After being asked if the PlayStation 3 price would impact their decision to purchase one this fall, Jerry responded, "We've already talked about it, there's no chance we're buying a PS3 at launch. That's grade-A bull****."

The crowd erupted in applause, and bathed in their communal disdain for Sony's steep price point. The Penny Arcade guys continued explaining that their choice for next-gen gaming this fall will be the Wii60 combo platter. Of course, this echoes the sort of response we've seen both on Joystiq and the blogosphere as a whole. Maybe that's why Sony is the only one of "the big three" without a presence at PAX.

The complicated thing about deciding to buy a ps3 is the fact that if you own a hdtv then the playstation 3 is a bargain really. you remember when DVD's first came out and to get a good one it would cost you 300 bucks. Thats how I view the ps3 300 for a hdtv blueray player and 300 for the video game console. But I dont have an HDTV so buying a ps3 isnt an option for me because I cant justify the purchase without a hdtv. But if I had a hdtv i would get a ps3 and a wii. As of right now I'mjust getting wii because I cant justify the purchase of a 360 either without hd

I own an hdtv and I in no way find the ps3 to be any kind of bargain. Why would a person spend so much on Blu-ray near launch when it's an unproven format from a company with a proven history of failed formats when I can just wait a bit for the external HD-DVD drive for the 360, which I guarantee will be below $200, most likely $100.
