Sorry if theres already a thread about this. But I think it would be a cool little tidbit for you guys to know that Jay named his new album after Kingdom Come. I just thought that was cool. Cheerio.:word:

Somehow I doubt he's calling it Kingdom Come because of the comic book.

Somehow I doubt he's calling it Kingdom Come because of the comic book.

Jay and Beyonce appear on a double cover for Rolling Stone magazine, while the full Entertainment Weekly article about Jay-Z's new Album, "Kingdom Come," is online.

Yes, Jay-Z is a man of his word. Except, it seems, when he isn't. In 2002, the rapper declared that his next CD, The Black Album, would also be his last. His future lay not in the beats but in the boardroom. And that ambition became a reality when, in December 2004, he was announced as the new president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. How to explain, then, the news that this fall Jay-Z will release a new CD, Kingdom Come? ''It was the worst retirement, maybe, in history,'' he admits. And then he launches into an impromptu a cappella preview of the title track, which was inspired by a 1996 comic in which Superman comes out of retirement to save the world. The lyrics that effortlessly roll off his tongue may help explain his return: ''Take off the blazer/Loosen up the tie/Step inside the booth/Superman is alive!''

I fail to see why this is in the Batman forum

Jay-Z is not, to my knowledge, a comic book fan, and even if he was, we know "kingdom come" did not come from the comic.

And Jay-Z does not suck, let's be real.

Well spoken. However, current generation rappers are garbage and damn disgraces to the artform. I'm about to make a song called Bruce Wayne though. I don't know what the hell it's going to be about, but it'll probably be a story dealing w/ an orphan. But yeah, Jay-Z, Nas, OkayPlayer, Common, + Underground = that's it. Anybody know of any famous musicians doing anything comicbook related? Some creative cats out there.

it would still fit in more at the Superman forums, seeing as he said it was more about Superman and all...although none of this changes the fact that Jay Z sucks...oh wait, I forgot, he sampled "hard knock life" from little orphan annie in one of his songs, he must be a f**king genius

"hard knock life" was awesome. jay-z is one of the most creative minds in all of music, not just rap. for 8 straight years, he put out dope album after dope album, with at least 4 classics. and to top it off, he doesn't even write his stuff down; he thinks about it and then spits off the top of his head. so, yes, he is a genius.

how mature. i could say, "you can't spell crock without rock", but i don't. cause i like rock, and even if i didn't, i would still respect the genre. i don't like country, reggae, or go-go, but i let them be.

to The Joker, just cuz you don't like Jay-Z doesn't mean he sucks. When someone says sucks, that is a measure of talent, not how much one likes him. if you don't like him, that's fine, nobody can make you like or listen to anyone. but to say he has no talent--especially jay-z--is ludicris (sp?). a lot of people don't like eminem, but to say he has no talent has no merit. i don't really like krs-one, but i acknowledge his skills. i just can't get into his stuff.

you probably have legit reasons for disliking jay-z and his music, but one of them shouldn't be that "he sucks".

For example, in The Joker's opinion, Jay-Z sucks. The man is free to think what he wants and criticize the rapper's music as he sees fit.

frodawgg

^^^i am no way disputing his opinion. i am saying that the term "sucks" relates to quality of talent rather than if he likes him or not. i totally dislike michael jordan, but i am not blind to see that he's a great basketball player. i don't disregard talent due to bias.

So let me get this straight... people aren't allowed to have their own opinions anymore? I did not insult you or anyone else. I merely stated my opinion about this person's music. If you're going to cry about one man's mere opinion (which is everyone's God-given right to say, as long as it does not hurt anyone), especially on something as trivial as music, then you should probably just lock yourself in a room somewhere and ignore the world for the rest of your life, because whether you like it or not, no one will ever share your point of view on everything.

I'll state it a final time: In my opinion, Jay-Z sucks. If you cannot accept the fact that myself and others are capable of judging and forming a criticism of his music for ourselves, then I actually do pity you.

Grow up manOh yes, because I honestly care about what people think when I say some rapper's music sucks . It's my opinion and I'll express it how I see fit. Accept my methods of expression and then take a walk out in the real world where people are allowed to speak freely. Crazy idea, I know, but give it a shot.

Nobody said that you cannot have your own opinion. I don't--and I don't think anyone else--have beef with you not liking Jay-Z; that's cool. I'm just saying that you should use proper terminology and ways of saying it. Like someone else said, just say something like, "i don't like Jay-Z" or "I don't like his (style of) music". That's all. Oh, nevermind.

I do listen to rap/hip-hop. I've been a fan of Dre and Snoop for a long time, and I enjoy Eminems first 2 albums. I also listen to some local hip-hop, such as Nuisance Crew and Soulcrate Music. Even if I didn't though, I still have every right to say Jay Z sucks, in my opinion. I don't listen to opera, cause I think it sucks. So I can therefore say "the three tenors suck" because I feel all opera sucks. Same goes for rap if I indeed didn't listen to it. You don't have to be an expert on something to dislike it.

Everybody check out the first track on Lupe Fiasco's album. The majority of the first verse is Batman related (bastard stole my idea though).
