I was looking at it on broader terms.

Stan Lee is the Father of Marvel. And the Fantastic Four are his eldest children...the Royal Family. I just thought it'd be nostaligic and symbolic to see him marry his own ficitional characters on screen...after all it started with him...and well, them.

Funny you should ask! I just returned home from building and dry-running Night (I'm a projectionist). And of course, I absolutely had to check out this trailer. I was very satisfied with what was shown, which was mostly Surfer V. Torch. Below is a description of the trailer as I remember :

TRAILER SPOILERS!!!!






It starts of with quick shots of Reed and Sue walking down the aisle. We see Johnny smiling proudly and the Thing wiping away tears.

There's a flash in the sky, and Reed looks over at Johnny who replies, "C'mon, I just bought this!" (Referring to his tux) He rolls his eyes and leaps over the edge of the building yelling, "Flame On!"

What follows is an amazing chase sequence between Surfer and Torch through a tunnel. At one point the Surfer passes THROUGH a subway bus and the Torch fx really look excellent as he flies through the very narrow gap between vehicles.

Surfer ends up way above the streets of NY with Torch in hot pursuit. We then see him turn around, literally catch and hold Torch by the throat until he 'flames off' and begins to fall...

The torch and the surfer as an opening sequence, Thank you Tim Story for fighting for this story.

Now give us DOOM & GALACTUS and it will be sufficient..... for now.

The transformers teaser was good for nobody except true fans of the franchise which I am not so I had no idea what the hell the point was. It should have been simpler and focused on one scene. The TF trailer was perfect,it showcased that something was coming to us that was forbidding like the ID4 and WOTW trailers,not everyone needs to have things spelt out for them,intruige is part of the fun

Because it's a teaser of what's to come. We've already been introduced to the FF. So they showed us a bit of what is apparently a scene that opens the film. Basically here's the new villain (or so it appears), and who the hell is he, and why is he here? Most people going to this film have no idea who he is and if they've heard of him before they dont' know the story in any detail. Probably a few % of the whole audience will.

If the footage is good I'm all for a longer movie but I don't want them padding the reel time with scenes that should be cut. Hopefully there's enough in there for about a 2hr film though the shorter ones do well for them.

That is a rather synical way to look at it. I would not call 330 million WW, not cutting it. It was the 1st movie of an untried, lets not spend a whole lot of money on it, movie. Which is what WB should have done with SR, but they opened up the vault to make it. Fox took the consertive approach with the 1st movie, and it paid off, so now they are willing to spend much more to make a better, faster, more action movie.

Not in the teaser. Besides they haven't wrapped production so post production hasn't even started execpt for what they've been doing on the fly. I don't want to see all the best scenes in the film in trailers anyways. Well, both of these characters are airborne, and are clearly the flashiest looking, aesthetically-speaking. To me, FOX focusing on them for marketing appeal makes total business sense.

Plus we all know Fox knows what their doing when it comes to marketing. They feel this is the way to start, highlighting the Tourch, and Surfer ? Brilliant from a marketing point of view. It's called Rise Of The Silver Surfer, so show the public right off the bat, who the Silver Surfer is, and a bit of what he can do.

Hmmmmmm ok JAL I recall that when I was a kid I used to want the torch to be the center of the action all the time, usually it was Thing and I always hated it when the torch lost to wusses like trapster so I think I understand where you are going with this. You want more Sue Storm (Alba).

I understand, I think LS would let you post a few alba pics to compensate for the trailer not giving you what you want right now.

DOn't worry there will be lots of Alba in the movie, as you can see from the video diaries they understand that she is an asset and needs to be showcased.

But expect more of the trailers to be like this. They had to do SS first, then they will probably have to do new Full on Doom, then they will gradually up the rest of the four exposure.

I am beginning to think they may keep Galactus for the movie.

I think if they get him anywhere close to ultimate alliance Galactus it will be one of the most stunningly beautiful scenes in the history of comic book movies.

I was laughing at the posters over at AICN, their barbs seemed so pathethic this time around, they did all they could and still could not kill the first movie.

You know this is maybe too much, I am now too hyped up for this movie.

Yes and this again is just a teaser. Of course they will show more in the next trailer when perhaps more footage has gone through post production and it's closer to the films release. They start showing everything too early then it's gonna feel like we've already seen the film before it comes out.

Here's a bit longer description of the teaser:

We see the Surfer trying to shake Johnny off by using a power not seen in the comics - not to my knowledge, at least - wherein he's able to phase through solid objects (like the X-Men's Kitty Pryde or Marvel's android character The Vision). We see the Surfer phase through buildings and vehicles in an effort to outrace Johnny's pursuit. When that finally fails, the Surfer simply turns and grabs Johnny by the neck - stopping him cold. The Surfer then wordlessly flies them both to the outer reaches of the atmosphere where the lack of oxygen snuffs out Johnny's flame. The Surfer then releases Johnny, letting him plummet to the Earth as the title card slams onto the screen - and the wait for next summer just got that much longer.

In less than a minute and a half, this teaser delivered more comic book action than the entire first film so I'd say that bodes well for FF2 to make the same leap in quality as X-Men 2 and Spider-Man 2. The Surfer looks incredible, and yes, I know this wasn't horror news but I hope you'll agree that it was way too cool not to rave about.

A friend just told me on the phone that he saw the trailer via internet earlier today on "IRC."
He said it could still be found if "someone was still sharing it." (Sounded like how Napster used to work.) He described the trailer to a t, though.
