I know feelings on this film may be mixed here, but I just caught the ending on TV, and it reminded me of how much I love it.

To me, it's a haunting masterpiece, and it's tragically beautiful, with moments of comic relief. I see it as Tim Burton at his best, filled with great performances by the cast.

It hit me hard when I first saw it, and even just the ending hit me today.

What do you guys think about it? or

How about some love for John Carpenter's "Starman"? Jeff Bridges is amazing in the film.

But yes, I love Edward Scissorhands. It's one of those films that has it all in terms of a little suspense, a little comedy, romance, and a bittersweet ending that you hope would turn out differently.

I remember seeing the ending as a kid and I cried like a little baby, it made me really sad to see Edward spend the rest of his life alone in the castle. In someway I was hoping Kim would've gone back to see him too.

Clearly one of Burton's best films.

Was Depp ever nominated for his performance?

I cried when I fist saw it as well, but I wasn't a kid. It was just so powerful. I mean, even though the story was unrealistic, it felt so real in the end.

And no, I don't think Depp was nominated. He was great, though.

I think there's already enough love for Edward Scissorhands. Not that he doesn't deserve it though.

ES is one of the best films of the 90s', and particuarly the best Depp/Burton film.

I loved every minute of it.

Vincent Price's death scene was pretty sad. Especially now, knowing that he died soon after he competed his role.

Edward was so close to being finished. That makes it all the more tragic.

I don't think the story was that unrealistic, but it definitely had a sense of reality that really created a powerful message.

To me it's one of those type of films that has a fairy tale quality about it.

Edward- Goodbye.

:( I swear when he says goodbye it gets me everytime.

Edward- Goodbye.

:( I swear when he says goodbye it gets me everytime.

What I meant by unrealistic was -- an inventor creates a man with scissors for hands. I mean, c'mon now. How often has that happened?

And yeah, that's one hell of a "Goodbye", especially when the beatiful score starts back up.

Bat Attack

The score reminds me of the Batman Returns because of the low stings and chorus, plus they both have that holiday season type-feel. I don't know if that makes any sense or not but oh well.

Ah yes, you are correct. I thought Edwards creation was kind of amusing to say the least. :) I hope no one is trying to create a man that has scissors for hands. ;)

Everytime I see the "goodbye" scene, I immediately start trying to hold back the tears.

How about the scene where Kim asks Edward to hold her? Yet, at first he doesn't want to, because he's afraid that he'll hurt her and she embraces him showing that she's not afraid.

The look on his face and the comfort he obviously felt made me well up too.

Such a fantastic movie.

But the Edward Scissorhands score is better.

Ehh, I like the Batman Returns score a bit more, although it does seem to be based on the ES score, along with the Nightmare Before Christmas score (notice the "Making Christmas" rifts in the BR score in some spots). Yeah, but Edward Scissorhands is my third favorite Elfman score.
1. Batman (1989)
2. Batman Returns
3. Edward Scissorhands

The '89 Batman theme is my favorite of his. But I still think the ES score is his best and most beautiful. Returns is up there, though.

This was like, the first movie where I fell in love with Johnny Depp. I LOVED it and still do. A Burton classic:up:

To bad there couldn't be a sequel done with Johnny Depp being as popular as he is now, it would probably be a big hit. I guess movies like this are a one time deal.

A sequel to this would've been a huge mistake, I think. This film is meant to stand on its own.

I love this movie ! (duh) :D

Definitely one of my all time favorites. I think it's one of those films you never get tired off. You can watch it as many times as you want, it never gets old.

The score is my favorite Elfman score, followed by Batman Returns and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Theatrical rerelease dammit !
