Marble Blast Ultra is one, I'd have to say Big Mutha Truckers is another one... Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is probably in that vein, along with Killzone...
...can you think of any good examples?

Marble Blast Ultra is a great game, the genre of marble games has been around since the NES days, and has a strong following, so how is it a joke? Just cause you don't like something doesn't mean it's a joke. Although I agree with you about every other game in that list.

Definately not Killzone, though it had a lot of problems, it was overall a good game that has sold well.
Replace Killzone with Brute Force or Perfect Dark Zero for taking one of the best FPS universes in games and ruining it.

killzone was in no way better than perfect dark zero, but it's hardly the atrocity that some of you make it out to be. it's a solid enough game.

It's not that Killzone sucked, it's just that it was completely hyped up to be something that it completely wasn't.
The single player mode was mediocre, average, nothing special, been there done that, etc. But at least I had fun with multiplayer. Though nowhere near as much fun as I had with the multiplayer of Far Cry :D

anywho, BACK TO THE FUTURE.....I find even more annoying than ET...the damn music...I didn't much care for Super Mario 2 either, thank goodness they came to their senses and made SM3 a classic....oh and Bad Boys 2....that game was horrible...I've only seen the review on Xplay...but from that I can see it sucked...

Just as Killzone was billed as a "Halo-killer", and yet only served to remind us how bad console first person shooters could be and reminded us just how special Halo was, this is billed as a "Gears of War-killer", and will probably have the same effect. Just as Killzone ended up at the bottom of bargain bins...well, you get the picture.

Killzone has sold almost 3 million copies worldwide, it's better then Black. Though being better then Black is not saying much for sure. I have not heard any Halo/Gears killer mantra anywhere aside from a small small minority, it would be unfair to give those games such a label. The only thing that is in Halo's league is Half Life (for totally different reasons).
EDIT: I did not mean Killzone is better then PDZ, just that the dissapointment of PDZ is so much more because of how small it shines next to PD.

Resisitance is not being billed as the Gears of War killer. It's being billed as a FPS made by Insomniac, one of Sony's few good developers (along with Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, and Santa Monica, the rest suck ass). Resistance is getting some rather good previews so far. And it makes the Playstation 3's extremely mediocre launch line-up look a little less bad.

Again, Killzone suffered from overhype. Way too much overhype. It was branded to be a Halo killer but in the end it was just very, very generic. It's probally one of the most generic games I have ever played. It's not that it is bad, it's just that there are just so many other FPS games that are out there that are just so much better.

Killzone is much more disappointing than Perfect Dark Zero was. Killzone promised to be just as good if not better than Halo. The "Halo-Killer." That was clearly not the case. Killzone was extremely generic. Perfect Dark Zero was somewhat generic, but nowhere near the levels of genericness of Killzone.
Perfect Dark Zero, despite not being anywhere near as good as the original, lived up to it's promise at least. It brough a prequel to the original Perfect Dark and brought a Rare game to the Xbox that is not a remake (Conker: Live and Reloaded) and does not suck total ass (Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Kameo)

I didn't bring up review scores. I hated Kameo. I played the demo of Kameo and it was really bad. Not bad enough to be deserving of this thread, but still rather bad.

i'd like to know what artard called resistance a 'gears of war killer'... not only does gears of war look to rock in 18 differents ways, but the 2 games aren't even in the same genre.
as for a halo 3 killer? i think the resistance's 40 person multiplayer could out do halo's, the story is a matter of taste, really, and we'll see what happens with the controls/physics/everything else, but graphically? probably not. resistance doesn't look bad or anything, it's just really nothing special to look at.

Metal Gear Solid. The splinter cell series shows it up for the lame game it is, with failed director Kojima at the helm.
The biggest joke is that it actually has a following at all. I guess you can polish a turd to make it sweeter for some people to digest
