David Mazuchelli's (sp?) Year one costume, Alex Ross's version. Basically any grey-black costume with the big black bat, but those versions specifically.

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40458408/ Okay, I did this to see what my own image of Batman would be. I just took my favorite elements from other costumes, be it movie animated or comics, and this is my Batsuit. What do you think? . . . hmmm . . . image didn't load . . . go to http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40458408/

I like Matt Wagner's a lot. Basically any drawing of the suit without the bat in a yellow oval.

I chose this more for design than anything. It's the general Batman design I believe that I may like the most: Short ears, Black/Gray body suit, Solid Black Bat, Pouched Belt.

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/RPG_MB/lee_batman.jpg

I like this because I'm a fan of the classic Oval Bat-Insignia, but am not a fan of the capsule belt. This, along with adding blue which I think can work with Batman on occasion, is a great alternative to the Neal Adams look. (That said, I wish the ears on this pic were longer)

http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/bios/batman/m04.jpg

I always thought this was the best design in regards to cartoons. Black and grey with the emblem, and shades of blue aswell. It even makes me like the capsule belt.

http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/beyond/bios/brucewayne/07.jpg

I think, if Bruce Wayne really wanted to scare the bejebus out of criminals, He'd don something like this. It makes him look and seem as close to an actual Bat as possible, but at the same time the design isn't too drastic. It worked when worn by Terry, too... But I always liked the first few minutes of Batman Beyond because of the way it made Bruce look: Like a big, terrifying Bat.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/Master_Bruce/GothamCity/063_G.jpg

The absolute best live action Batsuit. Say what you want about it, I love it. It takes the best elements of previous Batsuits, while adding new things from the comics, and blending it all in a realistic fashion to suit a man bent on ridding a violent city of criminality. I hope it doesn't change too much for TDK.

http://photos.imageevent.com/batmanonfilm/bofimagesbofimages/bermejo_batmanpic1.jpg

And lastly, a costume I've always liked... The Lee Bermejo design. It, along with the Batsuit, brings credibility to an otherwise... well, silly concept of a man dressed up as a Bat. I could see this in the real world.

Batman 89 is still my favorite batsuit. Basically the Neal Adams suit, only black.

Otherwise I think Batman quite frequently looks his best in the JLA comics

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-2/1153205/batman-ray.jpg

Kinda hard to see in this pic, but it basically has everything I love. The all-black suit, the gold emblem, and I like the bat "thumbs" on the shoulders.

Here's another one:

I personally love this guy's take on the costume: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36677401/

It's the only one I've seen that looks both realistic and cool at the same time.

Yeah I totally agree with you here. That was the best that that particular suit has ever looked. Bruce made that suit intimidating.

Indeed! Bale made the suit work for it's initial purpose . . . to scare the s**t out of people.

God. I love the Begins suit so much. It's like the perfect "real world" look for the Dark Knight.

As for the Beyond suit. I never really understood why Batman would change his "attire" so drastically. Sure he needs the strenght addition from the suit but couldn't he just.....like make a version of the suit that looks like the original one...I mean...the cape was so good.

Well, maybe most garish or most "action-figurish". But I would think the worst would have to be the 40's serial movie costumes. They looked like cheap Halloween costumes.

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-2/1153205/batmanrobin.jpgI agree, the 89 suit rocks. The yellow oval logo is so much better.

It is more unique than that plain bat that just looks like a generic halloween decoration.

The yellow was more his own thing, you saw that and you knew it was Batman, just like how the movie poster was so unique, some people didn't know what it was at first, it's just cool, that style of bat and everything is just so great, just like how Superman has his shield, the yellow was just more all his own, that plain bat is okay but too dull, I don't mind seeing it on a flash back story or an old comic but he needs to get that yellow oval back, it does make a difference.

No offense against Adam West , I actually really like the 1966 Batman -
if you think of it as the parody it was meant to be. His suit worked really
well for that purpose , but as a Batman suit in general - it just falls flat.

My thoughts e-xac-tly.

I think the BTAS suit is perfect as well. Dark yet superheroic.

this is the best MOVIE costume by far. As for comics... have to go with Alex Ross. If it weren't for the rubber nipples and ( shudder) what came later . . . I would say Kilmer's suit was better than Keaton's.

About the 40's movie serial's costume's ( the first one from 1943, I think.) -- I remembered a scene where Batman and Robin were fighting some thugs, Batman took a swing at one guy, and his cape, apparently unattached to the rest of the costume anywhere, swiveled around so that it was almost backwards, hanging over his front, so that he had to quickly swing his arm around to move the cape back to it's proper position. Cracked me up.
I thought it was odd that this was left in the final cut, but I figured that just indicates how cheap a production it was, that they wouldn't even bother to do a re-take. It happened quickly enough I guess they just hoped no-one would notice.
I noticed.

Another funny with the early 1940's Batman serial, was how Batman survived the fall from the building at the end of Chapter One. I mean, he comes crashing down on two guys, with one of them appearing to be falling to his death. But Batman just pops right back up (one wonders how since it looked like he fell a good ways?), brushes off, and climbs right back up the building to help Robin obtain the Radium Gun from some Dr. Daka thug.

Bathead

Well, that's actually pretty typical of almost all of the old movie serials. To make it more exciting they always had a cliffhanger that was apparently utterly impossible for the hero to escape. Then, since the succeding chapter wouldn't be seen until a week later, the producers of these films believed most movie-goers would forget *exactly* what happened and they would add scenes that were basically cheats, like showing the hero jumping from the car just before it went over the cliff, when the preceding chapter's cliffhanger made it obvious that he couldn't have done such a thing. When you see the serials now, usually you see them in compilations, where you can see as many chapters in a row as you want, the inconsistencies are apparent, and it becomes obvious that they were cheating.

The Shredder
10-11-2006, 02:10 AM
Yeah, I've seen a few serials. And I'm aware of how inconsistant alot of them are ultimately played out with each and every chapter, but the one I was referring to just seems hilarious to me for some reason. Hell, I believe Batman in the 1940s serial is briefly suggested to be working for the U.S. Government rather than a out-and-out vigilante, but thats another aspect that was often common with superhero serials. Change from the source. Admittedly, I've probably seen the early 1940s Batman serial more than any other serial comic book related or not. Unfortunately I havent seen many of the Superman serials, but I hear they are being released shortly. So thats cool.

Fav Batman costume is the 1989 Keaton suit, btw.
