The Question

Ted Kord = hawt secks.
I must give a suggestion, however. Since Ted's home town is Hub City, some throwaway mention of The Question would not be uncalled for. :D
In any event, your fan films are pretty damn sweet.

well unfortunately, there is no dialogue in this promo, but i can make mention of it in the script. i have ted reading up about batman in the gotham gazzette when he decides to persure being a vigilante, perhaps, there can be some mention of the question as well.

also, im not too sure where to set the whole movie. i was kind of leaning towards nyc.
The Question

Well, Ted's supposed to be from Hub City in the comics. You can film it where ever you like and simply call it Hub City.

true. i guess i will. no sense in not being faithful to the source material, right?

it should be done in about 2 weeks or so. i will also be screening it at New York Comic Con this febuary as well as being online like all my other stuff.
the nyc comic con screening will be part of a blue beetle themed panel discussing a new hard cover book about the life liniage of the character. i will also have a small featured part in the book as well. that book should be on shelves this april.

What sort of budget are you looking at? Sony HD or HDV? Sorry about all the questions, i'm just interested how other people do my job so to speak, lol. (looking cool btw!)
SpiderTime
09-20-2006, 10:16 AM
the sony hd cost a little under 4k. and final cut costs about 500 dollars. also, lighting kits can be about 1k. so what is it that you do?

well the 2nd blue beetle and spiderman were created with in 3 years of each other, if not at the same time. so yeah, yer gonna get that feeling. but the story line is very true to the orgin story in the comics. i dont know if youve read it or not, but the blue beetle has always been a character that reflects the current trends in superheroes. in the 1930's when he came out, he was a green hornet rip off. then a phantom rip off. then in the 1960's a spiderman rip off. and now, god knows what he is.

itll be screening at supercon in ft. lauderdale in florida. november 3rd - 5th. and the new york comic con this febuary.
where did you find the music? I keep making movies and having no music. its either no music or The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. And also what do you use for your special effects and everything?
SpiderTime
09-24-2006, 02:11 AM
the music, well i do have an extensive movie score librairy. but as for the artists, i used steve jablonsky's "the island" theme for the cemetary part. and for the action part, i used immediate music's "all hell breaks loose" score. its pretty cool. as for other artists to possibly borrow from, try looking up these names, it will definitely help you:
john powell
harry gregson-williams
danny elfman
john carpenter
marco beltrami
john ottman
john williams
don davis
steve jablonsky
mark mancina
graeme revell
immediate music
x-ray dog
those are all great composers with wonderful scores. look them up and you wont have to worry about those crummy bands anymore.
as for fx. get after effects for mac. thats how i did my fx.

Only problem with that is copyright issues, even if you show it on the net, people will get screwy, miniclip, youtube and atomfilms make money, so the composers and musicians will get pissy that someone makes money off of them, but you can usually get away with it, as long as you personally make no money from it

indeed, thats why im glad to be covered under the fan film umbrella. i only use existing music for my fan films. for my original work, i get original scores i either make myself or get someone to make for me.

spiderman 2
united 93

SpiderTime
10-08-2006, 12:50 PM
its both. there is a full screen play im writing. which will encompass the origin story as well as deal about jarvis and the madmen. but its not going to be made unless i have a real budget. im talking, a portion of the batman begins budget. so im using this promo short to pimp out the script to WB and if they ever go for it down the road, then yes, i will be making this into a feature. but until that glorious day, the promo is all there is.
its like grayson, but im not killing batman.
