with-holding it.*

Its not harder.Like Willie said Fox probably want more people to see Night at The Museum.
They now run the risk of someone recording it in a theater and posting it on youtube.I doubt they want people to see it in crappy quality so that makes this decision even more puzzling.

I'm definitely confused by and dissapointed with the decision to hold off on web release of the trailer. I really had no intentions of seeing NATM. Didn't they pull this same move with Elektra and the first FF trailer?
I still have hopes though that FOX will shock us with the unexpected, and put this baby online simitaneously.

I don't know why they're not letting the entertainment outlets (ET, Access Hollywood, etc) have it for Friday's shows. I can't see it affecting the box office for NATM much at all. And those shows would certainly make a bigger deal of it than the dark & murky Transformers trailer.

My little boy (Ben) has a birthday party ending at 1:00 tomorrow, about the same time the new films arrive at the local multiplex.
If the loose trailer makes it here with tomorrow's movies, the manager may screen the trailer for us then! Fortunately we have a pretty cool manager and he agreed that would be a great birthday surprise.

Oh well, either way, from a b.o. perspective it was a smart move. I have a sinking feeling if the next TF trailer will go balls-out action on us, it'll be a huge hit. Honestly after seeing that recent trailer, idk if FF can pique the interest as that did.

Before the Island all his movies were smashes so that's irrelevant and yes the budget is around $150M,it may be more but i think Spielberg and Paramount are smart enough to know this type of movie needs a lot of money

Unknown at the moment. But with ILM working on this for the past year already, in the very least it has to be 150 million. I expect it closer to be around 200 however.

Actually FF has been in production for over a year. As tim flattery and others have revealed the production on FF had been going on for at least a year as he was working on the Fantasticar concepts and designs which TIm Story saw before production started in August so that means that FF2 has been in production for a some time.

Teaser Trailer in Theaters / Not Online This FridayMore News (http://www.f4movies.com/)Tuesday December 19th, 2006http://www.f4movies.com/assets/static/spacer.gifhttp://www.f4movies.com/assets/static/spacer.gifhttp://www.f4movies.com/assets/news/f4.jpghttp://www.f4movies.com/assets/static/spacer.gifWe warned you (http://www.f4movies.com/news/0419.shtml) that the details were tentative, and now we have received an update from 20th Century Fox regarding the much anticipated teaser trailer for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
I have been told that the trailer (which comes in at a runtime of 1 minute and 42 seconds) has now officially been completed, Fox are very happy with it, and that it will definately be showing with Night at the Museum (http://www.nightatthemuseum/) in the US from this Friday. The trailer has been sealed up and is being sent off "loose in the can" (shipping seperately from the movie, and manually attached at the last minute) to theaters across the US as I type. If you are going to see Night at the Museum (http://www.nightatthemuseum/) JUST for the trailer, please be sure to check with your local theater first, because the trailer may or may not be included depending on whether or not they had added it.
We have also been told that the television and internet releases of the trailer will not be happening until "at least a few days" later. This means that the trailer will most likely be available online (we are hearing it will most likely be available in High Definition!) at some point next week. We'll get those details to you when they are released. As always, watch this space.

Funny you should ask! I just returned home from building and dry-running Night (I'm a projectionist). And of course, I absolutely had to check out this trailer. I was very satisfied with what was shown, which was mostly Surfer V. Torch. Below is a description of the trailer as I remember :
TRAILER SPOILERS!!!!
It starts of with quick shots of Reed and Sue walking down the aisle. We see Johnny smiling proudly and the Thing wiping away tears.
There's a flash in the sky, and Reed looks over at Johnny who replies, "C'mon, I just bought this!" (Referring to his tux) He rolls his eyes and leaps over the edge of the building yelling, "Flame On!"
What follows is an amazing chase sequence between Surfer and Torch through a tunnel. At one point the Surfer passes THROUGH a subway bus and the Torch fx really look excellent as he flies through the very narrow gap between vehicles.
Surfer ends up way above the streets of NY with Torch in hot pursuit. We then see him turn around, literally catch and hold Torch by the throat until he 'flames off' and begins to fall...

Thanks for taking the time to give us a summary of the trailer Atticus!!:D It sounds like its a really cool sequence :D Were you impressed visually with how Silver Surfer looked?
No problem! I have to say that I was pretty impressed with the Surfer, especially when you consider that this is merely a teaser trailer. The Surfer himself looked like a glorified T-1000 from T2, appearing to be made of liquid metal, and the shots go by so fast that it's hard to get a real good look at him. But what I noticed most was how well he blended in with his surroundings. It wasn't a copy and paste job, Weta took the time, and it definitely adds a more realistic touch to see things like the reflections of objects or the light of Torch's flames as he closes in on the Surfer. The animation of the Surfer gliding through the air was also quite stunning, it was very fluid and natural.
So far it looks like Weta's doing another top-notch job, and I can't wait to see the final product this Summer. :yay:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/31051
“The cool approach that Fox has taken with this is to show a single scene - or at least an extended portion of a scene, as opposed to the usual barrage of quick cuts associated with action trailers (kind of like the trailer for last summer's The Devil Wears Prada, which I think was also a Fox film). We start at the wedding of Sue and Reed, with actor (and comic book fan) Brian Posehn as the preacher. Suddenly a silver streak splits through the sky. Reed directs Johnny to flame on and follow the object. The rest of the teaser is a high speed chase between Johnny and the Surfer. ”

A little more detail from the article linked by AICN
The cool approach that Fox has taken with this is to show a single scene - or at least an extended portion of a scene, as opposed to the usual barrage of quick cuts associated with action trailers (kind of like the trailer for last summer's The Devil Wears Prada, which I think was also a Fox film).
We see the Surfer trying to shake Johnny off by using a power not seen in the comics - not to my knowledge, at least - wherein he's able to phase through solid objects (like the X-Men's Kitty Pryde or Marvel's android character The Vision). We see the Surfer phase through buildings and vehicles in an effort to outrace Johnny's pursuit. When that finally fails, the Surfer simply turns and grabs Johnny by the neck - stopping him cold. The Surfer then wordlessly flies them both to the outer reaches of the atmosphere where the lack of oxygen snuffs out Johnny's flame. The Surfer then releases Johnny, letting him plummet to the Earth as the title card slams onto the screen

If that is indeed the case, I dare someone to say the movie will be too goofy for them.

Interesting. I read the article about the trailer, as as I suspected, it will feature the Surfer. I think that will be the main point of most commercials, and trailers, the Surfer. Fox is going to hammer away at the Surfer, every chance they get. My biggest fear right now is that the Surfer, will overshadow the rest of the movie, like Jacks Joker, overshadowed Keatons Batman.

I say HELL NO, DMC was terrible!!! They should avoid that, in terms of character screen time, it felt like it was doing it for the sake of it, give the characters necessary time for the story, not any other agenda!

If that's the worst thing that happens, we're in good shape.
Nicholson's domination in 1989's Batman was irritating to me because it was Batman's big debut film, and as such it should have focused on him -the way Batman Begins did.
Sounds like audiences are gonna love this trailer. :yay:

He can alter the size of himself or of other matter, cast illusions, fire energy blasts, form and manipulate energy constructs, manipulate gravity, absorb and discharge most forms of energy, and phase through solid matter.

I'm so glad they're going for 616 surfer and avoiding the whole ultimate thing, eek! A lot of movies are swaying towards ultimate, which can work, but i want more classic stuff damn it! Juggernaught should never be a mutant in my opinion!

DMC was cheese filled over-the-top crap that took a step backwards from its entertaining original movie.
FF2 will be better then its entertaining predecessor.
This teaser description sounds absolutely amazing. I didn't think we'd see any serious Surfer stuff until well in to next year.

I disliked F4, but I have a feeling they've learned a lot from the first, and it will better. F4 was better than DMC though! But purely for the surfer, this film is gonna be huge! Surfer is probably the coolest general superhero!

One of the geniuses there was criticizing the FF movies being used to launch other characters and franchises. Pretty funny, considering that's pretty much what the FF did: give birth to over half the Marvel universe! :oldrazz:

If he can travel the speed of light of course he can phase through solid objects. It's a side effect of traveling that fast. However the question is can he do it at slower speeds. Obviously he can if the footage is not in slow motion...otherwise he'd be too fast to see.

From the SHH Main Page:
Fantastic Four Teaser Trailer Description!
Source: Atticus December 21, 2006
SHH! Boards member 'Atticus' posted the following description of the Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer teaser trailer that's about to hit theaters with "Night at the Museum." (Spoilers ahead!)

Powers and abilities
Some information in this section has not been verified and may not be reliable.
Please check for inaccuracies, and modify and cite sources as needed.
The Silver Surfer possesses vast power known as the "Power Cosmic," gained when Galactus restructured his former body. He has the ability to channel ambient cosmic energy into his body at will, and expel it violently as concussive force or gently as a means to restructure molecules according to his mental design. The Surfer can generate beams of energy with sufficient destructive force to destroy a planet or, by contrast, generate such subtle amounts of energy to restructure the molecules of the natural pigments within a plant to change its color. The Surfer can rearrange the molecules of matter to create other configurations and can even directly transmute elements. The Surfer can manipulate "chronal" energies and thus can peel back the veil of time to witness past events or to even directly travel through time. While he can use his power to revitalize life energies and heal the wounded, there is no proof that he can create life from nothingness or return the dead to life.
The Surfer possesses superhuman strength. Additionally, the Surfer can use the Power Cosmic to amplify his physical strength to a level at least rivaling that of an enraged Hulk. In addition, his body can move and react at superhuman velocities; he routinely navigates asteroid fields and attacks entire armadas of starships at or beyond the speed of light while maintaining surgical precision.
The Silver Surfer has certain cosmic energy-enhanced perceptions which enable him, through concentration, to become aware of the patterns of energy which surround him. Accordingly, he can sense great concentrations or deployments of energy at a great range, the extent of which is undetermined but is at least on an intra-galactic scale. He has a special affinity for the life energies of living beings, and can use his cosmic powers to augment them to a certain degree. The Surfer's other senses are also thus enhanced: he has demonstrated the ability to see as far as a light year while concentrating and without obstructions to his line of sight. Although the Surfer's senses are superhumanly keen, his sometimes detached and introspective nature occasionally leaves him unaware of his surroundings.
The forces binding together the molecules making up the silvery material that composes the Silver Surfer's "skin" are so great that there are few known forces in the universe great enough to overcome them. The inner portions of his body have also been restructured to be highly resistant to injury. Thus, the Surfer is invulnerable to most forms of physical harm. He can easily withstand great extremes of temperature caused by the build-up of friction within atmospheres, the vacuum of space or the intense heat found within stars. He has flown through the cores of stars and even soared through a supernova explosion on at least one occasion. He can survive without difficulties in the vacuum of outer space and hyperspace, and his body can withstand the stresses of travel at multiples of light speed in hyperspace. He has maintained that he is no longer in fact "mortal", but this is most likely an inference that he now has very little in common biologically with humans, rather than an assertion that he cannot be killed. It is likely that the Surfer does not age; his counterpart in the future timeline of the Guardians of the Galaxy is over a thousand years old and is at least as powerful as his present-day counterpart. The Surfer's mind has also been restructured so that he has considerable resistance to telepathy and other mind control methods. He has the ability to communicate with various alien species regardless of their native language, and to speak to others in the vacuum of space, possibly through a limited form of telepathy.
The Silver Surfer does not need to eat or breathe since he absorbs life-maintaining cosmic energy directly into his body. Although his body does not require sleep, his mind must still rest occasionally in order to give it an opportunity to dream.
By using his board to exceed 99.9% of the speed of light (186,282.397 miles per second), the Surfer can shift himself into hyperspace, a dimension in which velocity is not limited by the speed of light. The Surfer can also compress his own bodily matter so as to shift himself into a so-called microverse. Additionally, he can phase his body's molecules to pass through solid matter or energy.[citation needed]
Despite these vast powers, the Surfer is not completely unstoppable. He has in the past been wounded by vastly powerful forms of magic and by other users of the Power Cosmic, such as Galactus and his other heralds. He is not completely immune to psionics or other forms of mental attack or manipulation, although his willpower, spiritual strength, and Galactus' mental and spiritual tampering provide him with a superhuman resistance to mind control and psionics.
Paraphernalia and weapons
While flying, the Silver Surfer usually makes use of an object known on Earth as his "board", which was created by Galactus and is constructed of the same unknown substance as the Surfer's body; therefore, it too is virtually indestructible. Even when it was destroyed, the Surfer was able to easily reconstruct it.
---------------
Considering his abilities to fly through supernovas and what not, going through solid mass isn't exactly taking a liberty.
