I think they should do a Transformers remake. I'm not talking about the old 1986 movie, I'm talking about the one they're doing right now. It needs a remake. One that treats the source material with respect.

"One that treats the source material with respect"??? HA!!! The source material is a bunch of toys. Kids don't respect the 'source material' - they bash the hell out of them till they break.
And if it's a specific continuity you're talking about...well, pick one. And I don't mean one of the newer shows - I mean G1 cartoon, G1 U.S. comic, G1 U.K. comic, Dreamwave G1, IDW G1, Devil's Due JOE/TF G1, Alternators, Classics, etc. G1 is itself its own multiverse, fractured and irreconcilable to most who seem to think it was end-all-be-all of TF series.
I love G1 more than any of the other series, but I admit Beast Wars was better. We got good guys who made mistakes and a Megatron who actually accomplished something.
Besides, we've got enough damned remakes as it is.

Agreed. The 2007 live-action Transformers film is shaping to be a disastrous film that is completely unfaithful to the original animated series and comic books. The warrior modes are simply laughable.
nosebleed.

I've seen this idea brought up by other fans in the past. But what I think needs to be realized is that their dream of a Batman Begins-styled adaptation of Transformers will never happen unless the Transformers movie coming out next year is a success.

The movie should be fine... Spielberg is producing... not that "dumbass-no-talent-who-only-knows-what's-marketable-Jerry-Bruckheimer." So hopefully Spielberg will keep Michael Bay in check since at least Spielberg knows what's marketable as well as what makes good movies.

Easily agreed.
