Word on the PS3 instore demo units... "Kinda like the X360"

Want to know what the PLAYSTATION 3 demo stations are going to look like? An insider dropped word, giving us a detailed description of what we'll be testing out pre-launch. He got a sneak peak at the units and had this to report:

It looked very similar to 360's demo unit. The actual console was in a plastic "bubble" like 360, it was vertical, but it was off center at more of a 45 degree angle to the player so they can see the PLAYSTATION 3 logo and shiny top. It had two controllers. One of the key aesthetic features was a aluminum rectangular piece that went from the top, then curved behind the screen and console, then curved back out at the bottom. On the bottom it featured the old PlayStation logo.

Ah, I can just see it. It's like the 360's demo unit, but not. And we should we expect these Sony next-gen dispensers to barrel into North American retailers? Our insider said to disregard rumors that these would be appearing in September and said we won't see these until late October and early November.

Word is however that Wii would be using a widescreen LCD display in the demo units so I dont know how accurate these are.

True. But the people who aren't going to buy a PS3 will do so for a valid reason, such as it's too expensive, not worth it if you're interested in one game, don't see a need to have blu-ray. It certainly won't be based on a damned minor thing as the kiosk in a gamestore

it looks okay... nothing special, i guess.

i like the look of the 360 one, too, but i prefer the controllers being on wires instead of stuck in one place. that's annoying, and makes the games hard to play.
