As fun as Marvel vs. Capcom it never really went anywhere, beyond the gameplay. The universes are so distant in theme and style, that the lack of reation, left the games to a story that is weaker than day old decaf coffee. We have all dreamd of the day in which Capcom would lead Marvel's heroes against the legendary icons of DC...but that day never came to fruition. Some years down the road however, a few dedicated PC/comic enthusiasts have given us the chance to realize that dream of the ultimate video game showdown.

Through the power of M.U.G.E.N., gamers everywhere can finally have the slugfest match ups that they have always clamored over. Still think Batman can beat anybody in the Marvel universe? Think Thor is stronger than Superman? This game affords all gamers and comic enthusiasts, the necessary battlegrounds with which to discover or craft a truth, about these dream fights. I am sad to say, that this game is still in the early beta stages. There are far more Marvel characters available for M.U.G.E.N. than there are DC ones, but the ability to compile a suitable roster, still exists. At the moment I have some 25 or so characters, of which on 6 of them are DC (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Plastic Man, Lobo and Ice), but even their availability has given me a few hours of fun, up against the likes of Spider-Man 2099, Nate Summers, Thor, Juggernaut etc etc. If you love the Marvel vs. Capcom games, or are just a comic book enthusiast, then you will want to check this out.

I myself have quite an extensive list of characters (believe me, it has been a pain in the butt to track them down). Anyways, the main project site is located here

Green Arrow isn't as nice as you'd think, but I keep him around for completion. His sprite is taken from the Sega Genesis game Justice League Task Force. However, the person who ripped the sprite for M.U.G.E.N. saw fit to increase his sprite size. This has caused him to look realy dated compared to most of the other characters for the game, because these characters are based on Capcom sprites from the various CPS2 arcade board Marvel games. But like I said, he is nice to have for completion. My roster now consists of 13 individual DC characters, and one pallette swap (Professor Zoom...though, he does have his own sound effects, colors, and a different helper attack).

Out of all the Marvel vs DC mugen characters out there. Thor, Ice, and Wolverine has the best AI it really isn't easy to face them especially with Thor's lv. 3 super.

I tried Mugen in the past, but put it down. Now this thread got me to want to try it again, now I understand it and it's easy. At first I was just going to get Marvel and DC chars, but I've added in plenty of other ones. I finally found an Ichigo which took some time. So far tho my favorite is evil Ken (who is the most powerful char I've dl'd so far, well he matches and sometimes loses on watch to omega from megaman).

Only problem I'm having now is finding a Batman as the guys in charge of Marvel vs. DC took him down. Their Wonderwoman link doesn't work either.

Also I found a Galactus who functions somewhat like Apoc, and found a working Doc Ock, but he doesn't quite look like a Marvel vs. Cap char.

Evil Ken is very tough and chains combo's, but Holy Ken seems to beat him almost everytime. Now what's really tough is going into the char doc's and upping Wolverine's speed a few notches. He just goes insane, sometimes you can't even get off the ground or block fast enough to get more than 1-2 hits if any in.

BTW just a warning, but one of the Mugen files I tried to dl had a virus on it so be careful, and it was off of one of the main sites. Luckily it was detected and deleted and is np to me, but it was a win32/parite which can cause instability and make most of your files slightly larger eating harddrive space and jumps to each .exe you open corrupting everything. Pretty much you'd have to reformat and reinstall windows deleting any .exe's on your harddrive (meaning most things couldn't be backed up). I believe it was MCM (mugen character maker) or possibly Fightermaker95 that had it. So be careful what you download and from where.

Is there anyway to adjust the AI? For example, my Superman's AI is retarded whereas Gouken's and Tyrant's AI is ridiculous.

No clue on AI, but go into a char folder, let's say for Abyss, then open the Abyss.cns file (or whatever the character's .cns file is named) and you can edit a lot of the char there. You can edit the x and y scale to increase his size, but do it slow. I took a transformers char, fortress maximus, and wanted to increase his size and put it from a 1 to a 2 and you could only see up to his hips on the game screen lol. You can also increase or decrease hp, walk speed, power behind each hit and so on.

Ok, I'm confused on something, and while messing with it I kinda figures out your problem. Open the .cmd file with notepad, there should be an AI set, or several that you can edit in there. How to edit to step the AI up or down I'm not sure.

Now my question is does anyone know how to go Bankai with Ichigo? I've tried editing the command, but I'm still not getting it. I tried setting the lesser than 500 hp to full hp so he can do it at anytime, the command says it's just down to forward and b, yet it still doesn't go off.

Edit - Nevermind, I figured it out. I found where someone said you have to lose the first round, and then have less than half hp to go bankai. So I deleted the <=500 line, and the var(35)=1 line taking out both triggers making both bankai, and hollow form accessible at anytime.

Trust me, you DON'T want Deadpool. He's a horribly made character. Beast is a copy of Blanka but with Zangief's grunts. He's not bad at all though. Jean Grey is excellent although incomplete, just like Flash and Batman.

Hey men, I have apocalypse 2001.04.14 that works on mugen 2002.04.14.

In your mugen 2002.04.14 directory you will see winmugen.exe but i'm not sure if this is winmugen or the hacked version. It runs under windows on a small window unlike mugen 2001.04.14 that runs in fullscreen using DOS and has black background. Well that's all I can say.

I just found out about Mugen a couple of days ago. It's been fun, but I'm having a helluvatime finding DC chracters. Aside from my Marvel to DC ratio, it's been pretty fun...but if anyone's got a suggestion or two for some DC folks, it'd be appreciated. Thanks heaps for wolverine , he's really cool , but i have a bit of a problem. I downloaded spawn , batman and Dan to my desktop as you do. I unzipped them with winrar , and i put them in my eve battle mugen and they didnt work! I mean I put their DEF file name on their folders , put the into my chars folder and put them in my select list. Then I went to play mugen arcade and they were not there. Only a blue shimmering square were they were suppoded to be. But wolverine worked for some reason. If you know what to do could you please tell me , i really want these characters.

You gotta make sure the folder name of the character is exactly the same as the def file name, that is a common problem that pops up. Otherwise it seems you got everything else right.

Ok once you've downloaded the Spawn_(MVC).zip file it will come up as er_spawn, after you've extracted (unzipped) the files you will have a folder that is called er_spawn. Click on the folder and there will be a sub folder called spawn. Click on the folder called spawn and there will be another folder called spawn. Take that folder, drag and drop it in your chars folder. When you put spawn in your select def file do it like this. spawn, stages/kfm.def, if you still have trouble let me know and i will upload it for you so you can just add him the easy way. Yes, this is an excellent way to change sizes. For instance, my Hulk actually looks like he's 9 feet tall now. You don't have to use only 1, 2, 3 etc. because changing it to 2 makes them humongous. You can use decimals too. Like 1.1, 1.06 or even 0.95 to shrink them. Decimals are your best friend in resizing'em :D

This game is very much a real work in progress. Although it is in the beta stages for many of the more unique characters, you can enjoy the game at a fully functional level. I myself have quite an extensive list of characters (believe me, it has been a pain in the butt to track them down). Anyways, the main project site is located here

Heaven or Hell Chars1-5.zip (you'll first need to create a folder called "chars" and extract them into there)

This game is very much a real work in progress. Although it is in the beta stages for many of the more unique characters, you can enjoy the game at a fully functional level. I myself have quite an extensive list of characters (believe me, it has been a pain in the butt to track them down). Anyways, the main project site is located here

I was just reading where someone stole and leaked some of the characters the ppl developing the Marvel vs. DC at Scruffydragon were making. That sucks that now they have to hold back on releasing because of one jerk. I don't blame them, and the dude is a thief, just sucks that everyone has to pay because of him. The mugen scene tho is pretty infamous for ppl stealing others work and adding it to their own, and then releasing the char like they made it.

1)I no longer have the Screen Name Arach Knight. I had it banned (by choice) almost a year ago.

2)I don't even have most of those characters that I used to have. I got tired of having broken or poorly edited characters.

3) The screen pack has been leaked, but unless you are Mugen savy, it will amost be worthless to you. You can attempt to insert characters into the pack, but you have to change the selction box arrangement and pixel size. Most characters don't have accurately sized selection portraits anyways. That "leaked game" is utter garbage by the way. Most of those characters are missing moves or have no frames of animation at all.

Lex Luthor has only one frame of animation (a standing punch). Parasite has no moves. Catwoman has only a few kicks and no moves. Hal Jordan has one punch animation while standing and another when crouching. The same goes for Black Cat. If you truly want to have an enjoyable experince, I highly suggest that you just wait for the game to be finished, when it is finished. And no, it won't be out some time this year. Mugen creation is a slow process. The guys who have come together to bring us this project, are not paid professionals. A lot of them are 9-5 job workers. A lot of them are University students. They do this out of passion. But because that is their motive, they also must do it when they have time, and not when they want to. The only fully released characters from phase 1 (the complete roster will be larger than what is seen in that crappy leak) are Superman, Wonder Woman, Ice, Plastic Man, Lobo and Marrow. There are other very well done betas at the moment (Superboy, Thor, Spider-Man etc), they are still not the final version of the project characters.

I never understood why people would download unfinished characters. Especially since they have no moves or specials what so ever. Just a kick and punch, nad of course a cool design. When Ghostrider got leaked, he had a bunch of nice moves and what not, but the animation still needed to be finished. Hopefully some'll learn. I have the DC vs Marvel version and I'm trying to load new characters. I added the character files to the char folder and updated the select.def file where they should appear. A few worked like Cyborg, Aquaman, and Deadpool (only their pictures don't show up in the selection screen... just an empty space.) Others don't work at all (empty space that you cannot select).
Will these characters work or not? If so... what do I need to do to get them to work in this version of Mugen?

for the DC vs Marvel screenpack you need special portraits to make them work, you should probably change your screenpack!!

Im new to the whole MUGEN thing. I would like to be able to get some characters as i have no idea how to do programming. First of all how do you get rid of the kung fu fighter guys you start off with? And while im asking that, ill write a list of characters i would like to have if anyone can get them for me (that is if its not a problem).

Hmm, I'm not sure whats going on with the DCvM mugen. I havent looked at mugen in the past few weeks, but if we can get enough people in here to look around, we could build a new community around here. Trade off characters and what not, as long as it doesnt become a wharehouse but we'll see whats really good. I'm going to look around later today after I get out of class (for some characters, and some Marvel/DC news)

Ok so I downloaded it.
How do I get characters on to it?!?!

Mugen Characters like the Flash and Superman have multiple looks.
Sometimes the Flash is Yellow & sometimes Red.
Superman sometimes has an old look with white hair, a young look in a bright colored
suit and a faded or ghosted suit.
How can I force a characters to look the way I want or change his look. I want to play with a Red FLASH not a yellow and I hate the old looking Superman from Kingdom Come.
I noticed this when I have a character like Superman vs another Superman. They both are different. Any Key Combo's or a file to edit to force or change?
