The first PS3 GT game will be a port of the last GT game (seen at E3 as GTHD). Basically a straight port of the PS2 game but running at 60fps at 1080p.
The game received very little attention at E3 due to its blandness.
A full next gen GT game is still a few years away.

Then it better be pure budget price 19.99, be the combination of Tourist Trophy and GT4, and come with full online.

It would be nice. From what I remember though GT-Prologue was a full priced game.

Rubbish. Why waste their time on a crappy port, which most Gran Turismo fans will already own in a slightly less beautiful form.
They've had plenty of time to work on a true PS3 sequel, so how they're only in the very early stages of one...

WHAT IS IT WITH 'SONY' AND PORTS, ANYWAY? IT SEEMS LIKE HALF OF THEIR GAMES ON THE 'PSP' ARE 'PS2' PORTS.......AND SOME ARE EVEN PS1 PORTS. I KNOW 'NINTENDO' HAS BEEN GUILTY OF THE SAME WITH THE 'DS', BUT I THINK THEY'VE AT LEAST TRIED TO FRESHEN MOST OF THEM UP, BY ADDING THE DUAL SCREEN AND/OR STYLUS FUNCTIONALITY.

I really hope they at least attempt to add some new content. They surely can't simply update the graphics and do absolutely nothing else. It's a complete waste of time.

You don't mean that.
Simulations tend to lack in the fun department, but it's still a great series.

OH, BUT I DO.........'TOCA' MOPS THE FLOOR WITH 'GT'........AND 'FORZA 2' IS ABOUT TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY. YOU SEE, WHEN YOU SLAM INTO A GUARDRAIL......OR ANOTHER CAR.......DOING 100-200 MPH, THERE SHOULD BE CONSEQUENCES ; THE FOLKS AT 'POLYPHONY DIGITAL' HAVE YET TO FIGURE THAT OUT, IN 10+ YEARS. ALL THE REVIEWERS ARE OVBIOUSLY PAID TO GIVE THEIR 9-10 SCORES ; "BEST RACING SIM EVER" MY F***IN' ASS. :down:o

I agree with you on these points. The GT franchise just never seemed that fun to me, and I hated that you couldn't change anything cosmetic on the car. Plus I've never been into the grand detail of upgrading your car.
For right now at least I'll stick with Burnout, and Midnight Club 3.

I think that is my problem with it, I enjoy a good arcade racer much better than clunky racing sims....but....to each his own.

last i saw it mentioned it was called Gran Turismo Serie
So it might be a combination of All the Previous Games and Tourist Trophy.
modelling all the cars in the detail they have shown two in, for the real next gen Gran Turismo is going to take a while.
as for PGR/MSR vs Forza vs Gran Turismo. they each varying in the realism in various areas. so it depends on how much yu want the game to be like real life verses just playing a game. i mean do you want a sixty lap race over because of a crash on the last bend or not. do you want people not to be barging online. it's all about balencing the experience with the challenges. PGR had some nice racing modes that kept things intresting. but the damage was superfluous. tire wear didn't seem an issue either. but hitting things did effect you score meaning that dispight the lack of damage it pushed you to drive well within the boundaries of the physics engine. when Gran Turismo does the same it's in licence tests. with the handling of Gran turismo it's extremely difficult and thus more of a challenge. i haven't played much forza because the demo bored me. seems that it wanted nice smooth racing lines rather than drift racing. in that case i'd rather be playing a F1 inspired game.
i'll judge each new game in each series on it's own merits when it comes out. i hope they keep adding different racing types to all of them. covering all the environments that are good to race in and all the vehicles that are good to race them in.

I'd agree with what people have said about the lack of realistic damage in GT. You should be able to just plow into a wall and bounce of. We've been expecting some damage ever since GT3, and never got it.
Maybe with the true GT5 we'll get some actual damage. Some better customisation options.

The Makers of GT keep saying its the auto makers who are unwilling to have their cars destroyed virtually. Thast B.S since so many games in the last 5 yearsa have had damage and licenced vehicles.

It might be the case the certain manufacturers are unwilling to see their cars deformed. Even if it's just one or two brands refusing, that means the game would have some vehicles that could be damaged, and some that couldn't.
GT has a vast amount of manufacturers to cater for. To make it work, all need to agree to damage.
Though, a game with the bargaining power of GT, that manufacturers actually want to have their game appear in, should warrant some healthy bargaining power.

I say too bad though. GT is a huge series and does a hell of alot getting name brands out in the marketplace. They should have to submit to conditions of the developer, not the other way around IMO.
