It's actually starting to look pretty good. Certainly the best large battle game graphics so far. Pending Heavenly Sword though, this could be unseated.

Too bad it looks x10 better in pictures than in motion. If only somehow graphics were more valuable than gameplay to me. I mean really ALL nextgen first wave games look "Good" before they're released because of graphics and people being impressed by the nextgen capabilities.

The thing is that we don't have a movie of the most recent build, since this is most clearly a step up from how it looked at E3. So we don't know how much better it looks in motion. They seem to be using a high quality motion blur effect that's for sure.

I never played the first one, but that is shaping up to be really cool, plus the graphics look nice.

Instead of having a Dynasty Warriors clone game that stars a giant enemy crab. I would love to play as the Giant Enemy Crab slaughtering the warriors while protecting my weak spot which could cause massive damage! :up:

The game looks pretty enough. The demo is a little boring though, and there's some eery backward floating going on as the character 'slides' back.

September 22, 2006 - Time to dust off those ancient weapons. Sony had a new build of Genji: Days of the Blade on the TGS show floor this morning and it showed off entirely new areas and characters. While most discerning Genji fans already knew about the additional female character, she appeared in playable form for the first time today. Not only that, the demo showed off a new area that looked downright gorgeous.


What made it so unique was its use of color. The entire stage looked like a moving painting. That may sound over-the-top but the effect looked truly remarkable. Everything from the water effects to the look of the surrounding foliage has undergone a radical change for the better. It looks so different from what Sony had on display during E3 that it makes you do a quick double take to make sure it's the same game. While Genji 2 always looked decent, it now looks irrefutably fantastic. It still plays the same, of course, but there's no denying that it's one of the PS3's prettiest games.

The demo shown today started with the two male characters shown during in the E3 presentation. Both of them controlled the same as before, so there are no real surprises there. The new female character, Shizuka, plays differently than the two male characters. She's far more nimble, to start. This lets her dodge enemy attacks with greater ease than her cohorts, plus she looks better doing it. Not only that, her weapon combines the range of a bow and arrow with some of the strength of an ordinary blade. You can launch it toward distant enemies and deal a decent amount of damage, or you can slice them up real close for greater effect.

One of the attacks lets you stick the weapon, which actually looks like a sharpened Frisbee, into foes and then pull them in close. You still tear through the environment slashing at crabs and evil samurai, regardless of which character you happen to control, but the option to use Shizuka makes it more interesting. There's a four character, which you can see by the empty character slot in all the screenshots, but Sony has yet to announce who it is.


The demo ended with the same evil samurai shown at Sony's pre-TGS event. In order to beat him, you need to switch to Benkai, the slower male character, and break off chunks of is armor. You then switch to Yo****sune and mercilessly slash him to death. It's all pretty straightforward, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Fans of the series will definitely like the additions to the formula, such as the ability to switch between four characters any moment. And since each has a two weapons and a variety of special attacks, it should help keep things fresh.

To be honest, the gameplay looks a bit crap. Really boring and repetitive.

Graphically, the games actually pretty good looking. I haven't watched any videos/played the first Genji, but judging from the screenshots the game is at least somewhat good quality.

The IGN review is in. And it's not great. To be expected really. I don't think anyone was expecting this game to set the world alight.
