I want it sort of like Spider-man - suit for close-ups and monologue, cgi for flying and action. Suit should have subdued hues (not bright red and gold, more like brass over gold and almost-maroon color over red) with a slightly burnished look (it's supposed to be metal - it should look machined). It should look like heavy-duty metal, not like vacu-formed plastic!

I think Favreau's already said Iron Man will be CGI.

Yeah, he said a practical suit for close ups but he's going to be using a lot of cgi since metal is easier than skin. Something like that..

i'd like both really. Most of the complex stuff should be shot with CGI, but I do hope they have a suit for some scenes.

Well I would like to think that somewhere in the film there'll be a place for some practical stunts done with stunt guys in a suit, so I definitly would want an actual suit.

CGI for me, I think a body suit would be a little restricting if they wanted it to look good and work well at the same time.

Both for me, Suit for the upclose scenes and CGI for flying and the such.

Can't it be both?

^Agreed. A mixture of both is the best approach.

It is. Up close shots with a suit, flying and fighting with CGI.

Can't have one without the other. ;) A combination of both is required here, and luckily that's what Favreau seems to be going for.
I just hope that they make the CGI Iron Man seem heavy enough... but seeing as the problem with a lot of CGI is that it sometimes looks too "mechanical", I don't think we'll have a problem seeing as, well, yeah... ;)

The stormtroopers in the Star Wars prequels looked convincing.

Hume, you forgot to add the "Somewhere in between" option on your poll. But, that's my vote.

just as long as its not like Robocop. I read that was a really uncomfortable suit with AC units etc

Yeah, I agree. If they made him all CGI, I would be afraid it would turn out like Yoda's and Darth Sidious' lightsaber battle. :(

Iron Man is gonna need tons of close up shots while he's in armor, so they're gonna have to make a couple of body suits..

Do what Spider-man did...Not hard at all really. That's what most if not all comic book movies should be doing anyway. Hulk looks great while in motion but when he stops, the illusion loses it's impact a little.
I say go for a bit of both really. I just hope the suit doesn't go looking like the Green Goblin suit.

Both!

Both. Body suit for closeups and when Tony takes off the helmet and CGI for flying/action sequences.
If it's CGI all the way, it'll look as fake as the Star wars clone troops in Ep 2 & 3.
